Description
A song that's meant to capture the essence of the breathtaking (no pun intended) ocean ambience and it's vast, colorful world as you explore it! Electronic/Chiptune genre with a 2D Metroidvania style of game in mind sort of like hollow knight but underwater. I composed the track in a way that invokes a feeling of distance because metrodviania's (and oceans) are very large areas much of which haven't been explored.

0:00 - 2:19 Exploration
2:19 - 4:20 Battle

Note that the battle transition is intended to be seamless like in most metroidvanias.

Message from the artist
Also keep in mind I've only been composing for about a year and a half now. I think I'm doing pretty well :D

This is also my first OST composing Jam! Wish I could've done more but I started late :,D

Theme

Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
It fit's the theme by taking the connection I can see the character has with what looks to be the water and by using different methods to making the music such as reverb, note filtering, and echos, I believe I managed to capture the theme of ocean water's (and floating bubbles) pretty well!

I wish the mix would be a bit better (got the same problem on mine) but it didn't deter to how nicely you wrote this piece. Really enjoyable!

Love the way it seamlessly goes into the battle music! feels like it go transition at any point which is great!

Loved the intro, it sets the atmosphere well. The melody and counter-melody are also beautiful. I really enjoyed the song, good job!

It was definitely a mix of sensual ambient and... This synthesizer is so cute.) I love it!

Good work! It definitely feels like waves washing over me, and I like how seamless the transition was between the two tunes, too.

Developer

Yeah, I didn't want the transition to be too jarring because in a metroidvania video game concept with an underwater-like atmosphere, it wouldn't make much sense.

Thank you though!! (─‿─)

I loved it. It was calm, gentle, and I could feel the underwater vibe in the song. Even for starting late, you did a great job :)

Thank you! I definitely would have made more tracks if I had more time (T▽T)

Damn this is the music I'm looking for right now. Really nice track!

This is laden in atmosphere, great job! Very ambient with just the right amount of moodiness, curiosity and hints of mystique. The core melody that's woven throughout is memorable, helps to ground the track as a whole. Super solid entry, honestly. Would love to hear more from you in the future!

I was going for that underwater like ambience and I am very glad you enjoyed it!

very pretty! Your composition fit the theme better than any other song I've heard before. I listened to it with my dog and it put her to sleep, haha. I very much enjoyed it, and it's excellent that youre getting into this at such a young age. If you haven't already, I would seek out some classical music and really absorb it as much as possible. I wish I had an appreciation for classical music earlier in life. Your piece is definitely one of the better ones I've heard so far!

Developer

That's so sweet thank you very much! Also I've started getting into classical music recently but not as much as I probably should since it's very nice to really absorb it like you said. I'll most likely listen in more frequently once I start studying for AP chemistry this upcoming school year.

Thick and luscious sound, lots of layers, melodies and counter melodies. It feels like a very grand and larger than life imaginary world.

The mix does get muddy at times, I think there is a little too much going on in the upper bass and low mid regions. If there are a lot of layers it's a good idea to stick to just the bass note in the lower frequencies and push the other notes of the chord further up (for example, instead of a C3 E3 G3 for a C major chord, you could write it as C3 G3 E4). Another thing to do is to put a highpass filter on instruments that don't need bass or low-mid content, it makes the low end much cleaner.

You did quite a good job if you've only been composing for a year and a half, some of the musical ideas are somewhat complex. Congratulations on completing your first composing jam!

Developer

Thank you so much for the advice!

I'll definitely be keeping that in mind whenever I'm composing in the future and I might make personal adjustments to see what that would be like.

Composing Jams are also very fun as well so I'll definitely be participating more in the foreseeable future, and next time not as late :,D

I like your style! The instrumentation is very tranquil and wave-like.

It reminds me a bit of one of my favorite tracks from Ratchet and Clank: UYA - Obani Gemini

The use of noise and bubble effects really nail the atmosphere embodied in the image.

You're right it does sound like that track! Thank you.
