Oh my Lord at the atmosphere, I could almost tasted the air of that asylum. The characters, the setting, the prose, all deserving of a chef's kiss. It's weakest point by far is adherence to theme, but even then I think it passes that category with flying colors. A wonderful story altogether, well done.

Very high praise thank you! I have relayed your comments to my daughter who really appreciated the fact that people were taking the time to read, both kids have definitely benefited from all the constructive comments from the jams they have written in and are improving incrementally here, but it has really helped them a lot in schoolwork with time management and getting concise ideas out under tight constraints!

Yay for imaginary friends! I liked this tale a lot. Actually kind of hard thinking of any of the stories I read this jam not having something in it that resonated with me. I do wonder what they were in OPR terms, but it didn't detract too much from enjoying this tale.

Thank you for taking the time to read and rate, we definitely agree there were so many entries that were all so different and yet easy to connect with.

love the artwork, and the base concept is great too

Thank you for your appreciation, I have relayed this to my daughter and she said she did the crayon-type drawing because she ran out of time for more detailed pictures like the first one! I told her I thought it worked better this way.

It seems to me, that this is the first part of a longer story, that I would love to read. :)

I said the same thing to her and she said she had some ideas about it being a preamble to a longer story. Hopefully this will encourage her to craft it!

Very cool :)

I was very impressed with the voice you used in the first paragraph of this one! It felt very authentic to the character, and stayed consistent through the story.

Thank you, very kind words that I have relayed to my daughter.

I love how you created your own artwork for the collage. It's quite the unique setting. It's nice to see the small stories. Jamie was written in a compelling way and I enjoyed his characterization. I enjoy the use of Dementia praecox which seems to be the old diagnosis for Schizophrenia. It adds to the idea that the imaginary friends could be figments of his imagination or real fantasy beasts. It's unfortunate that most of the audience will not understand this. I seemed to miss the symbolism of dirty.

Thank you for the kind words,  I relayed your comments (and others to my daughter) and she really appreciated your analysis! I asked her about the term "dirty" used and she said it was meant to convey both Jamie being a bit of a germaphobe and about how dire/neglected the asylum was.
