Description
DAW used: BandLab's Music Making Studio

Message from the artist:
Actually, for this OST Jam, I tried to learn some DAW - and started with LMMS. Got concept for the game, melody, idea of arrangement... and then get sick with summer fever. Installed available DAW on Android (BandLab's Music Making Studio) and during my wake moments in bed I tried make music. So subtitle of track is description of my condition and mood ~_^.

Theme:

Tick Tock...
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
Lying in your bed with fever, sound of clock on the wall is your only companion, and you slowly falling asleep and weird dreams are approaching...
In imaginary game, you would try get rid of your fever and trying to avoid nightmares in you dreams and get some hot tea and medicine in your awake state.

Truly conveys the feeling of falling in and out of a fever dream as you struggle to sleep. I'm not even sure if there is a way to fix the muddiness in the low end without taking away from the experience as the heavy, percussive bass clashing with the low end synths actually support the feeling of having a fever. Nice work overall!

The repeating bass pattern kinda feels like when my head hurts when having fever :D I think you portrayed that quite well ;) The track is heavy and haunting, just like being sick is like.

For a first try with a DAW this is stunning!

good stuff for just learning a DAW! i like how the different sections still feel sonically connected, despite being entirely separate phrases! good stuff :)

This relentless, muscle-y bass sound very much evokes "summer fever" for me. Long hours, fever delirium, it really feels like it'll never let you go. I look forward to seeing what your next viral infection brings us :D (but seriously, I hope you get to feeling better soon)

Nice for the beginner! That's too repitative, and as people below said there are major problems with mixing, but that's great for the first try!

Talk about taking current life experiences as inspiration!!  I definitely feel the track referencing the tossing and turning thanks to a fever. I really enjoyed this track.

Very cool work, and I dig that you decided to use the fever for your source of inspiration and chose to work around it as well. Normally I would say the same thing about cleaning up the mix, however in some ways I feel like the muddiness and heavy distortion in the mid and lower frequencies really adds to the uncomfortable, heavy, and disorienting feeling that comes with fever. So if that's your intention, maybe you can still lean into it a bit. At the end of the day, it entirely depends on your artistic intention. Nice stuff!

Thank You for feedback!
Yes, certain distortion and uneasiness was desired, but I wanted to have more articulated bass line, and now it's kinda muffled. Will try to fix it after jam.

You've created a very dense harrowing atmosphere in your track. Would make for a very good loop in a gameplay level!

I agree with most of the other comments on the muddiness in the low end.

Developer

Thank You, I will try fix the mix after jam ^_^.

This is great for your first time in a DAW! I feel you, I got sick in the last two days of the jam as well. It's good you were able to get something out despite being sick! I love that glitchy sounding synth in the back. Love this rhythm. This is a cool track with good structure, but its a bit muddy. I agree with the tips Jon Odate gave. Great work!

Thank You.
These summer sickness are pretty insidious, aren't they?
And yes, I should fix the drum and bass part of mix.

And that glitchy sounding synth in background is one of default instruments in BandLab called "Atlantis Pad" without any FX ^_^

Woah, it's really cool that you still made a song despite trying to learn a daw and getting a fever. Wish you good luck and also better health for the next jam!

Developer(+1)

Thank You!
Yeah, it was like "I can always fail while trying, it's better than give up"... (and frankly, after two days in bed i get pretty bored :D).

Not too bad! My only note would be to make sure to not condense too many instruments in one frequency range. While I think the composition was good the mix was extremely muddy and distorted particularly in the lower range. Try experimenting with the middle and upper ranges if you can and see if it helps make a difference! also just in case try experimenting to see if cutting out the low end on the guitar would help same with the bass but instead cut out the mid and high end (not too much though you don't want to muffle it.

Thank You!
Yeah, two bass lines and drums in the same range is indeed muddy... My main problem was that I composed it on tablet...  without headphones (yeah, stupid me, but it didn't occured to me in the moment)... and even Galaxy Tab had pretty good speakers (stereo!) for tablet, it's nowhere near quility of regular speakers... so when I listened it on the tablet, I have feeling that I had to put more and more into bass.. and after listening on computer with quality speakers... well... it didn't go well...
Certain level of distortion was desired, but this si probably too much ^_^.
Maybe I shoudl fix it after jam.
Thanks again, I'm still learning with DAW...

Ah I see! No worries! I hope I get a chance to hear the revision once voting's over!

I think it conveys a feverish mood and the driving rhythm with recurring melody gives an uneasy sense of not knowing how long it will last for.  Neat concept!

Developer

Thank you very much. Glad that certain uneasiness is recognisable ^_^.

Good job learning your way around the daw! The song's got a good central melody. You might consider working on the mixing on the low end. Thanks for making and sharing.

Hope you are feeling better!

Developer(+1)

Thank you, I'm better now ^_^.
Yeah, I should correct mixing on the low end, maybe should post new version after jam.
