Did you work in a team?
We were a team of 6:

Armen and Unsey = Development
Romaselli = Graphics and UI
Ondjon and Kssio = Music and SFX
Henzoid = Game lore

Was the resolution a challenge?
Yes. Fitting all the UI needed for a turn based RPG battle in the 64 pixels, without it becoming overwhelming and taking the entire screen was definitely a daunting task!

What did you learn?
Ro Maselli: Most of our team had no prior experience with Godot. I ended up loving it, especially the UI and map editing tools!

Ondjon: We wanted to strike a chord between the music and visual esthetic. So we decided to go for a blend between chiptune and orchestral, which was a challenge in of it self. I'm happy with the result and learned a lot.

Kssio: I had quite a challenge creating old school chip SFXs (that sound good) and running through chiptune instruments with my teammate Ondjon. First time working with these kind of sounds and vibes.

Really lovely spritework, the colors really stand out! The fire emblem inspiration is very clear, and put to good use.

Stunning! Really really nice job!

An incredible game, I think that nothing is missing or left over, it is very solid, the music suits it like a glove, and there is a lot of attention to detail, even each character has an individual name. 10/10

Thank you so much! For the music we tried a few different musical aesthetics, and ended up with a blende between chiptune and orchestral. I'm glad you liked our game, and noticed some of the details we put in it :)

Cool game, FF Tactics was one of my favorite games as a kid which inspired me to try this haha. I think a tutorial / introduction would've been helpful for me. Wasn't able to recruit anyone stage 1 haha so got wrecked stage 2. If your team chooses to continue this project, I think it could be hugely improved with a zoom function, maybe leave the resolution restriction behind or do some mipmap style texture swapping of your characters/assets/tiles. Very enjoyable all around and it made a great atmosphere!

Got ganked on a bridge by a warrior, mage, and archer. :)  Plan to play some more tonight. Good work on the chiptune, btw! I had a lot of trouble making music so I scrapped that and just did a few tiny tunes for the start and end of my game.

Protip: A good strategy is to use your character with the highest HP as tanks and guard with characters right behind them shooting projectiles, and mages right behind them as well, healing the tank every turn. the AI is not very smart and will always just go for whoever is closest to them, so you can basically tell them who to attack if you position your troops just right. Remember to recruit everyone you can, since your own HP doesn't increase as you go through the levels, but the enemy HP does!

This was fun! Just a solid all around experience

Thank you so much !

Nice entry! The fact that you can play against an AI player is impressive.

Damn, this is addictive! I would like more training, of course, but it turned out great. In my opinion, this is a claim to win.

Developer

Oh wow this means so much to us, thank you!! <3

Super polished, and fun to play, I love it. Incredible work for two weeks.

Stellar work, the graphics and interface are brilliant. I've never been able to get path finding right so great job!

Developer

Thanks! I considered implementing our own pathfinding, since godot's built-in pathfinding would often produce strange results, but I ended up passing the produced path through a function that tries to identify and correct duplicate points and unnecessary sideways movements. It is by no means perfect, but it does the job!

Great art, great gameplay and love the music. Well done on all fronts.

Developer

Coming from you guys, the compliment on the art comment really means a lot! Your game has definitely my favorite pixel art out of all the submissions!

Amazing turn-based game with great graphics and nice gameplay, very nice!

Really liked how you made use of static and dynamic UI elements to convey information as opposed to cramming everything onto the screen like higher resolution tactics games can get away with. Awesome stuff!

Great work!
