This had a lot of charm to it! A great intro, a funny theme, and powerful system allowing so many creatures to persist at once without a drop in the framerates. Unless there are 26/25, I found all creations except Wolf, which I'd be disappointed in since I seem them in the screenshots and they are listed under the Polar Bear's diet. But, it still has very nice visuals and would love to see some upgrades to the desk! Phenomenal work!
That's 100% a bug, then. I think wolves are either snow + life or life + snow.
I'm really glad that you noticed the optimisation. It took 3 days of nothing but having a good time and loving my job to setup :P
Speaking of upgrading the desk, I'm currently focused on finishing the full game, with the dark storyline and everything. Here's a little peek at the more advanced desk!
The camera under the desk is actually only supposed to pop up when you start becoming 'more suspicious that any other employee in the
involunteering programme.
Ooooo! Definitely lookin' like big plans are going to hit this game unexpectedly! Can't wait! (X3)
I had a lot of fun playing your game. I liked how you used your voice that is not seen very often in jams :)
Tahnks a million SixthMoon! I know that I must sound like a broken record, but it really does mean a lot that you took the time to play my little game.
Lots of love!
Such a fun and chill idea! I love how you start with nothing and the entire game is based around finding things then just seeing what'll happen. Relaxing music, a funny intro, and complexity built from simplicity; love it!
It makes my little nerd heart so happy that you enjoyed my game, Foggzie. Thank you for your kind words!
That's the most chill game on this jam so far. And the gameplay has so much depth in it, holy... Impressive for only 10 days
Thanks Mighty :)
I'm really glad you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed your game!
(dawee speaking here but we use Estelle account for all the reviews).
As I told you in Discord that's really the kind of experience I was looking for in this Jam. The crafting is really original and I would like to see this thing going farther. God-like games are audacious but in this short time you made this work enough to bring a good time. Some of the recipies I did were a bit random but that's ok because when I made a snake for instance it totally made sense to me in term of crafting and it works for several other recipes. Great job!
Hey Dawee!
Thank you very much for your kind review! As it currently stands, I'm currently rebuilding the entire game from the ground up, so keep an eye out for updates :) Crafting will be altered and repaired in future updates, for sure.
This is really nice. I love the humor :) Would love to see you build on this.
Will definetely be continuing this project :) Thanks for playing my little game! It means the world to me that people actually enjoy it!
Wow, this game has left me in aw. I love this, like at first it seemed complicated when looking at the tutorial. But the humor really pushed me along. I would love to see a full release with saving and sharing as well as just some more blocks and a small touch up on the graphics. I would definitely pay money for that!
Personally I found my self losing track of time, while making a planet completely taken over be the insects haha.
Thank you so very much! I will definetely be expanding on the game with a lot of the stuff you requested, and even more!
The original idea was to have the player looking down at a desk with a terrarium on it. Then you can decide whether or not to build inside of it, it perhaps even drop things in from your desk (I.E. A glass of water would cause a 'great flood').
Love it!
Great game on all fronts! Graphics could use a pinch more polish, but I like the style and charm. The music was non-intrusive and perfect for just letting you go all out in making your own planet. I lost track of time playing this game.
Thanks so much for your kind comment! I am in complete agreement about the graphics. In future builds of the game, I would aim to keep the style roughly the same, but add some kind of 'blending' between different kind of blocks, to help smooth out the transition between 'em.
This game made me laugh a lot, I had a lot of fun, from the intro to the gameplay. One thing I had a problem with was that the order of combinations when building things mattered: I think it wasn't necessary given the simplicity of the game. That said, it also showcased a really good part of the game which was you provided a pretty comprehensive guidebook that cleared up these misclarities (and the guidebook was also entertainingto read)!
I'm glad you enjoyed the humorous side to the game. The 'shaped' crafting recipes wasn't actually meant to be a thing, but I could add enough elements in time to allow people to craft everything from life and 'entity'.
In future, I really hope to continue development on the game and work out some of these kinks, while balancing a fine line between humor, creativity, and mystery.
Cool! I think pursuing it will be fun, it's got a lot of potential. Would love to have more Phil the Angel commentary as you play-could provide both guidance and humor.
Woooow, the mind-blow when I was only playing at a Alchemy-like game and I understood I can grab everything I craft to the world !
It is very interesting. To polish this, I think we may need to be guided a little more to be able to know if we are doing things in the good/wrong way. In an other hand, the sandbox is also very interesting but once you understand mechanics greatly.
Great submission :)
Thanks Steel! I didn't have time to fully realize the tutorial I had in mind, and will definitely be adding a more 'gameplay-focused' learning method in the future. Instead of explaining everything in a book, I'd like to have Phil give you the basic rundown of everything.
Your feedback is greatly appreciated!
Oops, I found a bug.
I had to use the information menu to polish out all these pesky bugs... with lightning! Mwahahaha.
I've uploaded a small hotfix (with permission from the GameJam organizers) that fixed a tiny bug that caused the game to instantly crash on older systems.
Interesting world crafting game. Curious morse message concerning what is going up "upstairs". ;-)
Way-hey! I'm glad someone managed to decode it :P Thanks for taking your time to review my game!
most innovative use of the crafting mechanic I've seen, combine things to create life! Loved the chill and relaxing ambience!
Thanks a million for the wonderful comment, Boon! It's an honor to have such a favorable review coming from someone with a project as polished as yours.
Fun game. The intro is hilarious!
Really relaxing and funny game, well done ! Sadly I got stuck at 9 elements, I haven't managed to craft new ones since
Thanks for your great reply :) Try combining things with the 'life' element, or vice-versa. Recipes are not 'shapeless', meaning that life + dirt may equal one creature, while dirt + life may equal another.
Thanks again for playing my little game :)!
