Neat little game. Pretty fun! Livestreamed it here:

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and for your feedback on the stream.

Yea, not sure why I didn't include space bar as a jump input, would've been easy. I will also keep in mind my menu color choices. UI is still a bit new to me, as are most aspects of game dev, lol.

Thanks again. The live feedback while playing is amazingly valuable.

Haha fun game and I like the puns. I didn't find any easter eggs but I  was only taking the route for all the treats and not going back down, so the eggs might be there?

Good job!

Developer

Yea, the egg is off the beaten path a bit in level 4 if you want to look for it. Thanks for playing!

Fun game for sure, there are some idea that are interesting, but unlike the others, I don't like the walk animations, but this is an impressive effort for a game jam and I may be a little bit more critical with that as I am an animation student (even if it is not really obvious in my game XD).

Developer(+1)

LOL thank you for your honesty and feedback. Yea I felt the walk animation was a bit jerky. It's not quite as clean as I was hoping for. It was something I considered redoing on the last day, but I already had all five dogs done and didn't think I'd have time to redo each one. Well 2 animations, 5 different color schemes. I may revisit this game and improve the art and game play since it's gotten such attention for the art style.

Thanks for playing!

Hand-drawn art is a rarity for a jam game, so it's nice to see here. The game is a bit basic, but what it does, it does quite well.

Developer

Thank you for the nice comment and again for playing my game on stream. Can't express how much the real time feedback helped. Gave me a lot to work on for my next game. This is my second full game, so I know I've got a lot of room to grow. Hopefully I can do something a bit more challenging on my next one, maybe puzzles or a shooter.

Hey hey, found it!

Nice reference ;)!

Good job making every assets!

Developer

Ha, awesome! Was hoping it wasn't to obscure. Thought it fit well with the theme. Thanks for playing!

Great game but I didnt manage to find the easter egg :(

Did you have a "Ruff" day ??

ajaajajaja

Developer

Thanks for playing. Gotta love the dad dog puns! LoL

The Easter egg is in the level with the Shetland Sheep dog, look around in there. I put a fair amount of work into it and want people to find it. Kind of has to do with the theme as well.

This is a nice game. More games to come!

Developer

Oh Yea! This is only my second game and I've caught the bug. I'll definitely be joining the next Godot Wild Jam and hopefully make a few games along the way.

Thanks for playing!

seconding (thirding? fourthing?) the comment about the dog walk animation. I think if you did the rest of the game in a similar art style it would be really beautiful

Developer

Thank you for the feedback. Could you elaborate on having a similar art style? Is it just that the environment didn't have a kind of sketched/rough outline like the dogs?

Submitted

Yeah I think just that - art isn't really my area of expertise but that's what I imagined!

Developer(+1)

Awesome, Thank you! I had intentionally done it that way to make the character stand out more from the environment, but I see how that gives it a bit of a disconnect, like they aren't part of the same world. I'll keep this in mind for future games.

I love the dog walking animation. I also like your use of parallax in the background.

Developer

Wow! Thanks, I consider my art work as my weak point but I've been getting a fair amount of compliments to my dog walk animation.

Thanks for playing!

Those dogs were walking with swag.

Developer

LOL

Majestic dogs prancing towards their pun. Loved the jokes!

Could you please share any advice on how you managed to preform such clear transitions and text boxes at the end? Thanks!

Developer(+1)

I followed some great tutorials on YouTube! lol Have to make some changes to fit my needs but it's a great starting point.

Very nice, I like the art and animation of the dogs alot! I finished it but I didnt manage to find the easter egg.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

LoL well you'll have to play it again to find it, HA.

Thanks glad you enjoyed. Please leave a rating if you don't mind. Any feedback you have would be great too as this is only my second complete game and feel I have lots of room to grow.

Hint: I have a Shetland Sheepdog. Maybe the Easter Egg is in that level?
