I kept trying to run away from the cat.

A playtester reported racing against the spells. It seems that this is a racing game after all! Hope you had fun :)

The voice acting is well done, and the fact that you can pet a cat is obviously a plus.

I think the second level may be too big: you just go straight into the caves, which are big and empty, with little variation. The best level by far is the last one, which is very colorful, with a more interesting level design and a far-reaching field of vision!

I had a few technical problems with the mouse losing focus, but apart from that, the game runs pretty smoothly!

Thank you for the kind words!

The main objective was to actually make 3 different levels, but time wasn't very keen on us, and we decided to make two cave levels instead. There are some small bugs, but we tried our best to make it playable until the end and blind-accessible, if you care, please do try it blindly as well.

Star is a good cat, takes a pet like no problem.

The sprite art looks great and works really well in the 3D environment. The music and ambience create a nice vibe and the voice acting adds to the immersion and story-telling feel.

The game plays nicely and the design around accessibility was done well. Star would sometimes get in the way of things but this is pretty normal cat behaviour, and it doesn't happen when they're guiding you anyway. Shooting with the wand could perhaps be made to feel more responsive by having the projectile shoot instantly and less wind up.

Other than that, everything was quick to pick up and felt good to play. Overall, it was a nice experience, great work to all of you.

Thank you so much! ♥ We really appreciate the feedback :)

Can pet cat 10/10 :D

But for reals, now! Really interesting idea and execution, game gives me kinda creepy vibes and I love it. Gameplay is a bit too slow and clunky for my tase, but I guess it fits the style. Had some optimization issues at the start of second level.  Overall, a really good entry :)

Thank you!! :)

I can't say I appreciated any of the AI text-to-speech. Even turned off I found it very annoying to hear it during the tutorial.

I enjoyed the story and the art done while closed up on Star was really well done. I would've liked to have seen more variety of enemies, maybe just a slight visual difference between the enemies that fired and the ones that didn't.

I did have to use Star's guiding to find some of the mushrooms, but now and then again while picking the mushrooms up she would stand in the way and I'd end up petting her for several minutes and listen to her pur instead of advancing on the story lol

Well, you know how cats are. They order us around and if they want pets, they want pets!

Now in all seriousness, I hope we get to fix the tutorial issues after the voting ends. That wasn’t meant to be, but you know, time constraints and problems.

When Star was getting on the way, was she on search mode (sniffing the mushroom)? If so, that’d be a bug.

Thanks for the feedback and I’m glad you enjoyed our game :)

Gorgeous looking pixel art, which sometimes seem top miss the proper filters in the webbuild, nonetheless they are well executed.

Love the clear priority on the kitten petting animation compared to everything else!

The base idea of the sound-echo-location thingy is cool and I enjoy it how it ties to accessibility. Trailer seems really nice, it is a shame that in the webbuild intro-outro cutscenes are not animation at all.

Game was a nice experience, as someone who doesn’t have motor or other issues I felt that enemies could be a bit more proactive (chasing from further away, aggro-ing on taking damage), and maybe an enemy you have to dodge projectiles from could help the actual non-walking gameplay.

Overall it is a nice experience, well done! Would love to hear if you plan on expanding in it in the future, or if it is gonna stay like a jam project. Well done you all!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Indeed, petting Star is a priority haha.

We hope to do something about the intro and outro cutscene issues after the jam ends. Godot didn’t allow us to upload a gif or mp4 file, and we only realized this too late and had to make do. I also have noted down the feedback about the difficulty of the mushrooms on our bugs and suggestions list.

I’m glad you had a nice experience and I’m thrilled you’re interested in seeing the game expand. On a personal level, I don’t want to discard that thought, but right now I really don’t know whether that’ll happen. But seeing people interested in that is great.

This is a very ambitious project for a game jam, and it is well done. I loved the story elements, the exploration, and the atmosphere. Unfortunately, the combat didn’t quite work for me. The wizard’s voice was hard to understand and somewhat distorted, but I would say that it aided the overall atmosphere.

Developer

Thank you! Such great comments to hear! We will think about making the combat more challenging in a future update. Is the issue you’re experiencing with the wizard’s voice about its volume? I’m not sure what the issue might be about the distortion.

The choice of characters and setup is funny and although it wasn't needed for me, having the accessibility automatically enabled for the blind made my think in a general way about accessibility (and that's a good thing!). I've very bad at 3D games but I managed to move around and advance nonetheless :) The universe is very intriguing, which I find interesting.

Developer

Thanks so much! I’m glad you had fun and liked it. The accessibility was also a challenge and a learning process for us, and it’s nice to see it also got you thinking about it :)

Cute, very good atmosphere but it was ruined by the text to speech accessibility feature, not sure if it’s only on my end. And Star kept blocking my interaction inputs like a Skyrim NPC blocking the doorway.

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! I’m glad you liked it.

Regarding text-to-speech, you can disable it in the Options.

The tutorial messages at the start can’t be disabled at the moment (bug), but the rest, for example, “Pet Star”, should be fixed.

We’ll see if we can do something about Star blocking the interactions. If you can provide some more detail to what is happening, feel free to do so. :)
