Great game! Quick concept testing, expanded into many well designed levels. The colliders may be a little too big like others have mentioned, and those darn bats might have accounted for 97% of my deaths because I'd forget to switch the character or would time it wrong, but other than that I think the difficulty is well balanced and the added challenge for the stars is really good.

I love the art and animation for the main character it looks unique and cute! I like the concept of switching characters to switch between skills. I think the water rising was a bit quick for me I struggled to platform fast enough, it might help to slow it down to allow for larger margin of error. I think making the enemy collider smaller and more forgiving might be nice too.

Overall a charming game that is fun to play, and interesting to figure out which character to use and when. Great work!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback will definitely keep that in mind!

I found the game to be a bit difficult. I don’t think i possess the skills necessary to play and was unable to finish one level.

Lol, the game was probably broken for you, The water moves a little too fast because I threw it into the wrong function. Sorry about that!

Super Fun! Definitely some work to do to make it web playable, but you are on the right track for sure!

Pros:

  • Artwork was perfect for this, Loved the rising water especially
  • I liked the ability to get to the options from within the pause menu as well as main menu.
  • The light/dark mechanic for the player was obvious. Speed/Height became readily apparent.

Critiques:

  • linear_to_db(value) I have found in my projects to help with the sudden drop-off for the volume slider
  • Adding prominent SFX to SFX slider as a preview

Fun game! I liked the two states/characters you could toggle between and it was intuitive how/when to toggle. Nice work.

Nice one! The controls are snappy and on point.
I also like the idea of switching between two totally different characters. Good job!
Some levels were challenging, but nothing to hard. :)

Cheers!

I found it a little bit too difficult, but I liked it :)

Developer(+1)

That’s fair, I tried to make up for the lack of maps.

Nice platformer, the controls were super snappy and felt great! There is a slight bug though, I think the water might be moving every frame instead of every physics frame. I had to cap my FPS at 60 otherwise the water would move SUPER fast, making most levels impossible. If you're updating the water position in the _process() function, moving it to _physics_process() should fix the issue! Other than that, I really liked the level design :D each level felt super unique! Cool game!

Developer

Thanks for this tip! Will definitely implement when I reupload in the jam.

Out of curiosity, how did you cap the FPS in the browser? I really want to give this game a solid playthough, but the water... Yeah.. The water.

I think changing your monitor's refresh rate in the system settings to 60Hz should do

I managed to complete all the levels so far, I did find some bugs when trying to select the levels e.g. 4 and 5 go to the same level and sometimes my stars got erased. The hit boxes were also slightly annoying but I still had fun playing it.

Developer

I appreciate the feedback! The stars do erase if you replay levels(kind of an intended feature). One thing I really wish I was able to do was a full replay of the game to check out some of the bugs and hit box struggles you mentioned.
