Very interesring idea! The typing becomes a hassle, though, without command history... Also, the font is a bit hard to read, especially when the game is so text-based. But it was a great submission, I enjoyed it

Great idea for a game! I love typing games and it was pretty stressful trying to manage heat for sure. I do agree with the others about getting some command history going and I found the text a little hard to read, but the fun is there! Great submission

Had a good time exploring the different options in this. Had good depth and was pretty interesting for some replays!

Really cool concept, makes me feel like I'm actually a pilot and know what i'm doing lol. But being so close to actual programming makes the lack of QoL noticeable, especially pressing up to cycle command history. Also would love to have simple UI elements to show current resources and status. :) Good job!

We definitely definitely found ourselves trying to do it out of habit lol. At some point we realized a lot of the target audience for a jam game is just used to terminals which was great for how intuitive it would be, but meant people would have higher standards. We ended up not having the time for it, unfortunately. I’m glad it felt immersive, at least. That was a huge goal of ours.

Really cool concept that kept me playing for quite a while! And being able to abbreviate commands is a much appreciated quality-of-life feature. Though, the text is a little difficult to read with how dark it is. But overall, nicely done!

I really like the idea of the shell type game but I would have also added an in-game UI (as a wildcard). While I would want to use the commands for drilling, navigating and crafting, I would have liked also a live feed of what's happening with heat, power, cargo. Maybe a section/screen with ASCII art above the console; the time-frame is kind of tight and it's good for keeping the pressure, but the print/echo commands get in the way a little too much. I love the atmosphere, and the type of scenario.

Great game, don't know how you made it in 10 day's.  It's really fun and I really like these type's of game's. Could use a tutorial or some kind of introduction to all the command's and thing's you can do.

Tysm! We figured that the commands can definitely be a little daunting for people not too familiar with command terminals, but the game isn't super long, if people want to play around with the commands and try out different things. I'm glad you're impressed! The aesthetic and tone definitely do a lot to carry an otherwise pretty simple game.

Well done! Really cool to explore all the commands, and there is a lot of possibilities!

If you would continue working on the game I would say that you can limit the command options at the beginning, for new players (and even players who are not familiar with this whole terminal stuff) to learn slowly about each command. It can be scary to see a huge list of commands at the start of the game and players can feel lost.

But that's just an improvement to the game design for a future version, your submission is really nice, congrats!

Me and the other dev were scrolling through the list of submissions and saw yours the other night, and thought 'oh wow these guys killed the terminal aesthetic way better than we did.'  I'm glad you enjoyed! We were a little worried about the complexity of the commands, but we figured for jam game, we could rely on a lot of our players being developers and pretty comfortable with the interface lol.

This is incredibly impressive, especially in the time span of the jam, and one of my favorite submissions so far. I love text-based games so I was pretty excited going into it; the terminal layout was a bit daunting at first but the commands are quick and easy to pick up, and I think the goals are intuitive.

The atmosphere and gameplay are both awesome. I will definitely be coming back to this until I beat it.

Thanks so much for playing, and I'm glad you liked it so much! Happy to hear that you found the game intuitive - we worried that the purely text-based system would be confusing to navigate.

An interesting game! I do belive though that if you freeze to death the game gets stuck?

Also I'm wondering do the time counts or just the amount of commands written?

Developer(+1)

Yea, the game doesn't have a way to restart other than reloading the page. So if you freeze to death you have to reload the page.

The game is based on time, not commands - heat and fuel both drain at a certain rate per second. So you can't just afk while mining.
