i think the way the fire presents the player with multiple different playstyles is really cool! nice job :)

Very cool visual, the default color of the project was leaking at the borders, maybe this can be solved by chosing another resolution in the Itch project settings, but only if no strech mode was chosen in the godot project settings.

I also liked the gameplay a lot, congrats on the submission!

I love the art style and the effect of the fire spreading, the gameplay is relatively simple but it is still a lot of fun, nice job!

Really nice take on the theme. The torch can sometimes clip through walls. I like how when you get hit it's not lost yet because you can still try to rush to the door before the flame does, adding a lot of intensity

Love how mechanics complement each other:

  • Your goal: get to the door to the next level
  • When hit first time you loose torch level starts to burn => now you need to hurry up to get to the exit before the flames
  • Without torch your vision is much limited => avoiding traps is more difficult now
  • Each time you are hit by a trap you are getting slowed down instead of dying => less chance that you get to the exit faster than flames

Really sound design! Enjoyed it

Thanks for playing!

We were really happy when we landed on this when we were initially brainstorming about the Jam theme. Something with an unforgivable singular mistake that would still not be an immediate "you lose!" situation.

Pretty neat idea and love what you've done thematically :)
