I like the game and the story! I think everyone has already said most of the feedback, one thing I haven't read to improve, is the main menu. The UI inside the game is pretty, and I hope it can have the same vibes in the menu if you guys continue to work on it. And also have a way to look at the memories without the text to appreciate better the art.

Great work! I hope this doesn't become canon

P.S.- I enjoyed reading some of the spam emails xd

We glad that you liked it >w<

Thanks for playing

Developer(+1)

Yeah, the Main Menu was thrown together quick (we don't even have a cover image on itch.io, which surely hurts traction here) and the text for the memories is the way it is because of a miscommunication during development LOL

We have a list of things we'd like to do to fix it all up. Glad you enjoyed, thanks for playing and leaving a comment!

God I hate the story, in a good way. Really love the whole concept and all the flashbacks, they are really sweet to read.

Others have said it but the clicks register the window behind others, making it very annoying. I also had no clue as to how the Chat app thing works. Some looked fine but were wrong and other looked wrong but were fine. Something else I noticed is that after a while, the guy walking just stops coming and the same happen for the tasks later on.

The ending is definitely a bit confusing. I love that Neuro is back with Vedal but so easily? But since it’s for a Game Jam, I don’t really care. But if you update the game post-jam, I hope we’ll have more insight on the ending

Overall an incredible game, good job

Sorry for the ending and some issues

Thanks for playing

Thanks for playing and for leaving this comment! Yes, a lot of issues are from the gamejam deadline. There was actually 4 seconds left when I go this completable version of the game uploaded so we quite literally didn't have more than a few seconds to spare. Based on comments here, QoL things we had to scrap for time, etc., we made a list of thins to hopefully fix/add after the gamejam at some point.

The story was also made as condensed as possible, and we didn't have time for playtesters, so these comments are honestly really helpful for knowing how to improve. Thank you again!

I very much like the story on this, very clever. Art is amazing.

Issues I noticed (as pointed out by others too):
- The task sometimes doesn't go away (it's stuck in the top right, as completed)
- Clicking on a window brings/focuses the one behind it forward instead (makes it hard to complete tasks when you have a lot of windows open)
- I had a few problems entering the last command, not sure if I kept forgetting something, but I also couldn't read the console very well, maybe increase font size?

Suggestions:
- Perhaps mark any new files/emails in a color, since I like reading everything there is, but sometimes I dunno what the new addition is

very nice game! :D

Thank you for the kind comment and feedback! We're really glad you enjoyed our game!

We've compiled a list of things we'd like to hopefully fix after the Gamejam, we'll try and address those issues!

(And on a personal note, it makes me really happy to hear somebody enjoyed the articles enough to go out of the way to read them all. It means a lot ^_^)

Developer(+3)

I very much enjoyed writing those files. Nice to see people enjoy reading them! :D

love the game! personally, i find that the inspection happens too soon/often for that much reading and tasks i have to do. there's no window for me to enjoy the atmosphere. i still enjoyed the game but i think it's better if there is some downtime to read in between instead of it being at the end when the final command is ready to run.

when opening multiple windows, clicking on a window in front actually passes to the window behind it. if any windows are overlapped, it will become very annoying. sometimes, the task doesn't go away after completing it, so it will fail. i think this happens when players just play with the task for fun rather than responding to the popup.

overall, i had a lot of fun uncovering the lost memories. the art is cute and charming too. good job!

Thank you for the comment and feedback! We're hoping to work on those issues after the Gamejam in an update :)

The thing about footsteps being too often is good to know. We didn't have time to playtest and find out what was a good time. Right now they show up randomly between 1-3 minutes.

Whenever I click on a window it keeps registering on the one behind it instead. Other than that little bug, I love everything. Not much else to say that hasn't been said. Hope to see more from you guys!

love the story and the vibes. Gameplay could be fleshed out but this might be the hidden gem of the jam

That's a very cool game! Sadly I don't think i finished it, because when i wrote this line in terminal I either typed it wrong several times or I was supposed to do something else as well, but at that time i failed too many tasks and I didn't want to do it all over again (maybe some checkpoints would be nice?). But overall it was game with very interesting concept and great story. Art was very nice as well. Good work!

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I can see why you couldn't beat the game. There's a really badly placed space on the console at the end.

Developer

Thanks for playing our game! Yeah, things aren't always clearly laid out. We're hoping to put out an update with fixes and rebalancing and other things at some point after the jam.

Aww! I manage to wind the game!!! =D
Great idea, I loved exploring the lore as I tried to remember that what I lost
Are you ok with feedback?

I think everyone on the team is happy about feedback, so go ahead!

Developer(+1)

Of course, we're happy to hear feedback, go right ahead!

The game is great! =D
The issues I experienced are most likely bugs or things that couldn't be completed within the three days.

I had some issues with the windows: if two windows overlap, clicking will bring the one in the back to the front.

The random occurrence of someone seeing you open a window feels too abrupt.
It seems like there’s no counterplay to prevent the eye from spotting me.
The eye didn’t appear to follow a pattern and didn’t give me enough time to react before taking one of my life points.

These were the main issues that prevented me from enjoying the game as much as I could have.
Apart from that, it’s great! =D

Developer

Hey thanks for playing our game!

There are footsteps for several seconds before the eye appears to indicate there is someone approaching. I'm not sure if you had the sound too low or not but, that's the tell. The window bug has been mentioned by several people, yeah. We have plans to hopefully do a bunch of fixes and stuff in an update to the game sometime after the jam!

Thanks for the feedback!

Alright where to start with this, sooooooooo I guess let's go over the negatives first, since it's practically free and made in litmited time I will go softer.

Major Problems:

1. It's far too easy to close the tabs, all you have to do is close the main one and they all disappear. It doesn't help that you get a colossal amount of time to react once you hear the walking sound.

2. Since there's no sense of urgency, being the fact there's no time limit you aren't punished by anything. You could've created a scenario where she's about to be deleted or something else in about ten minutes. Making it so that every time you have to wait for the person checking on you to leave or complete a task, it adds tension and worry about whether you can get your memories back before deletion

3. Having the person or employee checking up on you to change his pace, perhaps sometimes he could check your screen faster, needing a fast reaction time. But of course, then it might make it more annoying idk.

Minor Problems:

1.  The console could've been used better, halfway I was typing in stuff I saw that I thought would be cool. Such as the infamous: Plan C, which you unlock and learn later on, perhaps adding a separate inbox where you can type code words in, such as Turtle or even the name of the person doing the logs where if you typed it in you could've gained more information. Like a lorebook.

2. There are some cool logs to read, unfortunately, I learned early on that the only parts that matter are the highlighted pink ones. This made me not read and skip the others, I went back during a second playthrough and read some, interesting but maybe this could've been done differently.

3. Lackluster ending, I guess you ran out of time, no epilogue or anything, I assume that Vedal transferred Neuro back home, but considering "Plan C" which from my interpretation they took her forcefully, makes this ending a little bit more bittersweet and open-ended. Cause I assume the company willing to go those lengths will try to get Neuro back, will Vedal and his friends be on the run? Will it turn into an action movie? Questions questions, uh I'm just rambling now.

4. So this is more nitpicky, or maybe my game is bugged out. But when I got to the part where I needed to type into the console the walking mechanic just stopped. This feels... Weird, why would it stop now? The tasks are still happening, and I know why. Because it resets once you exit the console, but you can do tasks while typing into the console. But you would have to exit out to not be caught which would reset the console, making it practically impossible. Just a small nitpick, Idk.

Positives:

1. I like all the art and the atmosphere, well done, clear, and conceived.

2. I love the premise of this game, and obviously it's inspired by certain events *Wink Wink Nudge Nudge* it creates a vibe of bittersweetness.

3. As per usual the storytelling is good, just wished you got more time to read logs, you slowly uncovered events and more, making me guess and come up with headcannons on certain things.

4. The game runs smoothly with no problems, and no bugs from what I've seen.

5. I like the music, hehehehehe

6. Actually required a decent amount of brain power, still easy though.

Alright, we came to the end of my review for this game. As Usaken I shall dub the game with a 5/10 score, which means it's "decent". It set out to do its premise and I think it did it well obviously if given more time I think the game would be a point higher. Buuuuut since the game is free and I'm biased being a fanfic author myself and in the discord. I shall give the game a 6/10, which means it's "good" in my book. Soooooo YAYA!!!!
