Cool! Very good looking game. I liked the music choices. Not so much the sound effects. Hard to play though! Is the player moving along a grid? That makes sense. Although I felt like the grid could have been smaller. Sometimes it was hard to get close to the bulba. Thanks!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much! I'd like to know which sound effects you think should be different.

What did you mean with a grid? I made a chunk-like system for generating the world, but all the objects are not on a grid and don't move on one. The frame buffer has a low resolution as to pixelate the screen, but in reality the position is expressed in floating points.

P.S. I really like bulba as a plural.

Maybe I just had the impression it was on a grid because it felt like getting myself positioned to properly pick the bulba (bulbae? xD) was difficult. A light tap on the direction often moved me too far over, from one side to the other, and getting close enough to hover over them was tricky.

Developer(+1)

Oh, that's interesting. I think I know how you are moving. Light taps indeed are not the way. It's a matter of timing and using momentum. Try walking in circles. I think that would help you get a feeling for it.

Very good game! Super trippy and enjoyable, it felt good and played well.

Developer(+1)

Great to hear!

Developer(+1)

What kind of other trippy effects would you like to see?

Submitted

Colour modulation would be awesome! Maybe a sin wave of hue shifting?

Super fun game, although i couldn't get to the end. The idea its super cool and the art its great. Nice job!

Developer

Thanks you! I bet that if you develop a strategy you will make it to enlightenment!

This game was a riot. The art, sounds and gameplay was a ton of fun. Loved the little jabs at "enlightenment" and "cops", hehe.

If I am going to give some feedback, I'd say that your enlightenment meter fills a bit too slow and/or 3 hearts is just not enough. I didn't actually get to see the ending because it was too difficult. That said, you've definitely got a fun little idea here and I'd love to see it a little more fleshed out. Good luck!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I am thinking about turning this into a bigger game, so you might see that in the future.

However, the path to enlightenment is not an easy one!

I like the look and feel of this one a lot! I couldn't figure out where the pausing limitation was and I wish there was at least one more variation of the pixel art tree but other than those two gripes this seems surprisingly polished and solid arcade-y fun. ^^ -Haley

Developer

Thanks! Yes, indeed it gets a little lame seeing only one type of tree in the environment. I thought about adding bushes and flowers as well. You can make the police stop by throwing bulbus at them. It makes them... woozy. Check it out if you haven't figure out this feature! That's how I made pausing a core mechanic.

This game is fun! it's challenging and keeps me on my toes. Amazing!

Developer

Thanks man!

Oh, what a great game. I love the realization and the concept. Enlightenment is reached. The cops are tricky and I love the fact that they don't stop beating you after you are dead :D Thank you for a good game.

Developer

Hahaha yeah, the beating was an unplanned feature. It was easier not to make the police stop at the players death xD I'm very happy to hear that you dig the game.

Cute and funny game with cool, smooth controls! I haven't gotten even near enlightenment (it feels like a cop shows up nearly every time I find a fruit, and they do sometimes sneak up on you) but I may get back to challenge the game again later. Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! You are correct that cops show up when you pick up a bulbus, but that's only 50% of the times. Let me give you some tips: Bulbus Phalloides (purple bulbus) spawns no cops as it is a poisonous species. You shouldn't eat it yourself, but you can still make the cops eat it.  To stop a cop you must throw bulbus at them.

Submitted

Gotcha, I'll give that a try, thanks!

Really nice visual approach to the concept, as other people mentioned the controlls were very smooth and fit definitely the purpose. Really nice job!

Developer(+3)

Thanks, great to hear! When I created the movement I used acceleration. So the controls don't set the characters speed, but it's acceleration. Then what I do is fine-tune the acceleration just right so the player can walk in small, smooth circles. Maybe that will help someone here create more smooth controls :)

The controls feel great and the game looks nice. Really well done!

Thanks dood

I have reached enlightenment! Wonderful art and worldbuilding!

Developer(+1)

Woah, that's actually not that easy, well done and enjoy your enlightenment!

Submitted(+1)

Ahhh I’m already dead, stop shooting my butt!

Developer(+2)

Hehe. I usually hide behind the trees.

Really really cool entry, illegal drugs is a cool take on crime. The animations and music made it a really chill experience, but the HEY from the police snap you out of it and things get really spicy as you dash away. Really Really polished entry fantastic work. It was a bit zoomed in but other than that no complaints!

Developer(+1)

Thats some real good feedback, thank you! I haven't realised that the game could actually be chill, very interesting.
