Pretty cool game & graphics! But the gameplay can be a bit of a hassle. It's kinda hard to play when the keys doesn't go continuous at all (there's an unused S key in between). To me it'd be more fun (easy mode) if it's lower to just 2 or 3 combos per hit, because every time I want to look for a combo I have to look at the keyboard to line up the combo, and I'd get drained in HP pretty quick. This also allows for more variety of combo without the difficuly scaling up. Nevertheless, this got to have some potential if you like to expand upon and polish the game mechanics.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, we didn't have as much time for playtesting and difficulty balancing as we would have liked. We will definitely look into polishing the gameplay!

Great job! Was surprisingly tricky to get through even on easy mode lol! I would have liked to see some variety in defeating the regular creatures rather than the same notes as it became difficult to type the same 4 keys over and over. Overall very impressive and great music and art!

very nice game! the audio is a definite standout and the art is also great, unfortunately its a bit too difficult for me even on the easy mode but i wont let that affect my rating of the game , genuinely very well made, amazing job!! :D

Cool game that makes use of quick reflexes clicking on specific keys.

Ah music, my one true nemesis.

Joking aside, that was actually pretty fun and I'm glad that I can still decently play this despite being tone deaf lol. One suggestion would be to let the player know about the existence of the shield, which is quite vital. I'm sure lots of people will tunnel vision on the enemy as they try to type out the combo on the enemy's head.

Also, great art!

Developer

Thank you so much! Yeah, we lack a proper tutorial to introduce concepts like the shield, which some people have pointed out to us, there is definitely room for improvement and we will keep those suggestions in mind if there is some interest in the game and we decide to release an update. Thanks for the feedback! Glad you could enjoy it.

Was tough to play, but I loved the art and general concept of it. Very creative idea, unique twist on the jam theme!

Hard to get the hang of at first if you're not very skilled with your fingers, but once you manage it and the music drops, it's a banger!

I’m terrible at this game :( TERRIBLE! and I just tried the easy mode haha I like the style and the idea! good job :)

Very good idea, there is not a lot of game about music scales ! This is really hard however, because the key placement is kinda awkward lol

But great job to every one :)

Cool mechanic! I love the theme here. The gameplay is bit hard to me even in easy mode haha

The music and art is really cool but I dont have a qwerty keyboard so it was a bit hard to do the right keys 😭

On the first level you can shoot the boss even when he isn't on the screen yet. But great game overall good job!

Developer

Thanks! Yeah, the boss thing is one known bug  that I hadn't time to fix for the deadline. Thanks for the feedback!

I played your game and........ It was...

So the idea is fantastic but the execution is not good. Sorry I can't find the right word. I will start with the good points I found.

  • The animation is fantastic. The art style was good. Big thumbs up to the artists.
  • About the music.. I wish to be a team with you in a future who ever made the music. Its great!
  • The story is interesting and the idea is fantastic.

The reason why I said the execution is not good is because its lacking of game feel. I know that we have a limited amount of time in this game jam but being too ambitious is detrimental. I'm guessing that someone in your team come up with too many things and forgot to focus on important things. For example do you really need to shot the bat? Can't you just simplify it by just hitting the right notes and it will shoot automatically? It will save you're programmer time to implement with the aiming stuff. As a team lead, If I were to lead this team, I would cut the scope in half, and cut and in half. I will focus on important thing. We should finish all gameplay within one day, and the rest is focus on polishing the game feel and balancing. I'm talking about game feel like (vfx, animation, sfx, and shaders). Overall, good job making a game. Nice work!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I'm the programmer for this game, and I totally agree, gameplay could be more polished, but I underestimated how long each feature was going to take, so we had a lot of features that I couldn't fit in the game, and the ones I managed to fit bug-free, didn't have enough time for playtesting and balancing and quality of life improvements. Definitely a lot of room for improvement gameplay-wise!
