I thought it was hilarious that you added those sound effects every single time the two characters died. This was well polished game, and it was super fun to play. Great job!

Super solid mechanics. Way fun to play with a friend. It's a fun party game. Don't really have any specific feedback, it's well made already. One thing I might change is the scream sound effect when a character dies is a little loud compared to the rest the audio imho. Nice game!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your feedback, I just checked out your game too. I've taken your feedback and I agree. In the update I'm releasing hopefully tomorrow night, I have reduced the scream volume a tiny bit to try to not let it overpower the other sounds

It looks great. The management is pleasant. But it's better to play together.

Thanks for playing

I've played it with my son  and we loved it! Super fun, amazing pixel art, love the explosions.   Great job!! In my top 3 at the moment!

Developer

Glad you guys liked it thanks for playing, that's so good to hear!

Thanks everyone for playing. After seeing others interact with the game and listening to feedback, I decided to make numerous tweaks to the overall difficulty. I also wanted to work on some things that I didn't have time to do during the 1 week period of the game jam. Every level has been tested some more with an attempt to make them a little bit easier.

Below are the level changes: (this list could/will probably expand)

  • Level 7: Increased starting time from 12 sec to 15 sec
  • Level 9: Increased starting time from 12 sec to 15 sec
  • Level 13: Everyone's least favourite level
    • Added 2 more saws
    • Decreased move speed of saws
    • Increased the 2nd saws path to allow more time to get past it
    • Added a spring
    • Changed colour scheme
    • Added moving platform
    • Added squashing trap
    • Reduced starting time from 60 sec to 35 sec
  • Level 24: There was a little misplaced tile in the terrain tile map. It has been fixed

Alongside updating levels, there have been many other changes made:

  • Added on screen joysticks so the game can be played on a mobile device. There is no coyote time for on screen joysticks
  • Fixed hit boxes for saws and other traps (now much easier)
  • Changed all text to use TMP for a better look
  • Changed all text font so it all matches the pixelated look
  • The game timer turns red in colour if time remaining < 5 sec. The less time you have, the more red it is.
  • Added a new "time addition display system" which displays the added time when you collect fruit (green text).
  • Time gained from collecting fruit is now a randomised integer between 1 sec and 3 sec (inclusive)
  • Added a confetti burst system for when the level is completed
  • Added a confetti rain system on the end game screen
  • Added a settings screen accessible from the main menu
  • Added a pause screen when user presses esc, return or clicks the settings button (top left)
  • Added music/sound volume control sliders available in the setting and pause screens
  • Press spacebar to restart the level
  • Increased exit hit box
  • Increased jump force by 0.5 to make jumps easier on handheld devices
  • Spikes no longer kill you if you land on them after finishing the level
  • Fixed a camera glitch  when getting game over. The zoomed in camera is focused on the player head during death. When the head fades out and is destroyed, the camera loses its focus causing it to jerk. I have fixed this by not fading the body parts out during game over
  • Added a connector between the pressure plates and the pressure plate light (just for looks)
  • Added fade transition between menu screens
  • Added URP lighting
  • Blood system:
    • Added more blood particles, randomised shades of red, random size variation so they look different each time

Due to the game jam being in play I can't update yet but after the jam I will upload the newest build with all these changes.

Absolutely brutal! <3 Half the time i just wanted to leap onto razor blades for the awesome effects! Well done. I'll be playing this with my daughter later today

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing, I've learned a lot from your Unity tutorials this year as I'm fairly new. I based the death effects off of the destructable tutorial that you made. I also made Enemy AI with help from your raycast tutorial for agro and patrols.

Cute looking and sounding, also very fun even tho I could only play it alone for now. Great work!

Cool effects, kind of difficult with only one person haha!!

Developer

Thanks for playing. It's difficult alone, but still possible. New update coming soon will make it easier

We played your game on stream! (Me and Crafty) Really cool! Here's the link:

Really challenging game to  play alone, nice art.

Developer

Thanks for playing. I used art from the pixel adventure pack

Fun game! The first death really threw me, haha! I was trying to play by myself which was quite a challenge, but I can see how this would be really fun to play with someone else, trying to beat the clock before your horrific demise. I like the connection to the theme. Good stuff!

Developer

Thanks for playing, I'm trying to make it easier to play with a friend. Adding screen controls for hand held devices. An update will be released after the jam

I liked the game's idea and the sound effects were prefect lol

Great Job

I played it alone and also dragged a classmate to play it with me. The first few levels are really fun, but they end up ramping in difficulty very earlier on. The screaming is extremely loud, it made me flinch every time I died, and when my classmate played with me, they kept flinching too. Both alone and with a friend we both couldn't get past level 13...

But I love the game! It's super fun playing with two people like this! I actually really loved the deaths too; they made me flinch, but I was also having fun with the deaths. Also, kudos on the platforming. It was a bit challenging at times, but the controls were super smooth!

It was a really fun game, I liked it a lot!

Developer

Thanks for playing. I have made a lot of changes to every level, making them a bit easier. I have also added a music/sound volume toggle and taken some advice from all the feedback. Level 13 has been changed a lot and can be beaten easier now. I will release a big update as soon as the jam ends with all these changes and more

I like the unique way of connection! It's a shame that I can not test it properly because I'm alone! If you like this kind of multiplayer, check my "coin battle" game. It was the result of an Unity workshop but also 2 players with 1 keyboard! Congrats on the concept!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing, it's much better with a friend but has been designed in a way that it can be played solo. I've learned solo games might be better for game jams. Just played coin battle, an interesting idea would be a fun game to play with friends but like you I'm also alone haha

Good game. Nice death animations.... I seen them a lot. I got both beacons a lot and then went.... wait.... where's the flag? Enjoyed it. Well done.

Thanks for playing. I'm glad you liked it

Amazing well made game friend!

The players felt so nice to control and the platforming at times was genuinely quite difficult, took me and my partner something like 25 minutes to complete.

My partner would like me to let you know that you are evil for creating level 13 and 19.

All in all a fun game! Great job :D

Developer

Thanks for trying it out, your game In Deep Sheet was awesome. Congrats for completing it, not everyone is able to. Haha, I have already started working on some updates to try and make level 13 in particular, less frustrating. Those saws needed some tweaking plus other things. Thanks for the feedback!

This game has the best death sequence in a video game ever.

Developer

Thanks for playing, your game was very interesting :)

Submitted(+1)

very good game, it looks very fun if played with a friend, it's really funny the sound and how "gory" the game looks when you lose.

I suggest you after the jam to add an online feature to play with someone else, it might go viral.

Developer

Thanks for playing and for your feedback. That would be cool, could be something for me to look into in the future.
