This was definitely a unique one! It reminded me a bit of the game Parasite on Nitrome! I think if the different monsters that you can control also served as a way to solve various puzzles, this game could be amazing!

Really cool and interesting game! Maybe the only problematic thing was the difficulty but other than that the gameplay felt really satisfying (specially when you manage to control one of the big monsters).

Honestly a great game! Love the atmosphere it puts you and and the mechanic of taking over other entities is great! Wish there was some creepy music to go along with the spooky ambient sounds and a little feedback on when your "power" comes back online. Other than that well done!

The game has great atmosphere and amazing monster designs.  It was a cool concept to suit the theme.  I enjoyed my time playing and left wanting to see more.

Great art style that adds a charm to the large variety of enemies. the backgrounds felt a little disconnected but matched the tone well. the large roster of enemies were fun to fight as and against. great job!

So first thing I will say is that, for your very first game and jam, this is actually way better than you're giving yourself credit for, and far from being ashamed, I think you can hold your head up high knowing that you made a really awesome project in the limited window you were given.  I had a lot of fun with this game.  It felt exciting fleeing from the monsters, trying to round them up to attack each other.  I like the wide range of different creature types you had and the art style is really enjoyable, with neat effects and I'm impressed how you managed to get each character to have their own unique behavior and attacks.

I think you have a solid base for building a great game and I encourage you to keep at it.  Best of luck to you.

Very cool concept ! Love your visuals and the vaiety in monsters.

I would be curious to see what you could have done with it if you had more time.

Few feedbacks & ideas If you decide to iterate on it after the jam :

  • Healthbars on the monster (especially on the one you control so you can know when it's worth it to explode it)
  • Make the larva faster or give it a dash so you can sneak into monster more easily.
  • avoid friendly fire between monsters (if it works on collission you can disable collision on same objects layers in the projects settings > 2d physics
  • make the enemies come in waves so you can manage them more easily
  • maybe a minimap or a kind of indicator to locate the monsters more easily without having to search the whole room

All in all, it's really good for a first jam. with a bit more time & polishing, it can become a really fun game. keep going a it :)

Very interesting concept and great art (loved the monster variety).

I think that in the basic larva stage the player should be faster, as infecting some monster was pretty much impossible because they were slightly faster than me.

this is a mad game but a fun game if you had more time you could make it even more fun

Really impressive animations and many lovely monster designs. My main criticism, in terms of game design, would be giving the playing more health or something to that affect, as I thought having the player be a one-hit-kill in their normal state along with being very slow, made the game unnecessarily difficult.

Taking control of other creatures is definitely a good concept and all of the art and vibe of the game help support that and what you ended up with by the deadline is very cool. Nice work! :)

Heh puppeteering these creatures were a lot of fun! I liked how there are a TON of creatures in this, like I when I thought I been every creature, a new one appears lol. One thing I would suggest if you expand on this game after the jam, is having a bar indicating when we can puppeteer, I was clicking my mouse and most of the time it doesn't work. Overall nice work on the game!

With a bit of polish this will be a very cool game.

I like the dark ambience and creature design.

The game really shines with the concept. It can be full fledged game with some more work on it. It does feel like time didn’t do justice to the game but that’s how jam works. Enjoyed my time with this.

Dope concept, could be worked into something very very cool.

I really like the concept, Art is interesting and cool looking. Quite interesting gameplay that would suit some kind of mini RPG. I would say fix up some stuff, add stats and some objectives and it would be an amazing title!

A lot of different monsters with unique attacks, I think this could transform into an interesting online game!
