Such a strong aesthetic, I love the Hylics-esque face melt

What the heck!? I haven't played Omori or Yume Nikki but I recognize the inspirations. To add another game to the pile of "inspirations that coincidentally I've never touched with a 30ft pole", I'd point to Earthbound. The battles, themes and sound effects, felt incredibly Earthbound and I've never even played it!!!

I've found this weird back-alley dimensional series of rooms (there's at least two of these rooms, they (almost) all have three doors at the top, sometimes the floor pattern is different, they lead to different areas in the map if you're lucky) trying to decipher this area was super tough (can't imagine why) and I'm not sure I explored even a small fraction of the duplicate rooms. I can see this becoming really difficult to finish, as the only OTHER avenue of continued exploration I could find was a weird haunted house themed area (floorboards and slimes with very tough enemies), and if that doesn't lead to new avenues of exploration, I'd be pretty much out of ideas for finding the ending.

I died enough times to see you CHEATING with the NUMBER OF GRAVES in the area between dying and reaching the bar, so I'd say I've played enough to give it all-around 5 stars for phenomenal gameplay and sound and looks.

Wow, this is real neat!

Impressive game with stunning visuals and smooth gameplay. The Yume Nikki inspiration really shines through.  A hint system or clearer navigation might help, but overall, this entry is robust and gives off the same vibes like Omori. Great job!

The UI is tight and snappy, it’s really satisfying to play.

The visuals are stunning, they fit the resolution limit really well. The audio design is good and the gameplay is really smooth! I'm usually very bad at this style of games, so I couldn't play much without dying easily xD

The gameplay here is very smooth and I loved the music / vibes in each scene. I'm not a big JRPG person, so I found a couple moves I liked and kinda just mashed them.

Would have liked a little more enemy variety and a little more signposting, but I enjoyed poking around.

Loved the Hylics style death screen!

thanks for playing!!

I’m not sure if I’m missing something or if the game is too deep for me, but I don’t see anything like the screenshots and everyone else here seems to be loving it. The game opens with a black screen, and I find someone and fight them (I think) I see a white screen with “15” in the bottom corner.

I suppose the question I’m asking is: am I too dumb to understand, or is the game not working for me?

something seems broken:( that should be a battle, not sure what happened! are you on Mac perhaps?

Very catching concept for first 10 minutes. After a few battles I found spells that work the best and every further enemy encounter wasn't difficult at all. I had no possibility to end the game because there is no explanation what to do or where to go.  Good entry if it really was made in two weeks but lacks some hint system which would help player to navigate through game.

Developer

thank you for playing and the feedback :) i took inspiration from yume nikki, so the exploration can be a bit frustrating and unguided; there is an ending though, just hard to reach. i do like the idea of a hint system though!! also, you can check my githib repo to see all my progress in the 2 jam weeks :)

I don't know what I was expecting but it definitely wasn't something as robust and impressive as this is. Not that I was expecting something *bad*, I think I was just expecting *less*, y'know? Evoked the ol' "wait? what? whoa" reaction for sure.

Played up to finding a second friend and exploring a spooky mansion before having to save—a save function!—and step away.

I think my one "gripe" so far is that I wish the door you had just come out of was marked in some way. Maybe that's intentional, to let the player get super lost super quick? Definitely not a dealbreaker or anything.

The music overall is great, but the standout is that one battle track, you know, the one that sounds like— well it's got a voice-ish thing at the start? kind of a yah-yah-yah thing? and the driving beat? you know the one. Chef's kiss for that one, it's *tasty*.

I'll be back to finish this one out for sure.

thank you :) yes haha that song was my favorite of the ones i made!! i called it “salad slaughter” which i think is pretty fitting

What an impressive entry! The battle sound effects are so amusing, and the music fits in well with the environments. Graphics are cute and creepy. The death cutscene is particularly cool. NPC dialogue is very ambitious for the timeframe. Reminds me of games like Undertale and Omori. You should be super proud of this submission, great job!
