The impalers are great enemies,  I love the idea of playing them up as an unknown entity just on the edge of your torchlight. I'm also a big fan of the separated ghost lovers. I think players are often more motivated by little romances and dramas than all the treasure in the world. Mine would eat this up.  Fun stuff!

Thank you very much, I appreciate it!!

"They spend their time digesting detritus, philosophizing" made me smile. Nice adventure! good artwork.
My own entry also has some fungal folk as a faction! :-)

Developer

Thank you very much!! I'm a sucker for those lil guys :) will give your adventure a read shortly!

I like how the possible interactions with the Fungal Folk and the Fungal Fun table can really change the nature of the adventure. The whole thing seems like it's only half of the dungeoncrawl though. Any plans to expand the scenario to include the crawler caves, and the mentioned medusa?

Thanks a lot for the feedback!

You're not wrong, I was worried it would feel incomplete... but I loved the Crawler and Medusa idea too much to exclude. One of my favorite things is using cave systems as a sort of mega-dungeon that I can perpetually add to, but I realized (too late) that it's probably not the best fit for a jam.. though a cave megadungeon jam would be really fun.

All that to say, YES, I do plan to release the Crawler Caves in the future! As well as expanding upon The Nest with more tables, NPCs, and more encounters, and more more.

Hope to see expanded version sometime then.

Straight up terrifying!!!!  I love the maps and clean linework. I'm always jealous of people who manage to space out their layout and make gradients not feel digital !

Developer

Thank you very much!! Terrifying was the goal :)

The layout was a huge struggle for me, still have a lot to learn, glad to hear it looks good, though!

Love the descriptions for the creatures, very evocative

Thank you, much appreciated!

That is one beautiful map that I'd enjoy plopping in front of my players. Well done on a great adventure!

Thank you very much!! If you ever do, feel free to hit me with some feedback.

The cover art perfectly captures the feeling of dread players should experience when they enter The Brood Mother's Chamber.

I like how you presented a straightforward description for each area before giving more details.

The 3-column Fungal Fun table is great and so is the art for the Fungal Folk!

Developer

Yeah, my buddy Fred nailed the cover, I'm so happy with it!

Thank you very much for the feedback!

I strongly support the Fungal Fun table.

Love the idea of naming the monsters by the players...this can take on a life of it's own, and seeds future adventures if this is or becomes a part of a campaign.

Layout feels very DnD-esq which could help bridge with that being so popular.  random tables is nice and love the size/location of the map.  Nice work!

Thanks a lot for the feedback!!

I swear by not naming creatures in general, but in this case, with creatures that thrive in the dark (and inspired in part by Aliens), it felt important to mention.

And yeah, most of my TTRPG experience (and my only adventure layout experience) is for D&D, for better or for worse. Time-permitting I would have loved to switch it up! Plan to for next time.

It's a great little adventure and map—perfect for a one-shot. I love the cover art; it really sets the mood. My only mild critique is that the font used on the cover is a little hard to read.

Developer

Thank you very much!! Massive props to my artist friend, Fred, who did all the illustrations. And yeah, I had the same concern about the font, it'll be different for the final version.
