Pretty fun! It's hard to strike the balance and survive as, obviously, there's some luck involved here, but it was fun to try and strategize! Great little game <3

I enjoyed the idea and strategy of the game! The balance between "good" and "evil" decisions gives it another level of complexity that doesn't let the player just hoard a bunch of resources without worry.

Balancing food/people was tricky, but I enjoyed it. Would love to see this expanded on.

Thanks for playing ^^

I struggled knowing exactly how the game mechanics worked, and the cards would often not go back down. I also sometimes could not place a card even though I met all criteria, so idk what happened there.

The game design itself coudl be improved, there's a lack of feedback from doing actions. The objective could be clearer (I did find the small button on the right corner a bit vague) -I'm sure there's a way to implement the objective in a more fun way :) -> (goal is to build [school]) -> and so on.

Also the "evil" cards, in my opinion, should not give anything. Giving me 30 coins for skipping school did not feel evil, I felt more rewarded. So the cards needs more balancing in my opinion :)

Except for that the style is great, and a fun and creative take on the theme!

Developer

If you press the “!” it explains the objective, maybe should have made it easier to see. Thats weird, on all my plays i never had a problem that i cant place it, maybe it was a building that you cant place twice.

Why would you play the bad cards if they dont give anything tho, bad cards give a big reward at cost of giving you evil points, balancing the scale to the bad side.

Maybe not give players the option to get a building you've already placed? I found that annoying as well now as you mentioned it.. Why would fountain come up twice if  I can't do anything about it :P

Haven't you designed the game so you have to play the bad cards? I thought the point of the game was to keep a balance between good and evil, (aka too much point on either side will result in a loss) - Sounds like I misunderstood

Edit: In your description it says "...maintain a balance between good and evil.." The way  I depict that is, if you have too many points on either side, you will lose.

Developer

Yeah, too many points in either side you lose, so you have to play the bad cards at some point and if you play too many bad cards you have to play the good ones or the scale will break.

I love keeping the balance in strategy games so this was designed to appeal to me. Seems pretty tough to win, if there is a winstate, but maybe I'll give it a shot! Could use some more clear direction and visual polish.

Developer

I Normally make hard games, sometimes too hard, if i could i would make this one lil easier, i overdid it a little bit hahahaha

Submitted(+1)

Interesting use of the theme, wanted to avoid choosing the bad events but seems like it's required to maintain the scale.

Developer

Yup, good and evil are necesary for a good balance :3

Quite a unique concept! Selecting and playing the cards is a bit janky. Really liked the scale and how it reacted to the cards I played. Overall a pretty good game!

Really creative! Some minor gripes with how the cards move - they obstructed each other and the map a lot - but it was fun to try and balance everything. Great job!

Congrats on submitting. An indicator that you can't play a card would be nice when you try to play it/keep the cards from covering the UI. The art was nice and the music went well with it. It was a bit of a challenge. Good Job!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, you are right, an indicator of which carts you cant play would help the player to pick cards faster and make the game smoother. I normally don’t make easy games, but this one may be too hard if you dont follow the right strategy >.<. Thanks for playing ^^

Be sure to check mine:)

One of the games that can be inside top 100, making a game with such a great idea and mind-blowing creativity is cool

Keep it up:]

I really apreciate your kind words, but i really doubt it hahah, thanks alot <3

Completely fine.

The concept is very creative! The resource management with random cards is really fun! I had a great time playing the game. Very well done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! ^^

This really fits the theme nicely and I really like the concept as a whole. The user experience needs further work, especially getting a better overview of the cards. But with further development I could see this becoming a very good game, good job!

Developer

Thanks for playing and the feedback <3

It's a good take on the theme of scales and decently challenging to balance the different resources. The effect where cards are highlighted is a bit slow and cumbersome though, it'd be nice if they rose up faster and went back down faster once you move your mouse off of them.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Cards movement and detection needs an overdone for sure, sorry about that^^’

Nice take on the theme, good job!

Thanks :3

Wow! really cool concept I love how it used the theme, the gameplay was so engaging and it looks really cool too! I  played this a lot! I love it!

My biggest wish is that the cards don't toggle between up and down on mouse hover and instead only are raised when they're currently being moused over, and don't raise up that high, like in Slay The Spire or Balatro. It made it unwieldy and difficult to control and when multiple were raised they overlapped each other and became unreadable. Also, it would be good if you saw the text while it wasn't raised even if it was smaller. If the card UI was easier to use and some balance tweaked this would probably be my favourite game of the jam, really well done!

I got very close but couldn't beat it, As people eat food every day, having buildings create people makes it very difficult to sustain as food requirement scales exponentially. The best strategy felt like keeping population as low as possible while stocking up on food and money, not buying any buildings that create people until right at the end all at once. Lastly, it would be good if you didn't get cards for buildings you already made as it got frustrating having almost all the buildings except 1 or 2 while the population number is massively increasing but drawing only buildings I've already placed.

I'd love to play some more though, really impressive for such a short period of time!

Developer

I had some problems with the hover system since were all UI and for some reason it would detect the mouse was moving out even if the mouse was still on top of the card, this is the best I could do without using too much time in it >.<

You really got the strategy of the game pretty quick O.o. You were using the strategy I been using to win the game, and tbh, probably the only way to win the game.

I thought about the not getting the buildings you have already done, but since I wanted to make more cards I thought it would be fine…

Thanks a lot for your feedback, and im really happy you liked my game so much!!!

Ah, that's ok, these things happen in jams but you made a full game that's really fun to play so that's the most important thing!
Yeah I did win in the end but lost a lot of times because I kept having to search for the last building as the population was rising so high and I kept getting duplicates

I really liked the sound effects (the card sounds are so satisfying!). I feel like clicking a card and dealing could be a bit faster to keep the game's pace up, and sometimes I would die out of nowhere so maybe some visual indicators of certain stats being low. I also thought the art was nice! Great work!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! All the values are in the HUD but the balance, which you can see how tilted is it, you can also die because you cannot play any card. However I was playing earlier and I died for no reason when i could play a card, so I suspect there may be a bug that I can’t quite catch yet that makes you lose for no reason. If I find it and fix it will upload a new build after the jam! Thanks for playing ♥

Very creative take on the theme!

Developer

Thanks, and thanks for playing ^^
