ZZZ..., NOT DEAD YET

Game Description
Your Colleague John A. has recently defected from his role, leaving you the sole console moderator! It is your duty to press "The Button" every sixty seconds and stop inappropriate content from uploading to the web whilst you await his replacement. Dispatch of another John could take as long as four shifts, however, and so it's down to you to make the Kindness proud and keep yourself awake and alert by any means necessary! Get that coffee brewing and avail yourself of various old-world invigorators to keep your eyes on the Button.

How does your game tie into the theme?
The main objective of the game is to stay awake by any means necessary, but in doing so John B. becomes less and less capable of fulfilling his job or monitoring the uploads. He starts to suffer from annoying visual hallucinations.

This is such a cool idea! The multiple tasks to juggle along with the visual hallucinations created such a tense atmosphere. Really really cool game, way to go.

nice entry, the graphics are pretty cool. There were a few parts that could use some clearer instructions (e.g. multiple time limits) or that you shouldn't confirm the typed words with enter. Still pretty cool, even the upgrade system was nice

For sure, lots of people I watched play it struggled with the enter button. I'll have to figure out more about how text-edit works in Godot and I'm sure I'll be able to fix that!

So chaotic. The sound effects emphasized the chaos. The word game sometimes sent a lot of red words really fast, but it was nice that I could always escape out if it got too crazy. It really gets difficult when the words get their alternate spellings. I tried looking down the hallways a few times. I thought they might light up.  Nice polished game. Liked the song too.

I like the management aspects and the sleeping part is cretive too. Pretty fun game!

Awesome entry ! The art is good and the audio too. The gameplay is really fun with the three actions to repeat, even if I had trouble as I wasn't used to type words that complicated. (My first language is not English) But anyway I got used to it and the game loop works well even if I still lost two times. I think the not dead yet card is here but I don't have the time to read even a line before losing so maybe you should say what to do before s or in the tutorial. Anyway I had great fun and it's a really good entry with cool ideas, great job !

Incredible amount of effort! There's a ton of polish put into this game, and I really liked the management aspect of the gameplay! It was easy to get lost in the sauce of moderating comments before falling asleep at my desk, but in a good way! Great job!

I really liked this game! Had a very fun gameplay loop, and the progression of the words and such was very well balanced! My only complaint would be the coffee should restore more energy, as towards the end I didn't really bother putting it on too much as it wasn't that helpful, but I still really enjoyed this game! The art, the sounds, the story, all of it is great! And the typing minigame was super cool. Maybe in the future, if you update the game, you could make it so that certain words carry certain consequences with them if you don't delete them in time, for a bit of extra stress on the player lol.

Really good job :D

Really great atmosphere, graphics and lighting, and fun concept! I love that it's a typing teacher!

Did you do all the art, sfx, and music?

  • Coffee brewing sound were a bit grindy over time ... wish there was an upgrade for muting it!
  • The typing game was really fun. Sounds were satisfying. Visually really well done. Words becoming misspelled after not enough sleep was a clever take on difficulty!
  • It wasn't clear what the no-water icon meant. It felt like perhaps it wasn't cleaning?
  • It felt a little punishing to fall asleep right when the button needed pressing, but I guess that's the game, right? 😂 All the same, I wish there were a few chances to keep going before it being final, final game over as I wanted to keep moderating on a good run!

Great work!

I was all solo on the game but the music and sfx is largely from a royalty free sounds pack I purchased last year! Thanks for playing and offering this helpful feedback - I'm really happy to hear the typing game felt fun as I would love to expand on that a bit and wasn't sure it was a satisfying mini game!

Maybe it's nostalgia around typing games from my childhood, or The Typing of the Dead, but I found it incredibly satisfying and was genuinely sad when I had a good streak ruined by falling asleep as the button needed being pressed. 😌

I love what happens to the "negative" words as you continue to become more and more overworked! The corporate vibe is on point. Only thing I had trouble with was the death minigame, there wasn't any hint that would indicate which letter to use so I just keysmashed.

This is fun! I think managing time between the different task was well balanced; even more so if I was a better typist:) i think adding a boundary to the scene would be a good idea because my initial thought was to check out the blood stain by the door, and found that I could walk out into the whole map and get lost.. well done overall!

Haha oh no, the things I forget to do in a game jam :,) Thanks so much for playing!
