I enjoyed the story. All interactions coming from the options menu felt confusing. Especially with how much you use the map I think ideally that would be present on the screen at all times.

Cute game and cute dog! Lots in common with our game too, even down to the food fetch quest joke lol. I enjoyed meeting all the characters and it was cool switching to the dog and exploring the different dialogue options. I’m a fan of the art especially. Well done!
Pancaaaaaakes! Very charming art and I was surprised to find a day/night cycle. I may have accidentally sequence-broke the game by finding the ring and fishing before getting the request from the NPCs to do that, but overall great job for your first submission!
Hi! Thanks for the compliments! I’m glad you liked our art :D As for the sequence-break, in the code I checked if you had specific conversations with other NPCs so the requests would more or less be in the correct sequence. Having the items in advance would skip some alternate dialogue and some of the additional lore I put in those paths, but as long as you never gave an item that you didn’t already have, then it was working as intended :D Thank you!
Feels like a prototype of a game but there's not much game in the game. The few dialogues as a dog are cool, but that's basically it. Not, let's get through each issue one at a time.
- All menus are in "Options". What the heck? And each time you open it, there's a one-year-long animation. Absolutely terrible game design decision.
- As a man, you can only gather berries. That's it. You can't fish. You can't talk. Nothing. ???
- No fullscreen mode.
- You can get infinite rings as a dog. And yet, they are useless.
I'm not really sure how I should feel about this, but feels very uncompleted. Nothing really works in here.
Very cute art! I think some sound effects based on interactions would help the feel of the game a lot and disguise the short background music loop. Solid gameplay and everything’s there, maybe some QoL tweaks for how to access things. Nice game!
(Update) OH! I forgot to mention the banner on the page is SO good. I may or may not have spent a couple minutes wondering how you got itch.io to show an image as the “start game” background
Took me a while to figure out how to get out of the inn, but I had fun figuring out the trades!
Great art style - very cohesive and it knows exactly what it's trying to deliver. I like the "one small favour" approach to the story i.e. a chain of fetching things for people, and cool way of tying in the wildcard by playing as the dog!
If I had to nit-pick, I'd say maybe switch the background audio up a bit - it did start to get a bit repetitive. Also (as someone else pointed out) it would be cool if the map/trades were icons of their own on the UI.
Other than that, amazing job for the time limit!
Nice little game, some small bugs but they don't break the game, I have a suggestion, maybe try to make the game a full point'n click game would be cool. Also, it's kind of not intuitive how the map and the inventory are in the options menu, I've spend some time to learn how to leave the Inn until I clicked options, maybe add the map in the HUD of the game could be better.
Congrats and good luck!
Hello! Thank you for your feedback! Regarding the controls, we did try to simplify it towards the end but it probably would have been easier to plan it from the start haha. I like your suggestion! I’ll put the HUD suggestion in the backlog for post jam changes! (Ps may I ask what bugs you observed?) Thanks!
