Did you work in a team?
Solo.

Was the resolution a challenge?
The resolution was somewhat of a challenge as it limits the amount of time the player has to react to the enemy. Slowing down movement of the player to once every second frame cause some kind 'shudder'. I kind of worked around this by having the enemies move every second frame and multiple difficulty levels.

What did you learn?
Slowing down movement by having an object move only every second frame results in a kind of 'shudder' effect when working with pixels that have been upscaled a lot.

This is so hard ^^ my best on arcade mode was getting down to 18, is there more to unlock if you get to 0? I'll come back and play. Great game! :)

Its easier in easy mode haha :)
Nothing to unlock in terms of game play. Just a 'you win' screen. Not worth the amount of frustration to reach it haha.

Classic side-scroller shtmup. Maybe it could be interesting to have a little bit more of feedback when hit and restarting… the sound effect and screen position jump are a bit “harsh” in terms of understanding what happened. The game is fun and plays well, good job!

Developer

Someone else brought that up too. If I do a post jam ver it'll be something I look into.
Cheers :)

I like it a lot. Everything gels very well. I appreciate having an easy mode option :D

Cool arcadey little game! My only minor complaint is that there isn't a whole lot of time to react to incoming enemies. But it's kinda unavoidable given the resolution constraint. I had a great time playing, nice job!

Cheers. I tried having the player move 1 pixel every second frame instead of every frame. However this resulted in some kind of graphical issue which isn't that noticeable on small sprites but is on the background.

I might release a post jam version increasing the resolution to 128x128 which would give the player a little more time to react.

A cool and simple game, but honed to perfection.

It was a fun little challenge to quickly navigate the ship and shoot down the enemy ships!

The music got repetitive quickly, so I'd suggest you alter it a bit to increase replayability. Reducing the hitbox of the ship to fit the current bullets' or increasing the bullet size greatly I think would fit the game more considering the mechanics. I'd also love some screen shake effects!

It is always great to see another Godot developer, well done!

Nice. I would recommend adding some delay after you die by adding a final screen with your score, or show a second or 2 of the starting screen so it's not so jarring each time you restart. Also a potential bug - I'm in Chrome on a Mac and the score is stuck on 40 in Arcade and 64 on Easy. The score doesn't change as I progress through the level.

Thats odd. Its a simple variable decrement as you take down the enemy drones but perhaps there is an issue with updating the label in Chrome on a Mac.

Cheers for the feedback.

Nice little game, I think the theme is really fun. It would be nice if my shield recharged when I picked up the energy ball right away. I also wish that my hit box was as big as my bullet so that if something was going to hit me I could always shoot it without moving. I guess then you wouldn't have to move. Maybe it would feel better if I could move faster or if the movement had some momentum to it? Either way, nice job.

Developer

If I do a post jam update I might decrease the amount of blue energy required for the shield on easy mode.
Increased moment speed is a possibility too.

Cheers for the feedback.
