Great game! I love the idea and the jump mechanic. The graphics and animations are fantastic!
Really love the mix of turn based combat with a realtime jump mechanic. Art style is fantastic, very enjoyable ;D
Very well done on the art polish. The character design is great, and the combat icons and design was fun! I liked the mix of gameplay and would love to see this continued further. Great job!
Super cute! While the submission is unfinished, I'm super glad you decided to put it up anyways. It was an absolute joy to see the animations and experience the combat system. I see that you have a more complete version up. Will definitely be giving it a play!
The combat system really reminds me of super mario rpg and I loved it. It's a difficult type of game to do in jams because it takes so much time to have good fighting mechanics and interface not to mention the overworld movements. Congrats on trying this, I've seen that you have continue to work on it, I'll go check that.
Great art and fun battle mechanic :)
Regarding the battle system, I didn't find the target pointer intuitive, as it appeared on all enemies I thought it was an area attack, it took me a while to perceive the animation on top of the enemy selected.
Thanks for the feedback!
Amazing aesthetics + good gameplay :D I wish that you could finish it, but I am glad that you decided to put it anyway
I really hesitated to put it so thank you very much to say that! I made a more complete version here if you want to try ^^ : https://piroporopi.itch.io/chococastle-post
I will try it out!
quite rabbit, I love the idea that i can doge in battle
thanks!
I like the visuals very much!!!
At first play I thought that the game is so raw, that you can't even beat the first rival, but then I saw a commentary about jump dodge, and everything goes well after it :D It's very unclear without a tutorial, that you can dodge. Also z key is not very intuitive
Also, the descriptions says that z is qwerty (jump for some reason) and w is awerty. What does it means? :D
Thanks for your comment, glad you liked the art! Yeah the jumping mechanic is easy to miss sorry ^^' Azerty is the french keyboard, I used Azerty mapping for my playtest and i didnt know how to check the mapping the player use in godot, so I wrote both in the UI ><
oh i see! didn't know about different layouts :O it's very thoughtful to give instructions for different keyboard layouts, it's just need some more attention, for people to know about mechanic!)
Your artwork and animation is incredible!! I found a 'secret' room with a bunch of other character sketches placed inside — I love the designs!
Gameplay wise, it took me a minute to realize I can jump during enemy attacks to dodge. That helped a lot, because I wasn't sure why I was dying so easily.
Really solid framework you have started! Can't wait to see more
Thank you so much I'm glad you liked the art! Wow I didn't realise you could go to that room! You can see some of the early characters I planned to have in game, I really was too ambitious for the small timeframe ^^. I uploaded a more playable version you can find it in the description! ✨
Nice Jrpg. I see it is not fully completed(gray blocks etc), but still very nice idea, nice visuals. I am missing remap controls though.
Thanks for the feedback!
