That was good fun -

I liked how you used the ‘space to re-roll’ and picking from a set to give the player enough control to make the random element of dice still feel like something you could strategize about.

If I have a complaint, it’s that I’d love a bit more variety to increase longevity; but then 48 hours isn’t a long time!

Nice concept! The overlay hints did a good job explaining everything so I had no trouble rolling into the actions. The healthy amount of different type of dice kept me interested for quite long. Arts are simple and look good. Overall I love it!

The dice variation is rather nice. I love that different theme dice have different ability allowing you to select the dice that fit the style. The art styles is simple and cute. I love the explosion dice the most for obvious reason. It was quite fun, great job!

The interface is intuitive and even if you don't quite understand what is happening there's a question mark that explains everything you need to know, good job.

Most games fall into the pit fall of making dices completely random, so they don't matter, even worse, if dices don't have anything special to them and all do the same thing.

Your game, however, doesn't fall into said pitfalls. You can choose different dices that you want to roll and each dice has special sides that are unique to each die. One of the best uses of the theme I've seen so far.

However, all that being said there's no reason to change dices from battle to battle. When you get the optimal dice combination (i use 3 stone rollers/2 boom boxes/1 ice dice) there's no reason to change it. Adding different enemies that have resistance to different elements and show the composition of enemies in the next battle so you could decide which dices to show might make the game more enjoyable. You might not had time to implement it, so that's more of suggestion if you want to continue developing the game.

Game has no ending, which is a shame, but not a big deal.

I would recommend using Godot 3.5 instead of 4.0 so that you could export to web (if you had to use 4.0 for some reason ignore this) Oh, i think you're using Godot 3.3, then you definitely should export it to web next time.

Also, please, export it to Linux/Mac. Godot has a good Linux support, so there's no reason not to provide it (I'm saying this as a Godot Linux user). As for Mac i don't know, but it won't hurt to at least provide it.

Overall i think your game is polished, intuitive and fun to play, you did a stellar job.

More enemy and die types were definitely in the initial design, although the point about showing the upcoming waves is a fantastic idea that we hadn't thought of. Did you adjust the order of your dice at any point or did that feel inconsequential? 

Also, I'm confused about what you mean by exporting to web - could you not play it in browser?
Not exporting it to Linux/Mac was definitely just laziness/sleepiness on my part, especially with how easy it is to do in godot so no excuses there! Even uploading a windows build was a last second afterthought since I figured the browser version would be sufficient for the jam but then suddenly remembered that certain builds were having WebGL errors.

I didn't adjust the order of my dice because it wouldn't matter.

Oh... I'm so dumb, yea, i could play it in browser, my bad. Exporting to Linux/Mac isn't 100% necessary when you have a web version, but you could.

This is a great game! I like the art style and the mechanics feel really polished and fun to play with, it gives off an angry birds style. Awesome Work!

I got to level 14 and I enjoyed it a lot.

That said, I kinda wish the big rock would fly through the enemies a bit more.
Doesn't feel to satisfying when you lob it into a group and it just takes out the first tiny guy and disappears.

Very fun! Bugger to play with a trackpad though. Felt like wood blocks were a bit hard to use at best and useless at worst.

I love the strategy of sort of trying to predict your first 6 shots and what would be useful, combined with the adaptiveness of the dice themselves rolling.

Yeah, I realise now that adding an option for click-toggle rather than click and drag would've helped with trackpads and accessibilty in general but it slipped my mind in the heat of the jam! I'm actually glad you didn't like the wood blocks - it's surprising to hear how many different loadouts people prefer with only 3 dice to pick from!

got to level 8, and the first levels were quite fun, but after that the best strategy felt like it was to have one ice cloud, and the rest rock damage.

a well put together game imo :)

Yeah, we didn't end up with enough content to really keep it engaging past the 4th or 5th wave so thank you for even making it that far haha! Interesting that you went with the ice-rock combo, my playtester swears by the explosive crates!

I really had fun playing this game! The design is super cute (especially the Yokoton enemies) and it feels really seamless to play (I also appreciated the clear help menu overlay). I like that the dice types are a mix of strategy and chance and have such fun effects. Creative take on the dice theme and feels crazy polished for such a short jam!

Great design. All die effects felt meaningful and had their place in the game - I used big stones as anti-air, ice clouds as crowd control, and explosions to weed out big enemy clusters. I also like the early internet vibe of this, though I'm not sure it's intentional - If I were a kid and I found this on Neopets, I'd have probably fallen in love with this game. Overall, great job!

By the way, for all GAMERS out there, I got to wave 11! Unfortunately had to blip out after that because of work.

This is such a nice comment, thank you so much. To be honest there wasn't really a set art vibe we were going for, I pretty much just drew what felt right and we got things rolling that way. I didn't even register the similarities with early internet worlds like Neopets but I'm so happy it you mentioned it and that the art reminded you of it.
Also, EPIC gamer move. I haven't even gotten that far hahah.

Hey, this was a really awesome game! We did a similar slingshot mechanic and I really like your implementation of it as a sort of tower defence. I think having different projectiles determined by a dice roll is really clever and the mechanic is really well implemented with a nice range of abilities that were well thought out! Great Job!
