Godot Version
latest stable version (probably that's 4.2.2. And we used the GDScript version)

Wildcards Used
in this submitted version, probably none (We attempted to use all 3 of them in this idea, but they may not have made it too strongly into this submission)

Game Description
Discover the secrets of this world as you hunt the legendary Quetzalcoatl, and....Bigfoot!!!

How does your game tie into the theme?
Quetzalcoatl, Bigfoot are very deeply rooted in folklore. There was also much more planned on how folklore was deeply rooted into the idea and story itself, but may not have made it too clearly into this submission.

Love the use of both Quetzalcoatl and Bigfoot here. The game was challenging and fun! Great job with the settings and accessibility, best I've seen this jam.

I couldn't beat the flying monster. I wished dodging its attacks was more reaction based rather than just happening to be in a safe spot when the attack commences.

Interesting idea, it was fun.  The Quetzalcoatl hitbox was devastating though.

The shoot-em-up part of the game played pretty well even though simple. I wish I could see the dinosaur version of Quetzalcoatl (I like dinosaurs)! The big-foot portion of the game was a bit too plain to me but I don't know maybe I just sucked. lol

Anywho, Well done. I feel like this could be a demo of a bigger game. It'd be cool if every popular myth is a different mini game...

Interest take on the theme. After reading the description was hoping was something a little more than just two minigames though, not many secrets to discover. The artwork and the music was pretty good and enjoyed the bigfoot game. Unfortunately the Quetzalcoatl game was too difficult and the hitbox problems made very frustrating, especially when you freeze the game when you die to see how far away your ship was for the enemy/shots.  Unlike others I enjoyed the ramp up in difficulty and if the hitbox was fixed I would have really liked it. The healing of the enemy was original and the additional fireballs really made you feal the enemy getting tougher. Unfortunately the hitbox problems just kept popping up, would really like to replay this if that got fixed.

Thanks for submitting, impressive for first submission, keep them coming.

Pretty cool entry ! For the Quetzalcoatl minigame, the art is cool with good colors, the music is cool and sound effects are too, the game is fun even if I found it really hard and couldn't beat it. I still didn't understand why there was 2 health meter and it sometimes feels unfair or frustrating when the enemy launch fireballs at you when going down/ up or when he goes down and you're too close to escape with your speed (because you have to be below him to shoot him). Despite that it is still cool with no bugs and works well. As for the bigfoot minigame, the environment and characters sprites are good, the music too, and the game like the first one works well with no bugs. I felt like it was however too simple and easy compared to the first one. Overall the idea of fighting these two creatures is cool, and I had fun with your entry. Good job !

The plane fight was confusing with the two heath bars, and would have liked to see a projectile with the bigfoot scenario. I think I would have preferred one polished game over two disjointed ones. I did like the art on bigfoot.

very fun game!!

This was great fun! I liked how it was split into two separate games. The Quetzalcoatl fight was actually really challenging. I'd like to have seen maybe a "special" attack from bigfoot - maybe he charges to mix it up a bit?

Also, BEST accessibility controls I've seen so far!! Great job on that. And great job on the game overall!

I like that there are two minigames here and the art for the bigfoot one especially is nice. I think some additional info on Quetzalcoatl’s health bar would be helpful and agree with other feedback around that fight. Good first submission - well done!

The ascend and descend feature was a nice touch! There were some feedback things that had me confused such as when I was taking damage, but overall a fun experience to play through. Great job

I enjoyed the mash-up of two different kinds of games, and FWIW I'd say you did accomplish the transfer takeover wildcard by swapping between the plane and the hunter.  As others have pointed out, there's some balance issues: one is much too hard, the other is much too easy, some additional mobility would help for the plane.  It wasn't totally clear to me what the two health bar numbers at the top represented, some additional conveyance (or just a tutorial splash screen on first play) might help here.

Nice game idea. As others said, the flying enemy is way too hard and bigfoot is way too easy to beat. Its basically impossible to beat the flying enemy due to the delayed missiles and his dash attack. Great work on the settings menu though. There are so many options and settings to choose from including controller support!

Submitted

cool idea! although the Quetzalcoatl is pretty hard (I got it to 5 hp, but then died) I like how you implemented the health system - it looks like a good way to stop players from speedrushing that enemy. Also the switch to the ground battle was fun. Maybe it would be fun to give the switches more meaning (instead of giving the player the choice, you would always descend after losing the sky battle and always ascent if you win on the ground?)

Great concept of hunting down mythical creatures, I totally dig the change in perspective.  Echoing what others have said, they where at opposite ends of the spectrum challenge-wise, but to be expected given the time constraints.  I appreciate trying to get controller support in.

I loved the absolutely gorgeous settings menu.

Music is great, but would love to see more sounds and maybe main menu theme.

The akzelotl flying dragon is way too difficult, pretty much impossible, you can't really evade its attacks, and health bar is very mysterious with different colors and everything and there are two of them and nothing is explained and it's invincible.

Now the bigfoot is very easy. Hunter easy cools it. Bigfoot has one stupid attack. His brain must be as big as a grain of sand.

If you say you have open source, you should link to it. If you say "some may be open source, but I dunno" that's absolute bullshit.

Credits menu is outrageous. "Person1. Person2". What does that even mean?

I don't understand why there are two scenarios, but the Quetzalcoatl scenario could be more polished, especially the collisions of the projectiles and those of the beast's body itself.

good job anyway! :D

I don't quite understand what shooting down kites in aeroplanes has to do with yetis, but the aeroplane game is very difficult, while the other mini-game is very easy. I like the dragon sprite.

Nice little game!  Love the retro style. I beat Bigfoot, but never quite got that last hit in on the Quetz.  I feel like the player hitbox could be a fair bit smaller and the Quetz a bit bigger, and perhaps move the rockets a bit faster.  The flames were a tad annoying in how they could occupy the same horizontal space as the player character, forcing me into a corner with no recourse but to let the flame die out before I can move again.  I'd love to have been able to move the character plane forward and backward, even just a little, to skip around those flames.
The art is great, and holy wow did you get some menu options going in there.  Not all of them work, but just having that depth of options in a game jam game is very surprising.  Well done, and thanks for giving us a game to play!

The graphics were well-drawn, though I wish there was animation in the Quetzalcoatl game like in the Bigfoot minigame. I beat bigfoot on the first try, but couldn’t beat Quetzalcoatl. The music is quite nice, too, in both games.
