This was fun! I can totally see this on mobile! Keep it up

This was a great game, it felt like a proper game to in gameplay and execution. I liked the small events to give the it some flavor. I managed to get 25 in each resource before I was unable to dig any lower, at a certain point if I dig down there won't be any slaves/lit torches anymore so there seemed to be a hard limit on how deep you can go xD

I don't know what I can say in terms of improving it, I don't know how important the supports are, if they just support the hex it's in or if they help with the surrounding space as well. It would have been helpful to have some way to check the risk of collapse, like a "heatmap" that can be toggled.

really cool concept, original gameplay! had fun with it, and the events to accept-decline were a nice addition to the gameplay! beautiful art, too! well done.

Really well balanced, I missed by 1 gem on my first play, and made it through on the second play (I'd like to think because of my strategy but who knows!)

It's very on-theme, controls are great, and the music is perfect for this game. Very enjoyable to play through and have recommended to others to play as well. :)

Nice! Felt really polished and you managed to fit a tutorial in there, wow.
Lost my perks after 'digging too deep' and had a little ohshit moment. But despite that, like other commenters said, it was a bit easy. I see you said more hazards were designed but not implemented in this build, would be cool to see! Would rebalance the game also.

Game is very good, i really liked the idea, and i didn't see any bugs (in-game, that is)

spoilers ahead

but UI is a bit off, on my monitor most dialogues look like this, and i can't even click anything, resulting in softlocks after almost any dialogue

also, once you get the old guy mine ost upgrades, you can gain slaves by mining the surface, is this intended? it feels pretty OP

Developer

Thank you!

Yeah, there are some serious issues with UI not adjusting properly to resolution - very sorry about this, 100% my bad. For now, on smaller screens you should be able to avoid this by playing the web version in browser and reducing the page zoom so that the game window fits in (Ctrl + mouse wheel scroll)

Also, good catch! You certainly shouldn't be able to gain slaves like that, thank you for noticing this :)

Really enjoyed my time with this one - I like how the deal with the devil is pretty much your boss / you forcing the workers to mine

Events were a nice twist and even more that they were taken away later

It'll be interesting to see where you could take this possibly with other goals or dangers more than cave ins (maybe something like lava spreading through the mountain)

Developer

Thank you!

Yes, in fact that was exactly the idea - we had at least three "hazards" originally planned: cave-ins, fires and slave riots, wrote the mechanics, drawn the sprites and got the sounds and all - but in the end only had time to properly implement, test and polish one, so had to release the game only having collapses as the only danger. Thanks for the feedback - hopefully will add the rest later when the jam ends!

Excellent! The art and music really worked, and the gameplay was simple but engaging, and the events added some flavor to it.

Loved the mechanics ! The music and the ambiance is really good it's a really nice prototype. I could see this a "wait and play" on mobile.

My only complain (?) is that the game was a tid bit too easy. Some more challenge would of been appreciated. Perhaps I was just really lucky ?

Developer

Thank you!

Yeah, that's true, the balance is off - at some point in development it got pretty hard to win, so I reduced the chance of collapses and increased the chance of finding gems, and so trying to make the game feel more "fair" and less annoying I've overdone it and made it too easy. Will fix it after the jam ends!

Loved it! Especially the random events that could help or hinder your progress

The sound design and story around the game are immersive.

The game is a bit easy. The mine don't collapse often and the old miner make it easier. Moreover the slave limit wasn't an issue. I don't know if I was just lucky or not.

An exciting game! I liked the storytelling and the gameplay. The music was glorious.

From a technical point, I had problems with the resolution (on the desktop and on the web version), at some point I could not continue the game, because I could not choose an answer (it was behind my screen).

The sensations are positive, this is excellent submission!

Really enjoyed the theme music. Not sure what I did but it revealed the stone locations and from that point it was too easy. Nice game.

Developer

Thank you! Yes, that's true, the balance is currently a bit off - I might've focused too much on making it not feel irritating, and it ended up just being hard to lose at some point. Thanks for the feedback!

really nice job!

Awesome job, really loved your visual transition into the mountain. Audio sounds great as well, the pickaxe hits echo like you’re in a mine.

Really nice game :D
