THIS IS INCREDIBLY COOL. I can't tell you how much fun I had with this, I was really immersed when playing. Idk if you were going for a spooky vibe but I was shitting my pants the entire time I was in the monster world. The forge mechanic was also super well made, never felt like I was making useless garbage, and felt really rewarding after I crafted the sword. I also like how the items don't disappear when switching stages. Incredibly well done, my favorite game of the jam.

5 stars on audio just for the microwave sounds. Amazing.

Overall, extremely impressive scope and execution with lots of depth. The visual style was really cool. I really liked what this game was going for, had an overall positive experience, but I also had some negative points during my experience that I want to share:

Atmosphere: 10/10! Really feels desolate and barren, and even a bit scary and menacing in the collection world. But while the atmosphere was absolutely successful, it also feels a bit empty, despite having lots of monsters and things to find. Maybe some atmospheric sound or music could help fill the void a bit. I also kept moving towards the bright white pixels, only to discover when I got closer it was the monsters' teeth! I really thought they were points of interest !

Item crafting: SUPER COOL how the items combine in different unexpected ways. I made a dumbbell which was like an infinite health potion! Totally unexpected but I really liked the feeling of discovery and the surprise of the unexpected. Made it feel a lot less scary to go back to the hellscape and farm for items with my healing powers.... BUT THEN...

Item pickup: Aww man.. you mean I have to drop my dumbbell out in the middle of nowhere if I wanna pick up this stick? Unless I missed something obvious, I really didn't like the limited inventory problem. It felt kinda bad to drop my cool item for a piece of scrap :(

I don't hold my critiques against the rating of this game. I loved the technical design of the game, solid controls and combat in a 3D environment. Super impressive!! Kudos for the scope and executing everything so well. A few tweaks and quality of life improvements would make this concept really shine!!

PS Also really funny that the furnace is like a microwave. Made me chuckle :D

Great job!!

Just could not get it working I'm afraid. Was stuck only able to face one way - think the mouse movement might not have been captured. That was on the web version, the Mac download was broken as you warned. Shame as judging by the comments there is quite a lot to this game

Developer

Oof, sorry. I was really rushing to make those exports and didn't have time left to tinker with the Mac export. I hoped that the web version would suffice, but it's strange that it also didn't work. On Windows the web version runs just fine, so I'm not sure what is the issue there. Sorry :(

I enjoyed playing through this game, and can' t really think of any complaints.  It's impressive for a jam effort, if not a little drawn out once you sort out what to do.  I did find myself with a few genuine moments of panic driven by the impending night, medallion in hand, kudos for making me sweat a little!   Good effort, fun game.  Also, loved the funace-done sound, got a chuckle from that. Edit: have to say, a bit more polish on combat would have gone a long way, since it' s such an important part of the game.

Thanks for reviewing my game, glad you enjoyed it :))

This was cool! I really liked the atmosphere - the little bunker felt really cosy somehow haha. I found it a bit confusing at first because I didn't realise I needed two items on the bench, so maybe that could be added to the tutorial board's text? I was also a bit confused about what I was actually supposed to do with the objects haha - I made a dumbbell but it didn't seem to help me fighting or anything? Like someone else said, it would have helped quality of life a lot if you could hold multiple items and take them back!

I was really impressed with the overall feel and atmosphere - the particle effects and pixel shader looked really nice, and the overall vibe felt quite polished!

Glad you enjoyed it :) I agree that I didn't do a good job teaching player the mechanics, but I'm happy you still enjoyed it.

Also, there is no pixel shader, it's just low resolution without antialiasing !

Oh right! Well it looks really cool, I definitely wanna mess around with that in my next 3D project haha!

Really mysterious and intriguing game. I loved the sound effects that participates well to the ambiance (and the furnace that sounds like a microwave). It was super cool trying combinations for weapons and killing the monsters after struggling the first day. Super good entry !

Thank you for the kind review :3

Had a great time playing this game ! it  has a really nice style and graphics, and it runs perfectly fine on my laptop. The medallion is quite hard to get, as the monster's drop rate is quite low so I had to restart few times to finally obtain it, I guess it's part of the game ! it's also  satisfying when you see a monster finally dropping a part of it.
if I had one thing to say, it is that  having only one slot for items/tools is a bit tedious, as you have to drop your tool if you want to pick a new object, and it's hard  to find it again with the fog. Maybe a third slot for items, or the possibility to drop  the hammer at the forge would be cool ?
I would definitely play it again if you add some more content !

Hey, this was a really cool game! I hadn't read the description so was pleasantly surprised when the elevator arrived at the surface. The enemies worked well for the game and I felt a good amount of tension when seeing how close the sun had become to the horizon. The craftables were also very cool and fun to use. My only criticism from what I experienced would be the sword/hammer didn't feel as satisfying to use due to the speed of the attack (though this may of course be an intentional choice, especially if its in reference to older games).

Developer

Thanks for playing! When player is happy, I am happy :D The animations were just kinda rushed,  so yeahh

Really fun! The sound effects were really funny. I love games that have a slight weirdness to them and this one was perfect.

Hey fun game - I was surprised when I forged a rocket. It liked the consistency in the art style and the bonking sound of the hammer. Would of enjoyed having a second inventory slot as I had to keep running back to pickup my sword, so it felt like I couldn't make as much use of the cool stuff I forged.

Thanks for the feedback! Glad you enjoyed it :)

this game is sick but it gives me a little bit of ocean sickness. Hammering the anvil was so satisfying/

I love the oldschool style and movements. I coudn't really manage to forge anything though, I probably didn't do it right :D. I had to stop because I get motion sickness, otherwise I would have loved to explore further. The enemies were quite scary btw haha

Developer

Thanks for trying it out! Can I ask what caused the motion sickness? How could I reduce it?
