I think at it's core, this game is great! But the execution is lacking. The seasons mechanic is a fun way to make the platformer interesting. However there are the thorny hazards that are hard to notice, and running into one makes you start all over. Also it took me quite awhile to realize I was dying instead of the game bugging out, something to indicate death other than a respawn would be nice. Also, actually changing the seasons is clunky with having to press the sleeping button again, I would have liked just clicking the season to wake up.

I'm actually keen on this type of game, but unfortunately there's a lot that bothers me. The character's movement is very fast/slippery. Every time you die, you start all over again and everything does a one hit kill. I find the music a bit annoying and unfortunately I haven't found any settings for it. Really good concept and the graphics are good, but everything else could be improved.

There are really good ideas in this game!

The formula for the passage of the seasons is particularly very cool!

I wish the dangerous elements were more obvious, but that didn't stop me from having a great time!

I love the idea, the is alien awesome too. As someone else said, the spikes blend into the background a lot. I also found the alien would slide around a bit when platforming, specifically on the first jump. Overall great submission!

I really like the idea of an alien who can sleep/fast forward through seasons to change the terrain!

Feedback:

  • The spikes in Summer, Autumn, Spring looked like flowers and blended in too strongly to the background, leading to frustrating deaths with no checkpoints. I switched to winter for a better view, but inevitably would switch back to Spring for a flower, and then want to stay in the flow and then step on a spike-flower. :)
  • Accessing the seasons menu was a bit confusing. Q opened the menu and then I would have expected clicking on a season to change it. With no visible selection, it wasn't clear that I had to push Q again to close the window and enter a new season.
  • Camera felt too tight, for my tastes, based on the size of the character and world. Lots of blind jumps that again, felt more anxiety inducing than fun given the lack of checkpoints.
  • The idea of changing seasons didn't really feel like "unintended" consequences to me, but rather an expected gameplay mechanic.

Great work on this!

The arstyle of the game is awesome, I love it. I think the controls, as others have said, could definitely use some work. With a platformer, you want to feel like when you die it's your fault, not the game's fault, like you shouldn't have to compensate for the game's controls. As someone who made a platformer with bad controls before, I get it though, it's hard to find a good balance lol.

Other than that the game mechanics are fine, maybe if the death objects like brambles stood out more it wouldn't be so annoying when I died to them, but yeah, overall it's not a bad game by any means, I'd say more just an unpolished one. Great job anyways, I could definitely see this being something really cool with a few tweaks here and there!

This game has great potential, and cute pixel art, but the controls did feel too slippery, and given that the jumps need to be precise it did make it to progress far into the game, especially since there seems to be no checkpoint (or I didn't get that far because I suck at platformers lol) But other than that I wish the season swap would happen faster rather than needing to rest and change seasons, it feels like it slows down the gameplay too much? Other than that the seasons changing do have interesting mechanics, so it is an overall pretty original concept!

I think this game is designed around the theme very well and has good potential. But the controls leave it a little lacking. The bleep blorp man is too slippery for me to control as precisely as some of the jumps require. The art style is very cute too. Maybe make the brambles a little easier to pick out.
