i am a star trek fan so this game was very satisfying for me. i don't know what it is, but there's something entertaining about looking a bunch of sensors and diagnostics and tweaking this or that or whatever settings. the visual effect in the background of all of it is excellent too

i enjoyed the narrative, but the VO is noticeably absent in the second half of the game

overall, nice work! congrats on the placement

Developer

Yay, thank you! We're really happy with the placement. I watched a bit of ST, too, so I'm glad we were able to make something that connects with a similar audience.

Thanks for checking out the game and leaving feedback!

this was an intense experience. rather slow paced, but it left room for contemplation. I got a kick out of watching the time dilation in relation to the station. the audio was especially noteworthy to me, from the sparse voice-over to the brooding ambient music.

I didn’t feel like there was much to do, but maybe that’s the point — in this kind of situation, I guess all you can do it wait for the inevitable, while making sure all systems are running smoothly. I wish I could at least look around, but maybe this would mess with the framing of the visual effect. really interesting submission anyway!

Cool game, almost a simulator. Can't even imagine how well you should know shaders to make this... or do it uses shaders?
Would be cool to look arround (if it isn't a prerecorded video)

Really good, thumbs up!

Truly an astonishing game.
Despite being buried under all the space based games here, this one is the most unique one.
Excellent story telling, and amazing voice acting! You could tell how fed up the scientist felt with their mission
Graphics are amazing! Even if some of the shaders were borrowed you've managed to put them together very well.
It's gameplay of switching between  different ui incentivized player to multitask their way to the great unknown and was a great pick for the monologue of the scientist.
To get to the little details I loved the fact that time sped up once the player was approaching the black hole.
To put it all simply, I enjoyed the heck out of this game, Good job to you and your team!

Thanks for all the kind words! I remember you made my favorite game from the first GWJ I participated in, so hearing that this was a meaningful experience for you is extra special for me.

Celyk ported the shader for this jam, so I think we got to be the first to use it in Godot. We're really grateful for his help. I've made some shaders, but that probably would have taken me most of the jam.

I'm glad someone noticed the time-dilated clocks. In my attempt to simplify the math, I accidentally made `Δtime => ∞` at the singularity, instead of the event horizon. I'm relieved it still had an emotional impact despite that.

Thanks again for playing and the feedback!

Great voice acting and music, the visuals are impressive aswell, the final part was quite fun with the increased difficulty, the mechanics are relatively simple but they interact wich each other pretty well.

Very cool graphics!

Wow, what a gorgeous game. The help icons were unreadable because they went off the screen but for the most part I figured it out myself. Reminded me a bit of Mu Cartographer, which is one of my favorite games. The music was gorgeous and I think the voice acting was great but I couldn't really tell because there was no ducking so I couldn't hear it very well. All in all fantastic work, all of you.

This is my favourite entry of the jam so far! The art, sound, concept and stories all blend together. I felt really immersed for such a short experience.

I would also love to know how you did the visuals of the blackhole. Maybe you can point me to the scene / shaders etc in your github?

Developer

Thanks for the kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed the experience :-)

The black hole (and sky) shader were both the work of Celyk. He's part of a group of VFX artists that volunteered to take requests during the Godot Wild Jam. It turned out so well, I was determined to make it the visual set piece. Here's the shader in the repo:  https://github.com/Maaack/GWJ69/blob/main/assets/shaders/black_hole.gdshader
