a text-based adventure game where you are a writer who needs to finish writing that story. you have rented this cottage out in the forest so that you cannot avoid it anymore. can you explore the rooms and find the inspiration you need to finish writing your tale? if you reach the end, please share your stories!

This was really fun.. sorry I took so long to get around to playing it!

My story was "spork" heavy for names, objects, and animals haha, but I still enjoyed the resulting story.  Some audio, and an easier way to navigate (maybe just w/a/s/d + enter to move?) would have made it even more enjoyable.

Nice work on refreshing this old genre! :)

I'd say this game is basically a home-run. This is a cool concept and unique among the submissions here. The text interface works well, and there's plenty to explore. I'll be coming back to finish the game completely, but enjoyed what I played so far.

I rarely play text based games so this was novel and fun. Though it admittedly took me a while of blindly moving around before I figured things out.

However, I couldn't figure out how to reach the ending...I got stuck at interacting with a chest that told me there were more pressing matter to do, but I had checklisted everything other than the made-up sound and couldn't find anything else :(

the navigation definitely could have been better! i didn't really get time to playtest it all that much. also, not much of a spoiler, but for the checklist items, they don't always generate in the same rooms, and the location of the last three depend on which floor you visit after the ground floor, but there are always two items to interact with on the ground floor, one in the basement, and two in the attic.

in your case, it is however not impossible that there was a glitch in the map creation process that a room could've been inaccessible. sorry about that!

But it's alright man, I imagine this is normal in a jam game.

Cute and fun. I liked coming up with the different elements of the story, and loved how it all came together at the end. My story was so ridiculous it made me laugh, but I want to play it again! I admit, I typed fart a little too much

YET THE HUNTER NOR THE PREY,

a story by Writer McWriterface

Drake Ultragor was in shock. after dragon had tracked it for months and finally got ready to take over the world, there had been a loud KALINKING! and the snake had just transformed into a flower vase!

I like it.  Apparently, the map is randomly generated. I got stuck on my first playthrough when the first room in the basement was simultaneously a wall. I wish the first letter of the direction would suffice. You had to type it so much since it's essentially a maze navigator. It does remind me that I have a text parser of my own being developed for myself.

thanks for playing! i was hoping to have a different visual system to help the player figure out where they could go, but had to scrap that and the very simplified mini-map was a compromise. the map command also gives a view of your current level (without telling you where you are).
