Cute game!

It's a decent platformer, and the dash ability plays well.

I think the single thing that would make this game better is collisions. In unity, you can stop that sticking to the wall thing by applying a physics material with friction set to 0. It's super easy and not a lot of beginner devs know about it. Nice take on the theme, and I hope you continue to polish after the jam, even if just a bit!

Developer

Yep, I just did that and I'm going to update the game later. Thanks!

Nice silly little platformer game, that chef with the gun is hilarious!

Submitted(+1)

Oh my gosh that chef is terrifying XD Loved the theme interpretation it was certainly unique c: The soundtrack was nostalgic and worked well :) Congrats on your second ever game jam you did a great job!

Thank you so much!

Movement felt realy nice and responsive!
I see that you went with 'sticky wall' and used it as a mechanic :P
Scaling felt good but I did not see a purpouse of the middle size.
I either went super big for high jumps and faster movement or super small for squeezing in tight spaces.
Maybe adding different mechanic for each size would solve this issue and make the game a little more interesting ;)

Overall cool short game with clear goal and well executed theme mechanic.

Developer

Thank you! That is good advice. I will make the middle size more useful. The sticky wall is a bug :P

Loved this, I really felt like I was ratatouille but with a survival horror twist. I liked the platforming controls, they didn't feel floaty and felt just right. The scaling mechanic was also very intuitive and really well implemented. The chef enemy was also cool even if it was very clear that he wasn't cheesed to meet me. But for real great stuff!

Thank you!

Ratatouille with guns: The video game. Simply phenomenal. The physics and controls are good, the rat scaling seems to be pretty smooth and well implemented into the level design, the chef hunting you down is wacky (in a good way) and provides challenge. The only issue is that clicking 'Hard Mode' on the menu screen crashes the game lol

Developer

Yep, I'm fixing that now! :)

As a fellow rat enjoyer, I like this game. I think the art for the rat is really nice and the dash looks nice too, shrinking and growing was fun I think bound to the mouse wheel (haha get it) could be slightly more intuitive, the chef with the gun was funny and I like the cheese at the end, I like rat I like cheese I like this game.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! That is good feedback.

yeah I've since realised I'm dumb and scroll wheel is probably not a good idea since people might not have a mouse but yeah it felt slightly odd buttons maybe have different keybinds u can do or something idk anyway cool game!

WHY DOES THE CHEF HAVE A GUN HELP

As someone also new to game jams in general (this one's my third ever and I don't do game dev much outside of it) I'm super impressed! The mechanics were easy to understand and I go the cheese :33

Developer

Thank you!

I got the cheese! That is one committed chef.

Laughed until I cried, cried until I beat the game on my 10th try. Was excellent

Developer

Hooray!

Submitted(+1)

im a rat <3 nice game, I couldn't figure out whether I was suppose to be able to climb the walls or not though

Developer

Yeah I should probably change that. Did you beat the game?

Submitted

Not yet but only because im bad at games lol. Ive been playing to see how far I can get :)

Submitted(+1)

One of the best platformers for this theme I've played yet! I was super stressed after the chef started shooting at me 😭😭😭 I couldn't climb and platform fast enough

Developer

Thank you! Was it too hard?

Submitted(+1)

For me, it was, but I see for others it could be reasonable. Maybe if I got more used to the jumping controls first I could achieve true ratforming success

I felt that way too, the panic really gets me especially when I wasn't familiar with the controls, but after familiarizing myself in the beginning without the looming threat of death, I got the hang of it!
