I Love art style and gameplay of your entry !! The aesthetic is really cool :D Great work overall for a 48 hour game jam !! :))
Thanks!
Very cute concept and art work! While I did encounter a bug where the enemies became invisible (the combat still worked fine), I enjoyed playing regardless! Hope to see even more in the future! :)
Thanks for your feedback! Yeah, that bug happens sometimes. But I'm glad you enjoyed it anyway!
Super fun characters! A battle is a little bit too slow to stay in the moment, but the system is solid I think
Alright, thanks for your feedback!
Always a fan of the on-stage theming. Good design choices for the main character. I think the battle system suffered a bit for the theme. Not a bad system but if you decide to move forward I think that it could be tweaked a bit to make something really special. Plus any spiritual descendent of a Paper Mario title has my full support.
Thanks for your feedback! Actually, we are planning to expand this idea into a whole game. I'm glad you liked it 😊
Holy cow this has a high level of polish for a game jam! Thoroughly enjoyed it, very impressed. Despite needing to be there to stay on-theme, i felt the dice rolling attack was hurting more than helping. I died several times because I ended up rolling low at a critical moment. But, that's RNG for you.
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for your feedback! This actually was my first game jam, and I'm very surprised by how well everything went. I think the polish was possible because we implemented it from the beginning, for example, we created the enemy hit animation right when we implemented enemy hitting itself. Also, about the dice: Maybe that's kinda the point, I mean our main mechanic is bad luck.
I love it. It has an upbeat and fun atmosphere and I would suggest a cancel or back button. Also the battle points dont save to the next fight which made me sad since I to save them. The last feedback I can give is that the music in the end while beautiful is rather ominous if not sad/creepy. Other than that very enjoyable! Well done!
Thanks for your feedback! We did think about a back button, but we didn't have the time to add it.
Very nicely done
Thanks, I'm glad you liked the game!
it is a greate way to make a turn based combat game.
got a bug where i started combat but no enemy apeared, so it got stuck at enemy Turn. Fun game but could use some ingame explanation about what to do.
That's right, the battle system is pretty bugged. And yes, we originally planned to create some kind of tutorial, but due to time constrains, we were not able to implement it in the end. Thanks for your post!
Oooooh, I loved it! 'o'
The battles are really well done! It gets a bit easy when you understand that it's about timing more than luck, but since it's inspired by Paper Mario (and it shows ^^), I'm guessing this might be intentionnal.
The Bad Luck mechanic is really interesting too: if you want more powerful hits, you have to let it accumulate, by by doing so you take much more damage. Risk, reward.
And finally, for the visuals, nothing to say: it looks great, the characters are adorable, and the little bow animation at the end of each battle is the cherry on top.
Only weird thing: [spoilers!] when meeting the human in the end, the music gets all gloomy/disturbing, so I was prepared for a boss battle, but nothing happened. (maybe he's just in his emo phase? °^°)
Excellent work, your submission is really great! =D
Thanks for your post! I'm glad you liked the game. You're right, it's more timing-based than it's about luck. About the weird thing, we didn't really have time to get better music right there, since that was added about 10 minutes before the deadline.
This is a lovely game! Made with passion and creativity! Thanks!
Thank you for your post! I'm glad you like the game.
Really lovely entry! Loved the aesthetic throughout--the 8-bit style music was on point. I don't generally like turn-based combat but I *really* liked this system!! Great submission.
This game is great! Short and sweet, with well-built systems that could be easily expanded. I liked the character design and animations. Very cute, nice job.
Yes, I love the animations, too. In my opinion, prestonexists and skwuidwurd really did a great job creating them.
Cool presentation and art... Very fun to play, well done!
Thank you for playing, I'm glad you liked it!
A lot of love and care went into the art and it shows. Despite dying twice, the checkpoint system saved me and let me get to the end fairly easily.
Thanks for the rating! Nice to hear that you enjoyed the game, and you're right, we had some really talented artists (skwuidwurd and prestonexists) working on the art. They did almost everything, except for the map and the battle background, these were done by me. I also really love the animations that they created.
I love how the combat system is inspired by Paper Mario. Although at first I didn't understand that you can use different attacks. Maybe I should have read the game page first. That's why I always lost at the beginning of the game. But I eventually got the hang of it and then the combat system felt good. Unfortunately, at some point I got stuck because there were no enemies with me on the stage. Nevertheless I had a lot of fun. Good job.
Thanks for the rating! The problem you had right there is a bug, the battle system is like a broken vase, hold together by water mixed with salt. Nonetheless, I'm glad you enjoyed the game!
This is the most beautiful way to describe a bug.
There is also a bug where the enemy just moves back and the battle ends, but I decided to call it a feature.
And a bug where the health bars just don't update anymore.
But that's it.
I hope
Like everyone else has said, the cat is definitely cute. It was both adorable and fun to play :)
Thanks for your feedback, nice to hear that you liked the game!
Cat is really cute :) Even though I died I still lived though haha
Cat is cute, but dice is bad.
Always diced lower 3, RNG game.
That is true, but you can bring some strategie into it by planning out you attacks.
This is absolutely amazing! It fits the theme very well and is a unique way to portray it!! Along with that, it is super adorable and fun :))))
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!
