Nice little puzzle, I like how old-school things get mixed with something that feels like physics, the environment feels precise enough yet still organic. Sometimes it's not clear how the light behaves here but it's ok. Good atmosphere. Lol the monster is like a robed executioner... and still cute. Have good times in the darkness!

Developer

I had some fun with that lil monster:) the main inspiration was a hollow slave from dark souls 3, and the animation just turned out to look like a jump when I made the third frame, and I went like "you know what, that's fine, I like it". And after that I was looking for some monster sounds on freesound, and found some goblin sounds, so probably that made it cute :3

Thanks for the comment and for playing!

quite unique take on the light and nice implementation, great job

I like the idea of being a little ghoul scurrying about in the dark. Good game.

Great idea for a game. I feel as though the timer is too forgiving but otherwise the mechanics are well designed.

Nice idea and execution, would be cool to see the different light sources and ways of hiding developed more! Nice job

Super cool idea! I think the idea with mirrors should be developed further. Very cool mechanics!

Fun concept, but I'm not really sure having an overall time limit and resetting the whole game if you fail works well for a puzzle game (because puzzles are rarely fun to solve a second time). That said, I appreciated the added pressure.

The game was good! It was a bit too short, but it's a game jam game, so that's doesn't really matter. I like how the big rooms look, but the moving of objects was a bit unintuitive.

Submitted

the game was neat but the player moves way too fast and can cause some annoying moments when avoiding light

Developer

okay, noted! thanks for playing!

I like how the room with big windows looks. Also it was nice to see my reflection in the mirror.

The puzzles aren't very difficult but sometimes it was unclear why I can't push or pull an object. Some kind of an indicator would be nice.

My playthrough

Developer

thanks for playing and even recording your gameplay. The problem you had is more of a game-design flaw on my side, cause you couldn't understand the way dragging objects works. Basically, when you hold the left mouse button, any moveable object that is close enough to the character begins to move with the player. It has nothing to do with mouse position, just as long as the character is right next to the object, holding the button makes him push/pull it as he moves.

Submitted

Oh, now it's clear! Maybe if it's because mouse button is associated with dragging and dropping. If it was a modifier key like Shift, Ctrl, instead, it would be more intuitive.

I see, noted!

Pretty good artstyle and mechanics, A very enjoyable game! :)

Developer

thank you!

Neat concept, and well executed take on the theme. I enjoyed the gloomy art style/atmosphere you created.

For improvements, I think the hitbox on the orange candle was a bit harsh, maybe reduce the size of that particular collider a bit.

Fun game, Well done!

noted, thanks for the feedback! also, it was supposed to be a lamp :)

Really well done! fun game!

Developer

thanks!

Wow very enjoyable. Saddly it's only Game Jam. If there were more levels with more obstacles and ideas i definitely would play it!

Developer

Thank you so much!

I like the art and how you made the light change when dragging obstacle.

I'm not sure if it were a bug because I couldn't pass the second light in the second level. There was only one obstacle and when I tried to drag it pass the first window, I died due to light exposure.

Developer

you can actually drag an obstacle regardless of the direction in which you are relative to it. basically, you can not only "push", but also "pull". so for the second level the solution is either to pull the obstacle to the right after you cross the first window and use it again for the second, or grab it from below and just move right while holding it, using it as a sort of "shield". sorry if it wasn't clear to you.
