I know people seemed to like it in Meat Boy, but I hated that game because of how slippery it felt. This is even slipperier, I think? I stopped on the third screenshot level https://img.itch.zone/aW1hZ2UvMjY4NTE5MC8xNjAwNTg2OC5qcGc=/original/E8o323.jpg as I got tired of fighting how floaty and slippery the character was. I knew exactly what I had to do, just felt like the amount of tries to actually pull it off was too much and the controls are a little cramped on keyboard. Likely would’ve kept at it with controller support. Art’s fine, I liked the music, didn’t love the jump sound.

Overall pretty solid entry overall, good work! Just any type of difficult platformer is always going to be a matter of taste for people :)

GAMEPLAY
The platformer was fun but initially frustrating due to frequent early deaths. An automatic restart after dying might enhance the gameplay experience by reducing interruptions to press R. The design and mechanics were solid for the genre, but difficult, for me at least :-).

ART STYLE / VISUALS
The game's pixel art looked nice with enjoyable animations that added to the visual appeal.

AUDIO / SOUND DESIGN
The background music was enjoyable and fit well with the game’s theme and pace. Maybe some more variation would have been a nice bonus.

INNOVATION
The game was not particularly innovative, sticking to traditional platformer mechanics.

THEME
The theme was only lightly incorporated.

Overall a solid platform experience. Job well done 💪

I love the look of this game, shows how art can be both simple but effective, so you get extra points on that! Sfx were really juicy so that was also really nice. The difficulty is pretty high to begin with but I think once you get the hang of it it's pretty easy. Good job on this one!!

I really like how the game looks. The visuals and sfx are very good, but it's so hard! That's what I would expect from a rage game, so that's fine 😉

I almost gave up at the first level with the obstacles. Thankfully, the next levels were a little bit easier. In games where you die a lot, I like to have an automatic restart, so I don't have to click the button every 2 seconds.

edit: nevermind it's not that hard. I noticed I was trying to play the game without the sprint button. I tried again and it only took me 5 min to beat the game

Nice Game, Please try our game:)

Very nice visuals. The crt effect is very good.

I did manage to finish the game, but I did find the beginning to be a little too hard on the player.

I think it's very important to let the player get used to your game's physics and collision boxes before putting too many obstacles in front of them. Specially for the kind of platformer that you are going for. The first couple levels felt a little too hard in my opinion. Maybe, instead of having double saw blades first thing of the first level, you could, for example, start with single blades on the floor, so that the player can get used to the movement of the game.

The physics are not bad in my opinion. Maybe the player character could be a little less slippery on the ground, but I think it's fine as it is. I really think my only complaint would be the initial difficulty. Oh, and someone mentioned resetting level elements on player restart and I agree on that. I think resetting elements would let the player develop a muscle memory for the level.

Other than that, I actually enjoyed the game once I got the hang of it!

cool visuals, game was hard but not too frustrating for the most part though the character is a little too slippery. I think having the levels completely restart would be nice as there were times when I died as soon as I respawned from a saw that happened to be right where the character spawns in, and in the last level with the platforms with saws rotating around them I thought I could duck under saws going above me which I couldn't, and made the timing super tight to get past as a result.

the game was too frustrating... the first level itself has too many obsctacles

Love the visuals!

The game was fun and hard, but the problem is that the difficulty wasn't because of the level design, as the levels were just simple platforming levels, but rather the controls. I couldn't control this slippery character well and the hitboxes were big. And I even had problem passing through the first razor until I get the hang of the controls, something that shouldn't happen in a precise platforming game.

The visuals were nice and cute, But the game didn't fit the theme of this jam, because just adding a line of "You are isolated because of a pandemic" doesn't mean it's a game about isolation imo.

Oh and I think there is no reason to force the player to press "R" for restarting levels. It should reset automatically.

It has always been difficult for me to get into the theme, but I hope I won't disappoint the players next gamejam! Anyway, thanks for the feedback, I always listen to them.

"Windows Protected my PC"

Sucks, but I can tell that your game is good based an the comments and screen shots!

Nvm I got it to work. This game is awesome! If this gain enough traction you could maybe profit off of it!

As i big meatboy fan i love what you've set up here, music and graphics are great! I think if you ever wanted to take another stab at it, it can definitely benefit from tighter hitboxes on the "razor" obstacles, i think that's an important feature of this genre. I also think you could've gone harder with the covid isolation inspirations! Otherwise fantastic game!

It reminded me of the COVID.

Well you have a good take on the theme.

Preface
The rating is based on my personal preferences alone. Generally, I'm pretty open to new experiences, but I prefer games where lots of things happen. I tend to be a harsh critic.
I have finished the game.
Gameplay/Fun

The gameplay is fine, but it's slippery.
If it's a rage game , you shouldn't force the player to restart the game after they die - restart automatically.

Art Style/Visuals

There's nothing to complain about. The graphics are well-drawn and mesh well with each other.

Audio/Sound Design

I mean, it's good, but it's just one song.

Innovation

The Super Meat Boy inspiration here seems obvious.

Theme

The game only loosely fits the theme.

Verdict: Good game.

RATING IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE.

the art and vibe felt good, i didnt really FEEL the diffrence of the run and it felt a little floaty overall, a pretty good platformer and game, and im stoked to see somebody also made a rage platformer!
