Game Description
Demon Island is a Momotaro-themed match 3 battle game.
How does your game tie into the theme?
Momotaro is a Japanese folk-tale. We pull from this folklore in the theme and art of the game. We used the characters from the story to inspire the game mechanics.

One of my favorite submissions, I really liked this a lot! The unique mechanic of having the matching tiles do something specific in the battle when cleared is very interesting.
Really nice job, I'd love to see this updated, it's really good.
For me, it just froze right after the first level was won, it said I leveled up and then the whole thing just stopped working.
Not sure if that's because that's just how far you got, or maybe it's some sort of bug only I encountered.
Glad you liked it! So sorry you ran into a bug, we had all the way up to the boss completed but it seems like a few people got stuck after the fourth or so battle. We'll definitely be coming back to this because we have a lot of ideas so we'll make sure to fix that.
I was so happy when I discovered that this was a tile matching game mixed with a battle system. I have been wanting to make a game like this for a while and I'm very inspired by your submission. If you added a bit more feedback/game juice I think this would elevate it even higher, nice job!
Really glad you liked it! Yeah we were going to spend our entire last day doing that but man we just got burnt out and couldn't do it. We'll be coming back to it though!
Very cool submission
I didn't 100% understand the effects, but the match3 combined with the battles worked very well.
I died for the final boss, but really had fun playing it. Congrats for the entry 🥳
Fun game, with really nice art style and story concept. The music was also really good. The words could move lil slower or we cud have a next button in the cutscene as they were a lil too fast for me.
It can only reach the 4th level, and it freezes on the map screen :c, but what I was able to play was very fun, the concept is interesting and I like how it is combined with the strategy of leveling up the characters.
The art is also well taken care of, a shame for the bug.
Great work! :D
Ack, apparently that happened to someone else as well. I'm sorry to hear about the bug and we'll try to fix that when we go back to it, but thanks for playing!
The webversion seems a bit slow, might be my internet but I am not able to play it unfortunately.
I'm sorry to hear that. It is a larger game so we'll probably change it to a downloadable form in the future
Aha, I found your game (briefly interacted on Discord).
Nicely executed. Felt really awesome when the combo chains came down. I liked the children's picturebook-like art style as well. Kudos to you guys :)
Thanks :)
I like the art style! My only issue is that the into cutscene moves so fast I could only read half the words on each panel
Thank you, and noted! It was hard to tell how fast it should go after I had been messing with the timing for too long haha
Fun idea for the theme and had fun! For some reason it didn't let me hit the "battle" on for the 4th so I was not able to progress - but I really enjoyed the concept and first 3 levels!
I'm sorry to hear about that! That's not a bug that we encountered while playtesting (it seems like it doesn't happen most of the time) but hopefully we can fix that in a later version. I'm glad you enjoyed it anyways!
Banger game really liked it! Managed to beat it!
Thank you!
