Description
I imagined the soundtrack for a Metal Gear Solid-like game, with stealthy levels and exciting boss fights. This is reflected in the arrangement of the tracks. However, the mood is darker, as time glitches are a crucial point in the game mechanics. They are a threat in the game, and a pressing sound in the tracks. I used bells (actually a guitar) to convey a feeling of "time is running out".
The whole soundtrack was made in ableton. Most sounds are made by me (bass synth, glitches, electric guitar). The drums and 2 of the instruments in the level track are Ableton presets. I reused many sounds throughout the tracks for consistency (and time saving :D)
Message from the artist:
This was so much fun! Thanks everyone!
Theme:
How does it fit the theme?
Time glitches are a core mechanic and the setting is a clock tower. The soundtrack makes use of glitches and bells.

The idea of a clock tower is conveyed perfectly in every song, almost like the gears of the tower are part of the music. The bass line is intense and threatening (in a good way) and the stage theme lines up well with the idea of a stealth game. The title theme is truly powerful stuff and leads into your other two tracks well, but it feels more like the opening to a horror game than a stealth game, imo. The boss theme is more on track with a MGS-styled game and definitely gives the impression of intense action, I just would have liked a bit more of a main melody to it to drive home the weight of the boss battle. That list bit is probably more my personal preference than anything - overall, solid OST and great work!
Thank you for the thorough comment! I agree with the issue with the first track, probably the creaking guitars cause that. That's a very useful feedba, thank you!
Short, but very effective !
The bass is simple and awesome at the same time, it gives some kind of tension that's good to feel in a stealth game.
Thank you! I'm very happy that the bass sounds good :D
Gear Madness is so good. The production in it really give a sense of danger and urge to fight. I liked the concept you developed. Good work overall :D
Thank you! That's the kind of tracks I like to make the most :D
The first track exudes pure tension, creating a sense of unease, and that's absolutely fantastic!
The second track is intriguingly strange, but in a captivating way. It would be a perfect fit for a stealthy and action-packed level.
The third track is just pure fun and enjoyment!
Thank you for the time you put, both in listening and in the comment. I think it's all very accurate!
Also, double thanks for commenting, so I noticed that I commented your submission but forgot to rate haha
The basslines are good and memorable! That is personal preference, but I believe a real bass guitar would make the tracks sound better.
Thank you! I feel a bit awkward to use a real bass because I'm not so good at playing yet. But it's a good idea, I can try!
That's the spirit!
Gear Madness, I heard some dogs barking that was really fun.
That's a guitar, but I'm glad I'm not the only one hearing dogs there haha
I love the dark electronic style you picked for this!! can definitely imagine it going into a gritty, high precision game with stealth. You write bass so well!
This comment really warms my heart! I'm also a beginner bass player, so it's very important to hear this. Thank you!!!
This might be weird but the little motif in the first 2 tracks where it's 2 notes an octave apart was also how I initially imagined a clock's "tick" and "tock" would sound like as a musical idea lmao.
Cool soundtrack, coherent and interesting!
Thank you! That was not in my head when I did that, but that could make sense :D
That bass line to fight against the boss is pretty hype! very nice lick
Thank you! I love making bass lines :D
I love how the "bell" adds some dissonant musical spice as well as serving the theme. And I enjoyed the kind of staggering feel the glitchiness gave it. Great job :)
Htank you for listening and the comment, I apprediate that!
Cool vibe and esthetic! Good job
Thank you!
I like the bass sound , it's the dark image
Thank you!
You definitely managed to achieve a nice, dark vibe, well done! Took us a little bit to actually hear the bell sounds, but they are pretty fun.
Thank you! I should definitely improve the mix
Ah, that wasn’t necessarily a point of criticism, I actually like that they are a bit on the subtle side :)
Love the fake bell sound, great idea!
Thank you for listening and noticing :)
It's definitely not a bad start. I think it could be a bit cleaner with the instrumentation and overall mix but I definitely get a good sense for what you were going for! (^_^)
Yes! I have a lot to learn there, it's exactly what I'm focusing my efforts on right now. Thanks for the valid feedback! :D
really cool vibe, love the boss theme
Thank you!
A nice tie-in to a (IMHO) era-specific game soundtracks, but with a new vibe. Especially like the boss music which has the frantic feel that a boss fight should have! :)
Thank you! I totally agree, that's how I want a good boss fight to feel :D
Love the continuous presence of urgent bass delivering a strong sense of movement and coherency throughout.
Thank you! I'm glad it worked
Haunting! These are some cool tracks. Gear Madness goes so hard, great sfx. I definitely get an MGS vibe from it (kind of like Yell Dead Cell). Great work!
Yell Dead Cell, that's exactly the vibe I was going for. Thank you so much!
