Your level of detail was very good--the ramen made me hungry--and I adored your sprites and the artwork! You did a great job!
Thank you very much for playing! I'm happy to read that you liked the art, it was really fun making those, thank you ^u^
Amazing work! The level of detail you put in is incredible, I also like the art style you used for both the characters and the different stages. As a short game that combines two minigames the longevity of the game is right. From what I understand this is the prologue for one of the character for a future project, I would like to know more about Mithos!
Thank you very much for playing! Im glad you had fun with it!
Yeah this is a quick prologue for the main game which is in the works at the moment, thank you for the interest! ^u^
The polish on this game is absolutely fantastic. This is a complete package, even if it is a smaller introduction to a larger universe / game. I did find it to be a bit repetitive, since there's no variation to the minigame or the ingredients in the noodles (which seemed like they were just there... because?? Other than to shoehorn the theme in, I didn't really see their purpose, oddly enough, considering the title of the game), but if there were some differences, even if only visual, that would be simple enough to negate.
Like, I said, it's a very complete, and well-made game -- and the art is absolutely beautiful all the way through, but it just left me wanting more.
I liked the game, but out of all the games I've played, this was certainly one of them. It felt like it was supposed to be a tie-in to something larger, something that I didn't know about and wasn't aware of and haven't heard of.
The ramen thing didn't really seem to add up to anything at the end, and while customizing it was cute and provided some cute art, there was no real variance in ingredients and so the third time and after it got to be a question of "well, why?". When he was rising up again at the very end due to [spoiler], I almost half expected there to be a cheesy punchline of "I found what it is I'm fighting for...and it's RAMEN!". Or something.
Music and art was nice at least, and the character writing was cute. I'm a big sucker for tokusatsu and it seemed like this took a pretty Ultraman-alike road. I dig it.
Mithos: Cup Noodles
by dragoonwys
Hey there dragoonwys, thanks for submitting a project to the 2022 IGMC. I'm Drifty and I was asked to judge your game in round one of the IGMC 2022 game jam. Here's some feedback about your project.
I like the title screen art, chill music and selection of sound effects.
The attention to detail in this game is fantastic. Cute little action figures and poster art.
The battle minigame was pretty simple and easy to follow.
I found that customizing my own cup of noodles was very satisfying. :)
The artworks is fantastic, but it feels a little word heavy at times.
The gameplay is a little weak as it's essentially a glorified visual novel with elements of an escape room and quick time events.
The text in the show movie at the end was too fast to read, but I enjoyed the artwork display.
You've made a neat little visual novel and I hope you keep making games. I know I said it before, but I love your art style.
I look forward to the games you make in the future, keep up the good work.

I loved this game so much! The visuals were amazing, I can't believe you crammed so much amazing artwork into such a short amount of time. <3
My only feedback is that I'd have loved to stare at the food art for maybe a liiiiittle bit longer after you make your noodles. It's so beautiful!
I liked the art style and the idea of this game, or the idea of the main game, at least. I'll probably give it a try when it's ready :D
Well, about this prequel/prologue, I loved the artworks and the character design in general. I wish I could see some character portraits in the message boxer, instead of blackscreen + text. It's a pity! The gameplay is kinda ok, but maybe it can become monotonous pretty quickly. Perhaps you should add some more depth to it? I guess you'll do it for the real game! However I'm invested in the characters, and I'm really curious about the main game! Good luck!
Thank you very much for playing! Im glad you liked the characters. ^u^
Yeah, the main game doesn't involve the mechanics from this game, but I am heavily leaning towards the idea of re-integrating it as a mini game. Which was what this was designed to be in the first place, played in short bursts instead of the main title, so might as well! Thank you very much for the feedback!
I love the sprites and battlers. The art is so good in this game. I'm happy the game wasn't too punishing on losing a QTE. (I kept going too fast and accidentally double clicking a lot at the start.)
The friendship between Ryoji and Touma was the highlight for me. So it goes without saying that the ending absolutely wrecked me. Consider me peaked and interested for the next Mithos game!
Thanks a bunch for playing my game Slimm! I'm glad you liked Ryoji and Touma's friendship and that they piqued your interest, they are the backbone for the story!
Ah I see, I'll have to look into tweaking the controls a little more once the jam is over. One other person mentioned it was a bit too sensitive. Again, thanks for playing and the feedback!
Lovely artstyle, and a fun game!
Thank you very much for playing! Im glad you liked it~
Hey! I played this game 15mins ago and I'm still smiling. It was just too funny and entertaining.
Great story and artstyle is aesthetic! It's a very simple but charming story and attention to the details. Thanks for the experience. :)
Heyo! Thank you very much for playing my game. It might be simple but I'm glad you liked it ^u^
I streamed the game and had a lotta fun! Some feedback and link below (and please forgive me joking about them being boyfriends, I’m just being silly XD)
Overall I had a good time! There was plenty of care in small cute touches everywhere, and it gelled well with me. Would I check a full game in a DDR style like this? Uhhh probably not? But as a short thing it does well. The art was especially very charming at every turn. Congrats on a job well done.
Eyyyy! Thank you very much for playing my game and streaming it ;u; <3
LOL yes I am aware the cup noodles are a hanging nowhere point in this game, it is a plot thing that was brought over from the main game in the works. So I'd take that legit criticism! XD
You are right about this game being made as a small cute thing on the stream. The main game doesn't feature this game's mechanic and it'd be ported in as an arcade mini game if I do. It was the intention to make this a bite sized short and cheesy game, so I designed it based on that goal in mind. Nothing big or grand was planned, I'm glad to read that it gave off the intended feeling! Still, I'm going to go back to add scene pictures to the black text scenes once the voting period is done.
Thanks for the review and feedback, it was a blast seeing you plow through the game! I'm glad you had fun with it.
(I watched the video, I can't stop laughing, I mean, sure, why not BL. I'm not opposed to shipping them in my own brain either AHAHAHA!A semi spoiler is that there is no kill count but there is some coma melodrama in the main game)Now I can see why this game gets a decent amount of buzz. In terms of presentation, the overall designs flow pretty well from one scene to then next. Its not too long too and the overall system and storytelling is more akin to a saturday morning cartoon/kids anime type of dealie. With darker elements here and there. The cup noodle making is cute but I'll be honest, I don't see it being related gameplay wise other than a tangential story attachment to it. It doesn't serve an actual narrative importance. A bit of a nitpick mind you, but something I noticed.
Granted, there's a lot of reading in black and less interaction sprites, which I think you put out most of your efforts on the battle stages instead since that's where the meat of the visual spectacle is. WHICH IS AN INPUT MEMORY GAME JUST LIKE M-
*ahem* I mean, its an input memory game that uses left right down and up as keys, and its a lot more randomized, which I am pretty impressed by. I am curious as to how you designed the memory system that way, since I've been trying to do so but its more fixed on my end.
Visually, this is eyecatching and I gotta say, no wonder it got popular. The kaiju style, the character sprites and build, the overall presentation. I quite enjoyed this entry. Great job.
Ryoji and Touma are like best bros, me likey them. That is all.
Thank you very much for playing! ^u^ Im glad it feels like a saturday morning cartoon vibe to you, it was certainly the intention!
Yeah, the cup noodle is a plot point brought over from the main game, so I understand if it feels hanging over here. Thank you for the feedback!
And as for the memory input game, I don't mind sharing how I did it! It involves scripting, I start by logging an array into a variable consisting of as many unique numbers as I have input directions. Then afterwards, its just a matter of logging a random number from that array into a new variable whenever the round refreshes, repeat for each arrow on the chain. So, that's about it for the mechanics and the rest is just some leg work to add the visual flair.
Again thank you very much for the feedback and playing!
I see. So you apply random arrays to your variables for the inputs. In my case I set everything up by manually setting up the right 40+ switches on ny catalogue so its tedious to randomize the sequences properly. Had I be more aware of array scripting, maybe I could have more variance in my own sequence memory game project. Either way, I appreciate you creating this entry. Definitely a strong contender for one of my favourites. Much obliged to be playing your game.
Yummiest game in this contest, I'm sure of it! Combat was fun as well.
Cup Ramen is very attractive when hungry! Thank you very much for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Very charming game, had a lot of great art and attention to detail and I loved the balcony effect. Touma and Ryoji were great, really loved their chemistry!
Thank you very much for playing! I'm glad you loved their chemistry, they are the backbone of this story ^u^
I enjoyed this, it was really cute. I realize that time constraints are probably the reason, but there was a lot of black screen text to read through, good text that it was, and the battles were really simple. Still an enjoyable experience over all though.
Yeah, it was a time constraint issue on my end. I'm planning to fill up the game a little more like these black screen parts, after the jam is done!
Thank you very much for the feedback and playing my game! I'm glad you liked it ^u^
--- Cup Noodles Playthrough
This was such a cute game. The visuals are all phenomenal. We don't get to see too much of the characters, but I was invested in Ryoji and Touma's bromance, haha.
The minigame is fun and unintrusive. I didn't fail any prompts, so I can't be sure how it feels from that end, but the various situations it was used for were cute and silly.
Great job on the game! I would say more, but I don't want to spoil anything for others!
Yo! Thank you very much for playing, I'm really glad you liked it! \;u;/
Ahaha I'm happy to read that the bromance was enough to get invested with, I tried my best to show it in this short amount I could fit in!
(Spoiler: There is no death count, but there is a melodrama coma in the main game LOL)Again thank you so much for giving my game a go!
Such a great entry! Felt like I was watching an episode from an anime haha
The mini game battles were great! I did find the control a little sensitive when inputting the arrow keys but was fun to play!
Eyyy, thanks a bunch for playing! HAHA yes making it like an anime was the goal, I'm glad you felt that way! ^u^
Ah I see, I'll have to look into adding some sensitivity settings in the future, the current input sensitivity was decided from my pool of testers. Thank you for the feedback!
I loved the anime style art and the surprise alerts with the city. (Trying not to spoil anything) lol
Also it made me crave some ramen XD
Haha I'm glad you liked the surprise alerts! It adds more fuel to the anime theme going on >8D
And yes let the ramen tempt you! The unsponsored promotion of the food brand is working!
