Godot Version
Godot v4.2.2!

Wildcards Used
One of the cards in the game is called "Rest" which heals you to full HP.

Game Description
Un, a explorer frog, stumbles upon an ancient temple, but when he steps inside, he awakens a thousand year old curse that causes all of his actions to have unintended consequences!

How does your game tie into the theme?
The cards have Unintended Consequences on the back, but once you learn them, they become INTENDED consequences. You're playing as a frog explorer who's name is "Un" though, so they're "Un's Intended Consequences"!

The option to speed up the game helps. I find the tactical depth a little lacking. But there's one thing you've done really well and that's the game feel. And I also like the graphics (:

Nice game, the image of the frog with the burning hand was  just perfect.

Really great little game!

I finished it, which felt really nice. Balance felt really well tuned. I got a Slay the Spire: "I can do this but it could also go incredibly wrong" vibe.

The art is incredibly cute! The 6 pack on the frog was especially adorable.

  • A few bugs/feedback: Sometimes two cards would stack on top of each other.
  • Shuffle hand would be nice! I ended up with 5 heals on the 3rd battle.
  • Text of consequences in the right, after they've happened, often disappeared quicker than I could read it.
  • It wasn't clear if the reduction of max-hp would persist across battles or was just for that one.

Great work! (And frogs unite!)

Ah! Shuffle hand is a great idea! I’m working on a post-jam update so I’ll try implementing that somehow as well. Thanks for your feedback! (Frogs unite!)

This has a really nice polished feel to it, and the art style and sound track are fantastic! It fits the theme well, but some of the encounter feel a bit too punishing. I could see my self playing hours of this with a little more balancing. Also the game speed setting was a smart QoL addition. Great work!

Nice sountrack
The turn base combat is interesting

It was very well polished. I liked discovering what all of the unintended consequences were. There was a bug where if you use rest to lower your damage enough, then slash's consequence can heal you. Overall it was very fun

Very nice aesthetic and theming, the spritework is great. Including a gamespeed slider is a nice touch and feels very professional. Cool game!

Love your style, really fun game!

Really nice game! Fun graphics. Though sometimes I take more damage than the game says I take, also more than I believe I should be able to take based on most other turns (playing web). I did also experience the overlapping card bug.

Really fun and nice game with good art! A small nitpick but when i used my health potion i reached 92/92 hp and then it decreased my max hp by 8 so i got 92/84 hp which was just a lil weird. Really cool game and like that you introduced a speed option in the settings as well.

Wonderful Game!

I also really like the art style too! It sort of remind me of a Saturday Morning Cartoon aesthetic, and the idea itself is really creative!

Like talk about unexpected, I took a double take when I saw the tradeoff for the Health Potion!

Besides an option to speed up the combat a littlebit, I say great game!

I’m glad you enjoyed it, I had a lot of fun making it! Someone else suggested speeding up the game too, there’s a game speed option within the settings of the game so perhaps I should make more visible to the player so that they know it’s there. Thanks for your feedback!

A happy mix between card games and good old RPG combat.

I like how the GameJam theme is used in this game! Very well thought out!

The visual is effective!

I liked the game untill I stabbed myself with my slash. That hurt man, great job

Weird glitch.

I like the style of the game. The frog does look like he'd clumsily injure himself.

I thought the max health reduction would carry over to the next combat. I don't know if that would have been better.

The life beam just out right kills me for some reason.

I'm taking more damage than the text says I'm taking.

I don't know what's going on.

I played the web version.

I love the style of the game and the way you used the theme, good job!

A bit of feedback: The combat feels a bit sluggish, because the enemies take a while to kill and the animations are pretty long. If the combat went a little faster, I'm sure the combat would feel snappier!

Otherwise though, I really enjoyed it!

Thanks for playing! There’s a Game Speed option that speeds up gameplay a bit, not sure if you found that or not :) Either way, yeah I wanted to add some cooler animations on cards too but ran out of time.

Setting the game speed to 2x helps a lot! I overlooked that option in the settings

Nice game, congrats! I went until the third level, lost with only one enemy left with 4hp T_T

In the first levels it is understandable, but perhaps it would be better to control a little the randomness in later levels to prevent the player from having 5 identical cards, as this takes away some of the choice.

I also though at first the game would be a lot slower because of the -5 att consequence, but you got around it with the beam card. Nice thinking. :D
