Mmmmm thats a meaty autocannon.
Really loved the overall tone of this game, creepy quiet as you trudge through the dark, broken by manic gun fire as monsters rush you.

I really like the survival aspect in this where you really have to be careful with your resources everytime you decide to venture further into the map, the exploration itself really feels tense as well.
Visually the ominous and at time due to some creatures and background element lovecraftian atmosphere is really nailed here and i like that there are also other mechs here and there that seem to have the same capabilities as your own where they can sprint to catch up with you if you're not careful.
The map also felt pretty huge with a lot to find and to do in it for a jam game :o
The only small issue i had was the item interaction that sometimes felt unprecise, i thought pressing F near multiple interactible objects would collect them one by one but it doesn't really seem to work that way and i didn't get why it didn't pick some stuff up sometimes.
But more a nitpick than anything cause this plays really well otherwise.

Yeah, the interaction system is definitely a bit bugged. I'm using collision to detect when the player is in range. Which works fine, until two or more collisions are overlapping. But I do have an idea for a fix.

Then again probably also my fault cause the moments i had this issue were when i made a run for it cause i wandered with no ammo and i was pannic pressing F everytime i was near a box, mech wreck or old gun so... :p
Great job! The environment felt great, and matched the title well. The audio and post processing really added to that feel as well. The ability to salvage parts is a great addition.

Awesome game! Great atmosphere, awesome mechs and creatures. I felt like the mechs felt a bit bullet spongy, but at the same time shooting them up felt great so it's a minor point. Controls felt great and the survival aspect was a nice touch as well. Nice work!

How did you go about implementing the mini-map? Was it a lot of work? Of all the thing's I've coded a mini-map is not one and I don't really know what goes into it tbh.

I had another orthographic camera positioned above the island that displayed to a render texture, which I used as the image for a canvas raw image component.
The camera culling was set to only see the terrain layer and a mini-map layer. I did the player icon by placing a sprite above the players head, and assigning it to the mini-map layer.
The reason the map is red is because I forgot I had the fog turned on, decided it looked cool, and kept it.
Sometimes mistakes make for good features XD

This is great! Really loved the aesthetic and the gamefeel, and the gameplay was super tense and engaging. Also a survival/horror twin stick mech game is definitely not something you see every day, which is definitely a plus. Overall it felt polished, although I did notice a bug where objects sometimes wouldn't activate, and some objects lacked feedback when using them, but things like this are definitely to be expected from a jam game. I would absolutely play a longer version :)
