A fun local co-op game that I could also play solo just fine. The concept of one player moving in a side view and the other in a top-down dimension was well executed, especially with the mechanic of helping each other as platforms.
Sometimes one of the characters did get stuck against a wall but after restart no problem anymore.
The levels were well-designed and got progressively more challenging with their solutions. The music was cheerful and enjoyable. The theme was incorporated, and the palette… check!
Would be nice to see some extra levels and updates.
Well done—good job! 😊
Thank you! I'm very glad you like the idea and level design.
a fun puzzle plat former that takes me back to the times of playing fire boy and water girl on YMCA computers. good work.
thanks! it does give the fire boy water girl vibe doesn't it
Fun little game! I like the mechanics and gameplay. Its a good take on the theme its similar to mine so would like to see what you think of it!
thank you!
Great take on the jam theme with simple controls and mechanics which are easy to quickly get the hang of. There seems to be a collision issue when the two characters are adjacent, the green character becomes unable to move, but this didn't affect gameplay as you just have to move the other character to fix it. The graphics style fits the game and makes great use of the palette. Great work!
Thank you! I'm glad you like the graphics
Very Very awesome idea and very well executed. Thumbs up smiley face :)
thank you so much
What a good game, like a good two player coop game, would be nice more levels and mechanics with this nice 2D platformer idea x3 really cool game
thank you! i'd like to make more levels for it sometime in the future too
very creative and interesting game I liked it it was interesting and the music was funny I would play it further if there were more levels
Thank you for liking our game!
I like the game and music, it took me a hot second to understand i could use the other char as a platform.
Only issue i had was sometimes the jump would not work, and even if you was only standing against the block (not on top of it) it would not move.
But interesting take on the theme and a nice platformer/puzzle
Thank you! We've noticed the jumping problems too but didn't get around to fix it during the jam..
Enjoyable arcade game I play en-till level I can not beat. The sound effect fit well with the game. Can not really tell two characters are playing top down and side way.
As it's hard to tell the difference in the character sprites?
This is the best entry I have played so far. 5 Starts.
The only thing I would change is tweak a little the jumping mechanic. That said, it works really well.
Thank you for liking our game!
I see this game takes two perspectives literally. I love the concept, very unique! I legitimately smiled a bit when I realized I could keep jumping off my ally to gain height. It really came in handy for one level. I also imagine that this is the kind of game where a co-op experience would result in fighting.
The music was a very short loop, but honestly it's already stuck in my head. Very catchy, I won't lie.
The levels need to be rearranged because the difficulty curve is extremely uneven. That's my biggest complain by far. Also, a two-controller setup would work well for this game, but it might remove the friction by having more conventional controls so I'm just spitballing here of course. Great work!
You’ve created a great and fun game. The twist, where one character is practically top-down and the other is side-scrolling, offers so much potential for many more puzzles and—most importantly—the possibility to play it cooperatively. I think you should continue working on this idea after the jam. I can easily imagine that a game like this would be very interesting for the Nintendo Switch, especially as something to keep kids entertained on car rides.
You’ve integrated the colors really well. I’ve played quite a few games from the jam by now, but in your case, I noticed the preset palette the least. The soundtrack was very fitting and complemented the game beautifully.
I’d like to give you some food for thought based on what I noticed while playing, in case you decide to keep developing it further.
I’d suggest rearranging the levels as follows:
Level 3 teaches me the movement.
Level 4 would make the perfect second level. It introduces mechanics like briefly turning off the beam.
Level 2 teaches how the two buttons work together.
Level 1 is similar to Level 2 but felt a little more difficult.
Level 5 could serve as the first real puzzle level.
This order might give the game a more understandable flow, especially for younger or less experienced players who aren’t familiar with 2D platformers.
Personally, I feel that the sliding of the character when the speed drops to zero adds unnecessary complexity. I understand the design choice, but from a gameplay perspective, it can be frustrating when control is taken away, especially when precise jumps are needed. I’d recommend adding a friction parameter instead. That way, you could easily introduce ice levels as well.
The reduced fall speed is a great choice for new players, as it gives more time to aim. Similarly, the cube hints are a nice touch. If you’re considering different difficulty levels, increasing the fall speed might be a good adjustment for advanced players. I’d also suggest making the hints optional.
The only "bug" I noticed was that the controls deactivate when both characters collide. I imagine you experimented a lot with the kinematics and might have taken the path of least resistance when things didn’t work as intended.
All in all, it’s a fantastic game—hats off to you!
Thank you for liking our game! I'm glad you think the colour and soundtrack work well with the game.
I'll consider your feedbacks if we are going to further develop this game. Some of the level and character controller definitely needs some fine tweaking. Like that bug you said. It's actually an anti-cheat feature so the side on character can't ride the top down character like an elevator. Maybe there'd be a better solution if we got more time.
I liked it a lot. I played it on my own but will play it with brother again later today. The controls are easy to understand and the gameplay enjoyable. Only thing, the wholes on the ground confused me for walls sometimes, maybe making them blue?? To better represent that are an obstacle for the blue character. And for a moment I thought it was a bug when turning off both sides of the laser would turn it permanently. Besides that only 2 things, I really enjoyed it! I kinda wanted more levels XD. And the character design is great too!
Those holes are supposed to be lava on the floor if you are talking about those red tiles top down character can't pass. They were animated water-ish tiles which would have made it a lot more different but Unity decided that nah, animated tiles doesn't work in builds :( But yeah I probably could have made something else for that tile. There might be more levels coming if we feel like working more on it because we only made half of what we brainstormed haha. Thanks for liking our game!
I love this game, the easy to understand controls mixed with a nice artstyle that uses the color pallete brilliantly makes playing this game a lot of fun! I also really appreciate the pacing of the game because youre first introduced to the concept of some of the mechanics of the game and in levels after that those mechanics are used in a more intricate way. This makes the levels easy to understand and makes it a joy to play through. All in all awesome game that sticks really nicely to the theme!
I'm really happy to hear you like the level designs :D I probably could have made some harder levels near the end but a jam is not quite the time to brew on that haha. And I personally think it's better to let the player know how the mechanic works before putting it into a proper puzzle than letting the player guess. Maybe I played too much portal..
Awesome game, loved the two perspectives. And the characters are cute too. My top down guy did get stuck in the 1 tile hallway, but restarting fixed it.
Thank you for liking our game! it's weird that you encountered that bug.. Sorry about that!
I liked the literal interpretation of another point of view. I played single player, and things started off ordinarily, as one does. However the use of the dice blocks as a clue indicator was something I found genius. I know that might have been one of the more minor details, but I was locked in from that point onwards. It would be cool to see more elements like dice indicator, such as a traffic light puzzle where someone has to control traffic while the other one passes.
Thank you! It took waay too long to figure out something to indicate the which trigger opens which door haha.
