Very satisfying hit responses, I liked seeing my sword get so big it broke the map, would like to see a health bar, some more enemy types, maybe some more weapons, but this is a great start to a small active survivorlike project! Well done for the time frame and your for your first jam this is a great delivery!

Very satisfying game, felt extremely cathartic to play. I would like to see my health I think/get more feedback when I get hit. Would be awesome to see this game develop, and include more enemies and things in the future. The movement is very satisfying, good work!!!!!

The sword effect is wonderful and gives an iconic look to the game, especially when you get farther. Also like the intro. Great work!

I'm sorry, but to be honest I can't say I had fun with this one. It was incredibly laggy, and it got even worse the more you played as more and more enemies spawned. There are better ways to instance loads and loads of enemies that look identical. To give some other constructive criticism the pacing was slightly off too, you kill one red dude and then basically get jumped every single one of the red guys in the neighbourhood. Usually it starts of small and gets more and more intense. Finally the hit registration was really janky as the enemies could always hit you from a mile away whilst your sword never registered its attacks much at all, especially when it got bigger. There was probably something to do with the low framerate which had to do with this. I really do like the artstyle though! Again i hate to be that guy that leaves a negative review and to be honest its probably due to my low framerate.  But please dont be discouraged as it really is a good game for a game jam release!

Totally valid points, they are noted. I do believe the hit registration issue you have is because of your low framerate yes, since the collision check is activated when attacking and is checking each frame/tick. So it might've been skipping some areas for you.

And as you say, the first thing we'd fix is the progression of enemies spawned. It ended up being a last minute addition and we didn't have time to add extra logic to that. Instead crossing fingers that it wouldn't get TOO overwhelming in the early game ^^

I see, that makes sense. The FPS probably changed the hit registration a bit. Thanks for the response!

One of the few times where BIGGER is always BETTER. Haha. Nice SPIN (see what I did there)  on the theme. I see the potential in this concept especially with more polishing and gameplay variety.

Developer

Many thanks! We definitely want to polish it up for portfolio piece. With some extra content and spice it up with more VFX and art.

Awesome game! This concept is very unique and i havent seen other games use this theme before, so it was interesting to try it out : D

Developer

Happy to hear that you got an unique experience for this jam ^^

The swinging and hit effects are super satisfying!

Developer

Chonky feeling! Glad you liked that.

Very fun when the sword gets huge! I don't think I've seen this take on theme yet. Would love if there was a floor texture, kinda get lost in the darkness lol. Even just a really simple texture.

Developer

Happy to hear you got some uniqueness from this jam ^^ We'll fill up the floor in a future iteration.

A nice crowded game concept right here.

You should have more ratings by now.

Good game.

Cool concept and I liked the effect for the sword. Would be nice to also have some upgrades, like in a vampire survivors

Developer

Looking to add in some fun content for a future iteration along with some extra art and VFX!

cool idea, great art and good execution on the animations. The early game is too hard, and the enemies' hp/spread/movement is super punishing. With a little tuning, this would be a very fun little game.

Glad you liked it! Yaa enemy spawning was a rushed version. We'll tweak it in a future iteration.
