For a first game project, this was definitely not as bad as you described it yourself! The custom-made art looked great, and together with the music and sound effects, it created a nice creepy atmosphere that fit well with the game and story. It was fun to play for me at least.
You also used multiple techniques, like the flashlight mechanic, light and darkness, and even weather effects, which added to the experience. So, a very solid effort for a first attempt. Next attempts will only get better and you hopefully learned a lot also during this project to make the next one even more fun. I understand you had a lot of ideas you wanted into the game, but time management is always difficult in a short game jam. Believe me, I know 😊!
The theme was incorporated, and the color palette… check.
So overall a nice entry! Keep up the great work in your future games! 😊
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!! I definitely learned a lot about time management, scope and planning, specially how important it is to make things good since the beginning because I made a lot mistakes that snowballed into some developing obstacles that kept me from implementing a lot of things. All the positivity in the comments here really make me want to keep making games and get better at it <3
I like this game, especially the atmosphere and the art. This is very, very good for a first game! Remember, every game makes the next one easier to finish, so please keep creating.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! <3 Comments like this make me want to keep working hard on making games!!
Damn! This was a raeally nice one. Yk, my game for this jam also didn't turn out as I want and it's getting good reviews. It's natural, we all expect something more, every time.
I think it has a nice immersion and feels great to play. I'm sorry if I can't give a review as good as the other people, but this is awesome! Keep it up
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! <3 Don't worry, even short review as these are great and warm my heart! I really appreciate it!
Nice atmosphere in this game, i also love the use of light and shadow.
if its your first game or not its something to be proud of, and you even had enough time to make a second game.
TYSM!Sadly there are a lot of things I missed, like more decor to help create points of reference both outside and inside, and I wanted the mechanic of changing to one sister to help solve the puzzles of the other to be more relevant than it is, but inexperience and time made it be like it. Still, thank you so much for playing it and your words <3
You mean to tell me this was your first game ever? Mine was like Rock, Paper, Scissors or something! Don't feel discouraged it didn't turn out how you wanted! Sure the opening cutscene came off rushed, I wouldn't censor the swearing, the dash could be faster, and having a controls section in the options would be useful, but at the end of the day?
You made a functional horror game with a not-so-common game loop or premise. The lighting had just the right balance of bloom and shadow to represent the duality of the theme. The particle effects seemed really natural. The sound department felt fairly polished, missing only stepping noises. With some touchups, there could be something here. Take it as a great learning experience and be proud of yourself.
Thank you so much!!! I was really insecure about this game because I couldn't make some details I wanted it to have to add more variety, like some puzzles that can only be solved by swapping characters and more decor on both scenarios to create points of reference. Still, this good reception motivates me to keep on my work, even if I had insecurities about it!! <3
I'd say this is one of the best in this jam for the visual aspect. The atmosphere went crazy! I would not expect this to be anyone's first game if you don't mention it.. It's so good.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I really appreciate your words and you taking the time to play it! I'm very critic with it because I missed some marks I wanted with it, like making the character change more relevant to some puzzles and progression, and this version have a bug and doesn't get you the finish screen once finished too... My inexperience made me make a ton of mistakes that turned the game into a nightmare to develop to the point where if I want to do mayor changes I need to remake it from scratch. Still, I didnt expect this game to have this good reception and it makes me very happy and motivates it to keep with my hard work. <3
This game was a lot of fun to play. The eerie atmosphere of both the dungeon area and the frigid cold outdoors worked very well. You did really well on the sound design. There was points in the game where I moved around slowly to try and avoid the monsters, and other times I was running as fast as I could while being chased. It took me a while but I believe I beat the game. It looks like there was no end screen but I escaped the dungeon and into the black void. Great game, I was very immersed.
Sorry, there was an end screen, but I seem to have forgot to make the trigger to it. I worked too many hours on it and when I submitted the game I had a total of 11h of sleep over the last 5 days. It was a very silly mistake on me to forget to link it properly. Still THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR KIND WORDS!!!! :DDD They made my day, I was very insecure about this game. Glad you liked it!!!
