Description
I imagined the soundtrack for a Metal Gear Solid-like game, with stealthy levels and exciting boss fights. This is reflected in the arrangement of the tracks. However, the mood is darker, as time glitches are a crucial point in the game mechanics. They are a threat in the game, and a pressing sound in the tracks. I used bells (actually a guitar) to convey a feeling of "time is running out".
The whole soundtrack was made in ableton. Most sounds are made by me (bass synth, glitches, electric guitar). The drums and 2 of the instruments in the level track are Ableton presets. I reused many sounds throughout the tracks for consistency (and time saving :D)
Message from the artist:
This was so much fun! Thanks everyone!
Theme:
How does it fit the theme?
Time glitches are a core mechanic and the setting is a clock tower. The soundtrack makes use of glitches and bells.

I like the pulsating basslines and that "Gear Madness" boss theme had a cool unsettling feel to it. I like the percussive elements as well! Good work!
The Clock Tower: The rhythm right off the bat is so fun with the heavy swing feel. The bell screeches of your guitar add a creepy vibe that seems to work well with your game idea and sounds really nice next to the clock tower bell. I really like the bass and kick and how it drives the track forward.
No Time for Caution: The bass and percussion drive this forward and make this an intriguing track that would be fun to play levels to. The other glitchy effects and the voice gives it overall a haunting sound. I like that the clock tower bell continues throughout.
Gear Madness: This bass line makes me think of Mega Man style music and the fast-paced drums give a drive to this track that make it work really well as a boss track. These are three eerie tracks that would make a great small game and I appreciate how much of what we hear is created from scratch by you - that is really awesome! Good job and thank you for sharing!
very nice! right off the bat, i'm really impressed at those bell sounds! those are your guitar? crazy. the glitches also really add to the composition, you've made them fit in perfectly!
all in all very nice work :)))
Thank you for listening! Yeah, almost everything that is not a glitch, or a very obvious instrument, is a guitar with effects. And I actually made the "main glitch" and wanted the soundtrack to revolve around it, so I'm glad it worked. Thank you! :)
Fun experimentations with sounds from what I read and heard. I never really played any Metal gear solid game but I remember watching a friend playing it. That totally works from what I can recall! Nice sound track :)
I surely had fun experimenting :) Thank you for listening and for the comment!
Cool beats here! (reminds me Terminal Velocity OST a little bit ~_^)
nice work!
I never played that game, but I just listened to bits of the OST, and you are right! Actually, that could be a good reference for the future, so thank you!
Suspenseful tracks with killer beats! It's really cool that you made the sounds yourself, and using a guitar to create the "bell" sound was super innovative! Great work.
Thank you! I like sound design and experimenting with sounds :D thank you for listening and commenting
Really cool! The production is awesome : it hits hard, it's very well mixed, and it just sounds really good.
The Level and Boss themes groove hard, and the Title theme less grooves and more... vibes. It help energize the track without ruining the atmosphere.
I really like the hook you got here, and that you reuse it for the boss theme (with fitting changes ofc), but i wish you developed on it more : maybe in the level theme, you let the hook play twice, then develop on it, continue the melody, and then come back to it. It would make the track have a really nice structure without having to change harmony or beat or anything else. With the boss track i'm actually pretty ok with the hook staying undeveloped, because it helps adds to the tensity of the track.
Overall, i liked this a lot, and i enjoyed grooving out very much.
Thanks for listening and for your time! It's a very valuable comment, I'm realizing I'm often too static in my tracks and don't always realize it until I'm told, so thank you for noticing that!
Nicely done, but I don't like such a style, anyway, good work!
Thank you for listening and commenting!
Its really original in my opinion! The bell being a clock is really cool! and the whole vibe of the songs is really good for a metal gear solid kind of game. I like it!
Thank you for listening, I'm glad you find it original! Thanks for the comment!
I liked the selection of the bell as the ticking sound, it's very ominous and it really stands out. The panning of the glitch effects was also well done, it added some nice depth to the tracks.
Minor mixing complaint, the repeated synth sound at 0:38 of "Gear Madness" is a little too wide, consider reducing the stereo separation there slightly to maintain mono compatibility.
The bass could use more automation to give it more character in "No Time for Caution" and "Gear Madness". It is one of the central elements throughout the tracks and it feels a little static for something that commands so much attention from the listener.
Overall, the soundtrack was engaging with the constant build up of tension and the sheer level of darkness from most of the tracks. The sound design plays quite a big role in this track was varied and interesting. Kudos.
I was really hoping for this comment :D Thanks for the very valuable feedback. All things that I did not notice before, but they're very clear to me now. Thank you!
I love how your soundtrack doesn't waste any time bringing in the juice. You're immediately hit with the boomy kick drum and percussive elements. I think that the theme correlation is the strongest bit here, as there's a pervading sense of urgency all the way through.
Thank you! I think I'm a hasty person in general haha
Damn, that Fat Bass! Also I like that guy in background of No Time For Caution. They should give him promotion for this voice acting. Overall, good job
