pretty fun, but the way the tongue doesn't stop on the first bug/spider makes it hard to properly catch only the bugs

Thanks for playing it! =)

Cute game! I included it in my Palette Jam 2 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)

Developer

Thanks! You've made a great work!
Loved the video!

I love what you've done with the colour scheme. A lot of the games in the jam ended up being fairly dark, so it's nice to see a really bright and colourful game as a contrast. The happy music really fits well with that too.

The game is short and simple and quite fun for what it is, and the frog and the bugs are quite cute. I could see myself playing this on my phone while waiting for the bus, especially if you add a few more features like you've said in a different comment.

Fun game, simple and effective. Liked  the music, very feating to the game.

Developer

Thank you!!
I'm glad you liked it =)

A simple yet fun game. The only thing its missing is a highscore feature.

Developer

I was planning to put a highscore feature, but unfortunately I didn't have time for it. =/
Thank you very much for playing it!

Simple and addictive fun with a gorgeous art style!

As others have said, some extra challenges would've been good to see (like flies that dart back and forth, or the tongue grabbing everything in its path), but I think you've done a great job making this by yourself in a week!

Developer

Thank you for the review!
I'm planning to implement some other features in the future. I liked the idea of having flies and other insects to make it more challenging. =)

On my first try, I grabbed poisonous spider thinking that it's the correct bug. After that I analyzed the bug to notice that poisonous bugs have red color.

Pretty challenging game cause the end of tongue must touch the bug to eat the bug while bug is moving.

Developer

I'm glad you notice!
I'd tried to use the colors on the gameplay somehow since that was the "Palette Jam". haha
Thanks! for playing and for the review.

Once i got used to what the spiders look like compared to the bugs it got quite fun, Would've loved for the tongue to catch bugs on the way to the one i targeted so i have to carefully pick around the spiders, but its a really catchy game with a visually pleasing art style.

Developer

Thanks!
I really enjoyed working on it. There are some features I was planning to implement in the future.
I'm glad you liked it =)

Quite simple but it's reasonably well executed for what it is. The difficulty progression isn't smooth, though, because the hunger meter speed doesn't scale with the availability of food. More speed doesn't make it more difficult because more speed = more food. Thus, in level 2 I feel like eating a spider means I'm in trouble. Level 3 and 4 are actually easier than level 2 and by level 7 or 8 I barely see the hunger meter dropping.

Developer

Wow! You went pretty well!
I didn't see this progression problem during the game design. That's a good point.
Maybe I put some other features to contour this in the future.
Thank you very much for the review =)

Thanks. Around level 4-5 or so it felt just like leading my shot in PlanetSide when aiming at a fast-moving vehicle far away. I used to do that a lot.

I enjoyed the game, it's a simple one-button game executed well! It would be more enjoyable if the difficulty ramped up slowly. The beginning already felt quite stressful.

I like frogs <3

Developer

Haha! I like frogs too!

Really fun game! Its simple but still really good. The music also fits pretty well into the gameplay.

I have to agree with Majadroid though that the gameplay is very repetitive. It gets a bit boring after a couple rounds and the music starts getting annoying around the same time due to the looping throughout every stage of the game.

Developer

Thank you!
I really enjoyed working on the aesthetic of the game, but the gameplay and music get a little repetitive after a while. I'll probably return to the music to make a less annoying version of it. =D

It's a funny little game and the gameplay goes well together with the graphics and the music. It creates a very casual, some kind of funny mood. Well done!

It's a very simple game mechanic, so it is not a big surprise, that the game feels a bit repetitive after a short while.

The best part for me is your art stile. It looks really nice.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the reply.
I tried to make a simple mechanic to focus on polishing the aesthetic a little more. I really had some fun making it, but the gameplay and music get a little repetitive after a while. I'll probably return to the music to make a less annoying version of it. =D
