Nice graphics, I liked the pixel style and the cuteness of main character!
There some improves to be made with the collisions and the mentioned "stick slime bug", but it's in the right direction! There are some precious feedback here, take notes and keep learning! :-)

Nice little game. The main character is cute. I don't know how you build the level, but you could maybe improve the game space using "Y-Sorting"(to walk behind houses  and other assets) on Godot. Good job.

Cute! Make sure you normalize your input vector so you don't move faster when going diagonally :P

Developer

Hi!!! Thanks for playing and for the recommendation. But... How do I do that? - Godot noob here ;)

Any good tut about it?

Submitted(+1)

no need for a tutorial- just check it out in the docs here ;)

you can think of inputs as arrows in a 2d space. basically, if you input right, you have an arrow pointing to the right with a length of 1. if you input up, then you have an arrow pointing up with a length of 1. you multiply this 2D arrow (vector2) by your speed to decide how fast you're gonna go and in what direction (velocity). but if you input both up and right, you actually end up with an arrow pointing diagonally up and right with a length of sqrt(2) (here's a handy diagram). this is because of some pythagorean theorem shenanigans. you have to normalize the input vector, aka make it have a length of 1, otherwise you will be move ~1.4 times faster than if you just went up or right.

wow!!! thanks for the awesome response!!!

had heard that the Godot community was great,  but didn't expect this.

Hope to see you in the next GWJ :D

I also got the sticky slime bug. It was a cute game, though! I thought the player move speed was a little too fast for my liking, but that's a personal thing I suppose. Thank you for sharing!

Developer

Thanks for playing!!!

This one has the feel of "Cat Box" from GWJ#63, but with more pixel polish.

I also experienced the sticky slime bug, but you could make that a feature by introducing a grabby function when a slime does touch you, so you need to use random movements to shake it off or continue losing health.

In the end, it's an alright game. Shoot higher, and come back in January!

Developer

Thanks for the comments and for the slime idea!! I'd for sure come back in january!

Nice game! Despite the slimes, is very cozy. I just want to warn you about a bug: Sometimes, the slime "sticks" in the player, so I can't move.

Developer

Thanks for playing! I'll look into that bug since it for sure is annoying. :)

The graphics are very cute, reminded me of older Pokemon games, its quick and I beat it first try which is alway nice, just one tiny thing is that the character moves quicker in diagonals. Good job!

Thanks for playing! A "pokemon-like" game might be an interesting idea for this assets :P

Good game.  Level design and flow was cool.  Graphics were endearing like an old school Secrets of Mana RPG game.  UI design was nice too.  I wish there were sounds and music.  You can add a force back onto the slime when they hit the player so that they don't get stuck on the player's head and the velocity gets all wonky.  Keep it up :)

Developer

Thanks for the comments and for playing! I'd try to implement the "hit force" for the slimes, really hated that collision bug but didn't know how to solve it (or had time for it) :)

The controls are very smooth and fun. The winter mood is very cool and i like how the ennemies are effective!
