Really cool concept and great visuals and audio! Great work!

I really like this. It feels like a solid sequence within a visual novel. I struggled a little bit figuring out what was clickable, and tbh i'm still not sure what got the clock to work, but it was an engaging experience. Great work!

Nice out of the box thinking on the theme here. Well done.

thank you for your kind review, we appreciate it. To answer the art question; the perspective and cafe layout was done in 3D, then I painted over the top with 2D (in greyscale), aside a couple edited textures. Much of the 2D colour was managed through gradient maps. This was the quickest method for changing it on the fly and banging out multiple ideas. Thanks again!

This is an incredibly unique concept! The voice acting (or voice-singing? xD) was amazing. I have to say that the artstyle made me click the game really fast.

Did you use FMOD or something to deal with the audio? It was cool that you could start the singing at the correct bar regardless of when the player pressed an object to sing about.

Thanks so much for the kind words! Greg (programmer) implemented all the audio just with unity, using a timeline running underneath all the gameplay, for which I (music) gave him cue times for different lyrics. He’s working on a dev log for it which will be up on his YT at some point.

Awesome stuff! Are you able to link his channel, I'd love to see how he did it.

Developer(+2)

Hiya! The dev log is finished and will be up on my channel tomorrow morning, here's the channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/eGregiousGames/

I don't specifically address that implementation in the video though, so I'll explain here. Very simply, I have a timer (float variable) for the song. In FixedUpdate, I have a function that adds Time.FixedDeltaTime to the timer each fixedupdate.

There are fixed variables that contain the starting time for each stanza. In the Song Manager method, I have checks for if the song timer has passed the starting time for the next stanza. If true, we jump to the "DetermineStanza" method which uses the queued object to grab the required clip from a library, using the object's name as a parameter.

Thanks for your kind words about the game. It's been my first game jam and I'm loving the positive community :)

Thanks for explanation!

the concept makes it pretty interesting to see what you can sing about. I would have liked to see a progress bar of when I'll be able to pick the next part. The art looks great, the shading and white outline really make the foreground characters pop.

Very unique and charming game. The fact alone that it is almost entirely audio themed is rather fascinating (and the music, the sound and voice acting is really quite good).

As for actual game play though it is rather unengaging and more reminiscent of a quick-time event. An enjoyable one though if you just sit back, put on your headphones and chill.

Very nice game to play. I thoroughly enjoyed the panic and can totally relate to "I never finish what I start...."

Thank you for sharing.

My favourite part of the song =D . Thanks for playing

Submitted(+3)

I can honestly say I've never played anything like that before. Cool game!

Very beautiful game with fun, innovative mechanics!

I enjoyed this one! the music was great and I like the art , well designed ,  the player takes on the experience of the character, keeping up with ideas to connect the songs,  congratulations! keep it up!

Very interesting take on jam. Had a sense of comedy and really cool music. Had a nice art to compliment it as well.  Maybe more feedback to the player's inputs would be good though.

Very cool experience! Great job composing music and blending it into gameplay and narrative!

This one made me laugh sooo hard hahaha What a cool game!!! Many small games struggle to integrate story elements since its really hard to do that in such a small timeframe but you really did it. This game has tons of personality and I love it for that! The only thing I did not like was the classic point and click problem of having to click everywhere; you could have made those element stand out a bit more maybe but still I had tons of fun!

Developer

Tysm!! Definitely had a lot of laughs putting the audio together for it. Glad you enjoyed =D

Really cool idea! You were able to capture the anxiety of that situation really well ( I don't know if that's a good or bad thing lol). Great submission!

Loved the idea for this one, quite innovative in terms of dynamic audio! I loved the music, and the art immediately drew me in. I also didn't know what to click on towards the end and I felt a bit panicked but I felt that it matched my mood to the character in the game very well. Awesome submission!

What a cool idea! You executed it really well too, I love that the song flows together so well and you really captured the open mic vibe really well through the audio, love those little mic feedback bits when things get awkward, and the mix was really nice, really nice stuff. I guess as a GamerTM I would've liked a bit of challenge, like, less time to figure out what to click on. That said, it was pretty nice to just listen and not have stress and tbh the last item I was quite confused and was clicking frantically, so I guess I was actually challenged.

Really cool, probably one of the most standout games for me in any game jam I've ever seen. Great work :)

I didn't know what to expect when I saw this but it was actually great . The art and music were really nice and it was a great idea. as someone mentioned the things going white would be nice just for qol after teh jam but otherwise great idea well done guys

Very nice! Had the same idea for our submission (Europixel Song Contest), but turned out to be vastly different in execution. :) I really like the art. Moody.
