Pretty fun game. Couldn't figure out what the anvil was actually for tho. I really liked the idea of attacking with negative and opposite charges, took a little to figure out but was nice to have something original.
It is a very interesting game with engaging but somewhat complex mechanics to my taste. It’s fascinating to navigate through the host of monsters while also thinking about the positive and negative charges. Still, I would prefer some basic, less brain-intensive attacks for a change. The helpers were super helpful until the host of monsters became too large. Then, it was hard to do anything. I shouldn’t let them grow, but I only got into mechanics after losing some 10 HP. That’s probably due to personal incompetence in such games.
I noticed one minor problem: in rare cases, enemies can hide behind the large crystals and can ambush you. You cannot deal with it because they are entirely hidden behind. I didn’t quite understand what the forge itself was doing.
I love the art! It's one of the best pixel art I've seen this jam :D The audio sfx really ties into the retro gaming style.
I would love a tutorial page or instruction page beyond the controls! I figured out halfway that repelling/attracting the electrons damage enemies. There are a few times when I summon a mage and I forget that its not an enemy XD But I noticed you've already tried to increase the readability by using red outline on enemies (I'm just dumb).
Yaay, I won! 9m26s. Used 25 helpers. After figuring out the game, I had a fun time. Still don’t quite get what the electrons are about though…
It took me about a minute or so to figure out what was going on with the electrons and to swap polarity for attacks. I couldn't figure out what the anvil with hammer in the middle was actually doing or for, as the bar never seems to fill up? I'm also curious, from the win screen, what was expanded for this jam specifically, since it was built for Ludum Dare 55? The crystals were also a nice touch to help clear.
With that said, the feeling of the game is great. The art is stellar, and I would love to know how you accomplished this sort of lighting. The audio was on point and very good. Great entry.
I loved the visuals and audio effects! I didn't understand the what to do that well, so I just kept killing the monsters. Nice variety of enemies, charming visuals, pretty fun as well, a damn good game!
Awesome game!! I absolutely loved the visual style and atmosphere, everything played so lovely and the upgrades felt very impactful without taking away the challenge. And while the way to play wasn't immediately clear I also enjoyed that figuring it out came naturally from walking/clicking around a bit and seeing what happens, I guess it sort of felt appropriate for the experience to just be thrown in. I made it to the end in 10 minutes flat! Fantastic job!
Absolutely gorgeous art style and effects,, and the movement of the particles and enemies felt very smooth which I'm sure took alot of time. The addition of helpers was a nice touch as well. I will say things did tend to feel a bit busy at certain points, and I feel like maybe changing the colors of the particles or adding a symbol or something to differentiate them might make them a bit easier to pick out at a glance to tell when to switch polarity.
Clearly a lot of time and effort was put into this, and it really shows, excellent job!
nice! i was a bit confused about what was happening but i think i figured it out well enough in the end. very charming pixel art with great visual effects.
I really liked the aesthetics. Had to play a couple times to understand what I was doing. Nice submission!
Great visuals and atmosphere, and nice sounds too. I didn't really understand what was going on most of the time, I just went around summoning little guys and the enemies kept dying. What do the buildings do?
The visuals are beautiful, game is hard to understand at first, it’s well thought out at the higher level but it’s not beginner friendly. Regardless, it’s good work!
I won ! YAY :D
VERY fun game. The mechanic was hard to understand at first, but once I got into it it was very fun to weild around a ton of lighting orbs.
For me the experience was good because I didn't loose, but I think the game really got fun once there was a lot of enemies and I lost control, which took a long time to happen. Regaining said lost control by understanding the syngergy between summons and your own electron generation was the most fun I had playing a gam this jam (yet).
Edit : I forgot to talk about the audio. It is VERY, VERY good. Congrats.
Wowza, incredibly juicy game~! The game was instantly addictive. Movement felt crispy and late-game electron repelling goes crazy. The SFX really did add to the chaos of it all and it had me hooked.
I did feel a little overwhelmed trying to understand what was going on. Took me a minute to figure out how electrons worked (haven't thought about them since middle school). Maybe slowly introducing the player to each mechanic might help? However, the tutorial elements and description you had on the page did help to puzzle things together.
Regardless, awesome stuff!
Sfx, environmental music, lights and shaders are great and together make an amazing atmosphere. I really enjoyed playing this game! Congratulations
