Really nice game. The tutorial is detailed and well made. My favourite mechanics were spikes, water/ice. When I figured out some puzzles I felt really smart. After finishing the whole game I must say, taht this is definitely my favourite game of this game jam, I've played.
That was a great concept!
i loved the puzzle ideas. Great job! =)
great concept and fun levels, i enjoyed figuring out how and where to use the different dice!
Great job!
Really fun and creative puzzle game! Was really interesting and fun to play, good job!
nice work, I like the level designs, makes good use of the mechanics made and creates some solid puzzles. And of course the linux+godot workflow is truly blessed. Good stuff!
This is really well made. It's weird that you introduced a limited number of moves at the start and then get rid of it later. I guess there wasn't enough time to fix one way after switching to the other.
For bigger levels it makes more sense to have infinite moves and for smaller once it makes more sense to have limited amount of moves.
I don't want to remove limited moves because it removes the possible level complexity.
Right now I'm working on post-jam release, so i will make sure to add more limited moves levels.
Feels very complete and polished. Puzzles were complex but not mean.
Art was nice too and made this a treat!
Enjoyed this quite a lot!
This is a winner. 👏
It's very close to a full game and a great one. Using dice for multiple uses was a genius design. I tip my fedora to you!
some minor feedback:
- since it's a puzzle, why not roll all the dice at the same time? it gets a bit tedious and I did not realize you can throw them all beforehand
- make the frozen and melted easier to distinguish, I got confused a couple of times hehe
Thank you!
I 100% agree with your feedback.
Rolling all the dice at the same time will make more sense than what i have right now, yes.
And for water/ice there suppose to be a separate texture for each, but my artist didn't feel like making textures and i was a bit tired working on a game about 13-14 hours a day 😅
I got stuck real quick, on the first level with the fire dice, but the concept is great. Quite simple idea, but with a really interesting twist.
Cool game with a slick presentation. Puzzles had me stumped in a good way and I felt like a genius solving them. The last puzzle (i think?) made me quit though because I couldn't do the diagonal moves let along twice in a row so I kinda rage quitted. Great entry though! :)
Nice game. It was hard for me though. Made my mind think. :)
Nice puzzle game, I really loved it!
The only problem that I noticed is that I couldn't consistently perform the diagonal input. This made it too hard for me to reach past the second one of the level where it's needed, but as I haven't read anyone saying that it may also be a problem on my end
Apart from that I think it's one of the best game I've played in this jam!
Not your problem, you have to press them at the same time for it to work, which isn't great. I didn't design the game with diagonal input in mind, i just remembered that i made a game with the same mechanic before and thought i will test if it works here, and it did, so i made two final levels with this mechanic. (It also break early levels, so that's why i didn't make it obvious that you could do that and didn't make it easier to do it)
very nice puzzler with some good level design. I really enjoyed playing it and discovering new mechanics.
I wanted to finish it but I got stuck in this level. (now I write that and I guess I have to burn the first spikes, is that right?)
I also got stuck in that level, I think you need to go diagonal to avoid the first spike then go to the second spike and then you can go for the clear path, but I'm not 100% sure
You have to go diagonal on the spikes near the hole and at the end you have to burn ice to get the key.
It's a bit of at troll level tbh.
Oh, and there's a youtube video on my itch.io page which showcases each level and what is the intended solution.
Aaaaah yeah it make sense. :D
A neat lil puzzle game, once I realized you could roll all your dice at once it started to make a lot more sense! On one hand, I'm tempted to say it would've been clearer to have all the dice reveal at once but on the other hand it was a lot more satisfying to click them out one at a time. I did have some trouble understanding how the fire dice interacted with the wood blocks - the fact that it highlighted all of them when I selected it made me think it was going to burn all the connected wood blocks and it took me a little while to get them to burn the right way, which made me think I didn't actually have the right solution.
Thanks!
Yeah, i was thinking about showing only wood tiles that will burn when you hover on them, but didn't have time to implement it.
Hey pretty nice game you got here! I'll admit I'm not a huge puzzle gamer, but this did have a good concept!
I like the idea of placing the right die depending on the circumstance, so either you move or use it to plug up a hole or do other things. Also at worst I was confused why I got the same dice rolls each time... but then I realized that'd be really annoying if the dice were randomized, because then you might at times not be able to complete the puzzle! The one odd thing about this though, is why did we have to reroll the dice if they're the same each time? Was it just for thematic purposed? Nothing wrong with it! Just a thought I had.
Two very minor nitpicks, the first ice level (which I was stuck on for an embarrassing amount of time) I was confused because I though the fire would melt the ice and let me pass through, but it wasn't working. It was only when I eventually tried the ice block on it that I realized it was water to be frozen (to be fair to you your instructions did mention you could freeze/unfreeze water). It didn't really look like water though. Perhaps a way to make it look more watery? Also extremely minor and not much of an issue, but the font got me to misread some things. Like when you first are at the key level, it says something about red key, but at first I thought it said "hey" and my mind went to "hay" (I think I'm tired lol) so I was looking for some red hay for a few seconds!! That's extremely miniscule though, just thought I'd mention it.
Overall though very excellent game!! Well done for all your hard work on it!!
Thank you for your feedback!
Yes, rolling the dice was a "get out of jail free" card so to speak, without it my game had no way of fitting with the theme. I didn't notice it was very loosely following the theme until the end, but now i obviously can't fix it, oh well.
I had an artist draw textures for me, but because he's not mentally there he couldn't finish all the textures and i just used the placeholder i had. I should of made them myself, but oh well.
The font thing might be minor, but i myself had some issues at first with certain letters, to dyslexic people this might be a bigger problem, fixing the font is very easy so no excuses here.
A really cool concept that could go a long way with some thoughful level design. Its a shame the game froze on me but I enjoyed what I played.
Great work!
Nice game ! There are a lot of levels, the gameplay is polished and I really enjoyed the graphics and the humor ! Congratulations !
I first thought this was completely off-theme, but being able to place the dice in the level kinda saved it a bit ^^'. Okay, there are dices, but no real "roll". Yeah, I get it, there is a button to show the dice with "roll" written on it, but it's not a real "roll" : it doesn't impact the gameplay at all and just slows down the progression... But, let's be honest, gameplay-wise, it's WAY better that way. That was the whole problem with that jam : trying to stick to the theme results in a frustrating random-based garbage (99% of the time, at least), but you can quickly be off-theme if you bail from it.
So, is it a good GMTK 2022 entry ? Meh, off-theme in my opinion.
But is it a good game ? Absolutely, I loved it, and you made a great game-design decision here.
Thank you for the kind words!
Yeah, i agree, i wasn't able to utilize the theme... At all
After playing some puzzle games this jam i can see how i could of utilized the theme while still making it non-random, but oh well, i realized that my game was interpreting "roll of the dice" very loosely way too late and i couldn't do much.
Well, as I said, it's okay for me =). I would rather play a good, fun and enjoyable game with clever mechanics that only uses the theme "aesthetically" than an unfun game that ruined the gameplay by forcing the theme into it, and your game is definitely in the first category =D !
Cool puzzle concept! I enjoyed it a lot, while the rolling of the die is a bit unnecessary since it's always the same numbers, it's still a quite satisfying part of the game. Good job!
I wasn't sure how the dice was going to play into it at first since it wasn't random. But then I understood that it was about placing/using them in the right place. Great level designs!
