5/5 visuals because the main character is kinda hot
Amazing art style and great game feel, nice job bro! I actually just sat down and kept playing this game for like 30 minutes because it was that fun lol, rip my productivity
The Art is great and its a very nice Gameplay. I read all the comments and I think everything has been Said already.
The Animation are very nice!
Multiple team members considered this a perfect game jam submission. Audio is great and simple, sound effects are fitting and your interpretation is similar to ours and thus we find it great ;) You even did better in my opinion, where the resetting of your mistakes is needed ( I mean it takes away a bit of the theme - buuuuut its unique and fun!). And the way it works together makes the puzzling really fun. The wall sliding and wall jumping is really smooth and the animations of your art is amazing. Freaking well done and would play more of this for sure!
Awesome level design! Great visuals! It was a pleasure to play your game!
I really loved the game overall, but I found a bug that completely breaks it. Because of (I think) how coyote time was implemented, you can double jump by tapping the jump button twice in a row fast. This lets you cheese around half of the levels in the game. However, it's actually not so bad because it's one of those bugs that is really fun to pull off and also if someone speedran this then it could be used as tech to save time. Great work!
This was an inspiring jam game to play - love the simple art direction and scene layout, the paper-mario-esque player sprite, and the concept in general. Wall jumping will always win points with me, too. Really clever play on the theme - excellent job overall!
Thanks for the feedback!
Firstly, the art is simply great. Even the itch page is so beautiful. Good Work on the camera movement. It felt really intuitive and seem-less. The wall jump was so nice to get used to and loved the tutorial. Great Job!
Thanks for the feedback!
My favorite game so far! It's just beautiful and I love platformers like that. I would just add dynamic gravity so the movement feels better (you can multiply the gravity by 1.5 or 2 when the girl is falling to achieve this). I don't know if the flickering of the tiles are happening to you, but I think it's camera related, even tho I don't know how to solve it in unity.
Also, I don't know if it's a feature or a bug, but it's related to jump buffering (maybe the coyote jump implementation): when you press jump 2x in a small window of time you actually double-jump, this allows you to jump higher and you pass some of the obstacles with this technique :p
Congrats on the game!
Yeah I know that double jump bug but I fixed it after the submission period ended so I think it would be fair to upload the fixed version after the voting ends. The tiles flickering is a common Unity glitch, I thought I fixed it because it stopped happening for me. Also thanks for the tip on dynamic gravity, I will keep that in mind for my future projects!
this was amazing. lately i have been trying to figure out what makes games fun, i haven't found my answer yet, i think its probably different for everyone. whatever it is though, you nailed it! i think a lot of the time platformers are not always the most fun since they often start to feel rather bland (at least for me) but the way mechanics are slowly introduced, spun in a creative way, then combined with others created a really satisfying game that kept me intrigued. and the polish on top of that makes this easily one of (if not) the best games i have played this jam! well done :)
Thanks for feedback! The main thing I had in mind when designing levels was to introduce a new mechanic as soon as the player gets used to the old ones with the intention of keeping players constantly engaged. Glad to hear it wokred!
the take on the theme is nice, kinda similar to my own
the game overall is nice in most aspects, i had fun!
Glad to hear you enjoyed it!
wow! another platformer, really frickin cool i love the effects and art omgggg!
Thanks! :)
Not sure if i broke the intended way to play the game. But I can actually double jump for example with space + up in a quick succession to go through what should be impossible to jump obstacles like in the level "Go get that spike". I was able to just double jump that obstacle and go straight for the flag. I don't know if that was intended but it was SO MUCH FUN to figure out :)
I really like how clean everything is, I'd argue the precision needed sometimes could warrant just a tiny bit smaller hitbox for the character, but it's a lot of fun and there's a lot of interesting ways to play here.
I love what you did with the theme too, and I find that it would be neat overall to always have 2 ways of dealing with levels, one where you do use the death mechanic to progress, and another more flawless one where you have to be ultra precise but can still do the whole thing without dying and by using that "hidden" double jump mechanic to get some kind of reward at the end (a medal, a flag that explodes in a way bigger way to show the player he did something cool).
Lot of cool things to be done here, the concept is neat and can keep growing for sure <3
The double jump wasn't intended, I am not sure if I can upload the version with the bug fixed when the submission period ended so I will make sure to do that after the voting ends. I think having two ways of completing the level would make the level too confusing and I didn't really want to add an option to erease the puzzles completly. Anyways, thanks for the feedback!
Ahaha so I did break it. I definitely felt the most fun was figuring out how I could use this "feature" to maybe skip parts of the level. But all good, wish you well :)
