This game had an excellent presentation with a nice screenline aesthetic. The music did its job and fit the tone. It was fun to play one time but I think my main gripe is maybe it was a bit too luck-based? By the last battle it just felt like all I could do was wait for something good to roll instead of actually strategizing. Overall though, cool little game with great quality.

Developer

Thanks for playing!

My idea was that the player could fully load a die with faces of the type they want to guarantee an outcome, although that definitely is dependant on the player having been able to gather plenty of cash towards the start, and doesn't really account for things like enemy shields etc. Something for me to work on for future!

Cheers for the feedback :)

This entry was awesome! All the little things just add up to make this feel super polished and cohesive. I also am really impressed with the implementation of the dice theme - one of the things I wanted to do in my own entry, but ran out of time to implement, was the purchasing of 'faces' to increase your odds to get something good, and it works SO well in your games' format. Awesome stuff!

Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed :)

It'd have been a great fit for your game too! I'd have been buying more shotgun faces for sure :)

Very cool concept  and fun game with very nice explanations.

I finished it in one go with full health and didn't change my dice configuration much. Maybe I was just lucky. It would also be nice to see your dice config when buying new faces to know what you need.

Developer

Thanks so much! I think in retrospect the difficulty could have been higher, with more incentive to mix things up. Great point on seeing your config whilst buying - would definitely come in handy!

Thanks for playing and for the great feedback :)

I wouldn't call this just a game - this is a masterpiece! such a good presentation!

I am really impressed - well done!

Developer

Thanks so much! Really appreciate this :)

I really love the visuals and the vibes! I like the idea of creating your own dice and that you can combine different actions. Tutorial is very nice and clear, and everything plays very smoothly :) I think there is needed button to skip rolls, as it takes a lot of time, but nothing happens. Also I felt lack of interaction, but honestly can't think of something that would fit into the current setup. Overall, I really like the experience and had fun playing it! Great work :)

Developer

Thanks - glad you enjoyed! Skipping rolls is definitely a needed feature that I'd love to have added, along with just speeding up the process in general.

I think it'd have benefitted from enemy moves that encouraged adjusting dice in between turns a little more, in retrospect - something to encourage adapting plans on the fly rather than setting dice and waiting out the rounds. Still - something for next time :)

Thank you for playing and for your feedback!

Very well made game, extremely polished, and with a lot of potential. I don't know if the game is easy or I got lucky for win in my first try hahaha. GJ!

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much! Definitely on the easy side, but congrats on the win all the same :)

A beautiful looking game. Setting up faces for three different dice does give some strategy to the RNG. Would have been nice if I could keep fighting waves and see how far I get instead of the game just ending and starting from scratch. Enemies could have had extra rolls as well.

The money cheat was just really obvious in the tutorial. It even happened by itself for three rolls before I started forcing it.

Overall, it was a fun experience and the art style is so good!

Developer

Thanks so much! Will definitely be paying more attention to exploits and trying to get rid (or make less obvious!) for future jams.

Love the idea of an endless mode - would definitely be a cool addition with a few more enemy types :)

This is excellent! What did you use to create the music?

Developer

Thanks! Really glad you enjoyed :)

I used Renoise as my DAW, as I really enjoy the tracker-style workflow. All tracks besides the kick drum were made with Retro Boy, and the kick was a Gameboy sample (can't remember where it's sourced from though). There's a bit of light processing from Krush by Tritik on the master channel too, for a bit of extra lo-fi charm!

Let me know if you have any other questions on it :)

Also - still love Easy Blocks!

Thanks! Great stuff, really mature workflow and it shows.

Love the art style! Rolls could be bit faster so the game would have bit more tempo. Great idea and execution. Well done! 👍

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Totally agree the pacing could have been better - I'd also have liked to add an option to click to skip each animation in retrospect. Really glad you liked it though :)

Nice gamedesign. It looks nice. Good luck on your game! ^^

Really love the concept, feels like I'm customizing the mech in an RPG (but with dice) :D

Would love to see more of it!

Developer

Thanks! Would have been really cool to have been able to adjust the design of the mech according to the die faces, now that you mention it!

Submitted(+1)

That was amazing! Very creative using the theme, the mech design is awesome, and I love the screen monitor effect.
The mechanics give the randomness actual strategy. 10/10

Developer

Cheers - really glad you enjoyed the mech design :)

The best tutorial I've seen on jam so far and concrete coding.  Absolutely love the vibe, art and music!
Game offers some interesting choices to make and has a lot of possibilities for future updates!
Would really like to come back at it in its post-jam updates!
Very good entry!

Developer

Thanks so much! I've had plenty of feedback on tutorials from previous jams which has given me a lot to work with, so absolutely delighted to hear that it's paid off :)

Really appreciate the feedback :)

I really liked the nostalgic design! The gameplay also has potential. The game can get really cool)
Developer

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed :)

Love the art style! The concept is fun and seems like it could nicely be expanded.

I feel like I cheesed the game a bit at the beginning by having a dice with three money faces and the two defensive ones against the training dummy, so I had 200$ going into round 2. Not sure if that was intended!

Developer(+1)

Yeah, definitely should have done something about the ability to cheese the first enemy! That one's my bad haha

Thanks for playing and for the feedback :)

Submitted(+2)

For what it's worth I felt super smart doing it, haha!

i love this entry, and it's become one of my favorites! the art style sound effects, and gameplay all mesh together so perfectly that im more than impressed this was made in 2 days. amazing work!

Developer

Thank you so much! Delighted by this :)

Really neat concept and the polish in just 48 hours was incredible.

Developer

Thanks so much! Glad you liked it :)

Wonderful game! Simple and rewarding management of actions, cool graphics and sound! My imagination goes far beyond the levels in this version :)
I'm kinda quickly cracked the best strategy, but it felt deserved. With a bigger array of actions, limitations to spice up the challenge, and more enemies it will be a great game!
Hope to see more in the future!

Developer(+2)

Thanks so much! I'd have loved to add more actions for both the player and the enemy - maybe a few more things that'd encourage modifying faces between rounds for additional challenge :)

Cheers for playing :)

A really fun and well made game, with a nice concept!

Was actually a bit sad when there wasn't more.

Developer

Thanks so much! :)

just awesome, that is the kind of thing that can be add to an RPG.

Developer

Hadn't occurred to me to combine it with an RPG - would be a great fit! Thanks for the feedback :)
