Think Inside the Box and Here Comes the Sun
Game Description
In the shadowy depths of a cave awakened by seething lava, your essence melds with that of a soul-infused Shuriken, yearning for freedom. "Think inside the box," the ancient wisdom whispers as you navigate through perilous spikes and treacherous edges, the lava's relentless pursuit a fiery testament to your resolve. Master the art of the combo, for in precision lies the path to survival, and with each daring escape, your score ascends like the rising sun. Yet, beware, for as the sun pierces the cavern's mouth, it seeks to blind you, challenging your journey with its blinding light. This is not just a game; it's the dance of the ninja, where agility meets the undying spirit, and every turn could be the last in your quest for liberation.
How does your game tie into the theme?

Very fun game! I liked the feeling of the controls and the overall graphics. The only downside, in my opinion, is that the sun appears a bit too often and blinds the player too much. It isn't a big problem though, it just needs of some little twaeking. In the end I was able to complete the game, and I've had good time. It reminds me of the good rage-games. Congrats, nice job!
This was interesting. It kind of reminded me of some of the castles in Super Mario World.
The music was good as well.
Nice job!
I dig the way the movement works. Feels almost like it could be rage game-y (kind of is with the sun, haha) or would potentially work really well on mobile.
The sun mechanic is a bit extreme I think. It's an interesting idea, and being able to cling to a wall or just sit while it passes can work okay, but several times I just found myself a bit confused when the sun would go away and I was back at the bottom.
Overall, interesting mechanics and what feels like a good base to expand on. Great work!
Cool and addicting game. That Sun is annoying as hell though. Good job!
MOST EPIC LOAD SCREEN MUSIC EVER!!
I was pretty hyped up when the game started thanks to the music.
I think you took "Reason to Hate the Sun" a little too far lol. I hate the sun... and I'm blind. It was so bright!!! I found that mechanic to be a bit frustrating tbh. I couldn't really get in the groove of this AWESOME GAME MECHANIC.
The mechanics are super fun and responsive. I was really enjoying the simplicity of it and would have loved a more minimalist game without all the craziness. The sun completely blinding the screen was really annoying, and the powerups mostly were a death sentence which launched me directly into spikes and traps. Also why does a shuriken make a human death sound when you hit the spikes? Maybe there should be a little pilot in the center of it and this is like their mode of transportation so the sound would make sense.
Overall really interesting and fun game which could be really fun to keep playing if the penalties and hazards were toned down quite a bit. Great work!
PS: The music doesn't loop so after a few minutes the game starts to feel pretty empty.
Thanks for the comments. The powers ups are actually supposed to be enemies that explode when destroyed which launches you up. They increase your combo but have that drawback of potentially killing you from the after shock. I also thought about limiting the number of jumps one has. The Shuriken is soul infused so the scream is coming from the mind of the soul inside the Shuriken. I remembered the music loop bug but got sidetracked doing the opening splash screens. I intend to update this game and make the sun less bright and shorten the time where it's really bright. The trick to the game is to hang on the wall and only move decisively. Thanks again for playing.
Oh nice! I actually missed the wall-hanging completely! That changes a lot. Thanks for mentioning this!
Impressive music. Simple mechanic but hard to master. Nice one!
I really like the game and the use of wildcards. The controls are very good. Controls are easy to learn and hard to master. Good job
Nice! Good controls, good core game-loop. I like the effect of the sun.
Great game! I liked the use of the wildcard - Here comes the sun to actually relevant to gameplay. It seems it would make a good mobile game if you polish it a bit.
It was cool, but I was a little confused. What were those count-downs? How do I build combo?
The red countdown is a warning for when the lava will start rising. And the blue countdown is when the lava will stop rising.
You hit the hexagon objects (green, blue, orange) to increase your score combo by 1.
